239 [Chapter 237] Boom!

The mission grade would obviously go up even only a little, since I captured their general and massacred their army.

I close my interface as I look around the room, seeing it's a simple guest bedroom, maybe a maid's room. I slowly approach the door, reaching for the door handle. But before I grab it, I stop, my senses kicking in. I hear voices passing by the door as rushed steps fly by. I wait till they are away from the door and silently open it.

I swiftly exit the room, coming face to face with the hall I had heard the voices in. 'I need to find the king before something happens, this place looks like it's preparing to storm the other castle.'

I don't wait as I launch forward, powerful gusts of wind blow through the halls, knocking people over as I pass. I fly by maids, butlers, and soldiers, not to mention hundreds of rooms. I enter a hall filled with windows so I casually glance outside when my eyes catch something. I immediately halt in my tracks as I gaze out, my eyes not tricking me.

I watch in shock as guards slowly proceed to open large cloth bags, dumping a fine black powder into wooden barrels before smacking a top onto them. And the courtyard, instead of being lit up by torches, is instead lit up using light magic from mages.

Immediately, I realize their plan, not even needing to ask, 'Sky, that's gunpowder. I think they plan to collapse the cavern the city is in.'

I hear a gasp of shock as it clicks in her head, "That's so cruel! Why would they murder all of those innocent people?" She asks in a shocked voice.

My face hardens like stone, "I don't know, but I'm going to stop it before it can even start." I say as I hold up my hand, 'Absolute Shadow.'

I hold up my hand as the shadows jump to life, weaving together to form a large spear in my hand. I inhale and blow out a spout of black flames, lighting the full front half of the spear. I do some quick math, pinpointing their location to be about 1/4th a mile away.

I quickly count the amount of barrels and already see a problem…for them. They have about 40 barrels, that is going to cause an explosion of about 1/3rd a mile wide. This won't be a problem for me since I can definitely take the blast with no damage…however they won't.

I lean back as my muscles bulge before I javelin toss the spear, sending it flying through the air with a sonic boom. Everyone looks up as a blazing spear zooms past them, landing into the powder barrels. Their faces can only look in horror before a massive explosion sends them flying.

A cloud of grey dust fills the sky as I feel the wind whip across my face. But I stand unmoving as the courtyard becomes engulfed in a grey cloud, the walls of the castle shaking all around me. A few moments later, I begin to hear more rumbling below me as my eyes shrink, 'Sky, I think there were more explosi-'

*Boom!*

The ground beneath me shakes even more violently as I hear Sky respond, "Seems so, we should probably get out of the castle till it stops."

I shrug, 'No reason to, I need maybe fifty falling on me consecutively to cause me some actual damage.'

She agrees, realizing what she said didn't apply to me, I have enough strength to probably destroy a castle in one punch if I absolutely wanted to. But I usually restrain myself because I need to put my strength into other movements such as dodging and mainly to make sure I don't kill anyone.

I use the diversion of chain explosions to search around the castle even quicker, not having to worry so much about running into someone at the speed of a car.

I ignore the noise of explosions and screams around me as I fly through the castle, when is suddenly see the ceiling begin to collapse.

'The explosions must of caused the foundations to destabilize along with a few inner supports. I gotta hurry.'

Little did Kuryami know, the entire beneath had rooms filled with gunpowder kegs. The only reason the castle was still standing is because it was built to survive these explosions. But the usual maintenance to the castle was slacked on due to lazy workers, so it had begun to fall from the stress of containing such explosions.

I begin to run even faster as I search even harder, the layout forming as the ceiling falls behind me, and after a little more running, I finally find the throne hall. The ceiling is collapsing behind dust covering my vision as I approach 2 massive steel doors. I don't slow down for a moment as I shoulder charge straight into them.

The doors explode off their hinges as they bend inward on themselves, the impact from my running having caused these metal doors to meet their end. But as they flew through the air, they had destroyed the walls, causing the entire chamber to begin to fall.

I quickly look around, my vision piercing the dust filled air like a hawk. But as I look around the room, I immediately realize, no one is in here.

I sigh as I look down at the floor, "Damn."

My last word escapes my mouth before the ceiling collapses, covering me in various debris.

"Which bastard did this to my castle?!" Yells the king as he watches his castle crumble in front of him. He had quickly left through a hidden passageway, demanding a mass evacuation of the castle and all surrounding districts. Plumes of dust and smoke float through the air as his castle falls to pieces, collapsing in on itself as a few towers fall over, smashing the districts he had evacuated.

His children behind him gaze at the castle in awe, having lost everything inside to the collapse. Their favorite blades, books, furniture, gone. His younger son takes a seat on the wall, massaging his head with his eyes closed. His 2 daughters struggle to not cry as they watch all their belongings become part of the rubble.

The king falls to the ground as tears fall from his eyes. His castle of 12 stories has fallen, all the enchantments in the castle he had spent a fortune on to keep the explosion maintained failed. What was he paying the maintenance workers for if they couldn't even keep these enchantments maintained?

After 5 minutes of constant destruction, things slowly begin to settle as the mounds of rocks, bricks, fabric, and wood reveal themselves. The guards gaze in shock, unable to believe that not even a single floor remained.

Sadly, with 12 stories, not everyone made it out, so some now lay buried under the massive pile of rubble. Some may be alive, although unlikely, while the rest are dead.

As silence permeates the world, everything having finally settled, except the occasional brick or stone.

The king takes a moment to situate himself before slowly standing up, clearing his throat, "Alright! Search the rubble for survivors or any surviving artifacts!"

The guards immediately mobilize, dismounting the tower before going towards the pile. But before anyone can reach it, the rubble begins to shift, causing people to gasp in shock. Slowly, the rubble shifts as a man clad in a white suit crawls out, complaining under his breath, "If you had used steel, this would of been handled better, but noooo, it has to be stone and wood, I mean, it's the medieval ages so what should I expect…but it's got magic! Like come on!"
