After an unknown amount of time, a soul got to reincarnate into a fantasy realm with it’s own choice of abilities and looks. Watch as he goes through life as powerful as can be in this weird world. This is a hobby and not professional work so please bare with me while I try my best to make this book a good one. I suddenly wake up, from what I assume to be a form of sleep and I look around. It is pitch black with no end in sight, forever expanding. I look down and gasp, I am a glowing, human shaped wisp of white. A thought occurs, 'What happens if I....' I put my hand on my chest area and it just goes straight through like air. I pull my hand back and look at my hand and my now impaled chest. And then a thought occurs to me, 'Am I...dead?'
After floating in the empty space for lord knows how long, I hear a cheery voice, "Hi there! I'm a system that grants people another life with an ability and looks of their choice. After going through the countless other souls, it is now your turn. Name an ability and looks of your choice and it shall be granted."
I sigh and say, "So I did die.....this...sucks."
The system's voice echos in the void, "I know how you died if you would like to know."
I immediately shout, "How?!"
"..."
The system takes a minute and after what seems like a century says, "You were struck by lightning and was being taken to the hospital by ambulance. Yo-"
"Dying by lightning isn't so bad." I say.
The system waits then goes, "You made it to the hospital and the doctors were able to check and make sure you were fine after extensive testing. They said you were alright but you might have trouble eating. Then you went home and had a sandwich which you then choked on and died."
"..."
"I died to a sandwich."
"You indeed died to a sandwich. But now is not the time to revel, I have countless more souls I must help so please choose an ability and your looks quickly so I can continue."
I think for a bit, 'I want an ability that has a wide range of use and options, but good for many scenarios. I want an ability that I would enjoy though as well, plus I want something no one else could have.' Many abilities come to mind but I have already chosen the one I want.
"I want the ability to control shadows and souls but in the form of a game system."
The system pauses for a moment, seemingly thinking about it. Then says in its usual cheery voice, "It is done, the ability has been created and now we need a body for this ability! What do you want your body to look like?"
I immediately say as I have thought about it, "I want to be a guy, look good, and have purple hair and eyes. I want to grow to be at least six foot when I'm older."
The system takes another one of its usual pauses and says, "Done! I am going to be sending you into a world with magic, people, magical creatures, the works and will also give you the ability to understand their language! But be careful, I don't want to be seeing you anytime soon. Now please close your eyes so your mind will not be hurt during the transportation process."
"I can't wait!" I say excitedly as I close my eyes. All of a sudden the weightlessness I was feeling moments ago is replaced by the weight of gravity. I hear voices but at first, they are barely, then booming noise fills my ears as I open my eyes and look around.
I am in a room with brown log walls and curtain-less windows that have light piercing through, covering my face with warmth. There are beds lined up across the walls, some contain people who look injured while others are empty. As I lean myself up I hear a voice to my left.
"He's up! Mr. Johnson! The kid is awake!"
I look over to see a lady that looks no older than 30 wearing a nurses uniform I presume. The uniform is a black coat with a grey shirt and pants, along with some leather shoes. She has soft features, and an elegant look about her, her eyes are kind and bring me happiness, like looking at a kitten. But, I look down, she's flat.
An elf about 5'9 ft tall, jogs into the room and over to the nurse. He says with a hushed, stern tone, "Please quiet down, some patients are trying to rest. I know your in training but please try to be more considerate."
The nurse blushes and nods. "I'm sorry Mr. Johnson but the kid is finally awake." She says as she gestures to me.
Mr. Johnson walks over and asks, "How are you feeling?"
