[Chapter 81] Fighting Tactics

When we reach the arena, I glance inside and find a few groups of people fighting on the spotless floors. It's as if a massacre didn't happen here. I follow behind winter as she enters the arena with a look of excitement on her face, although it's still slightly puffy from when she was crying.

We walk over to a built in booth at the side of the hallway leading towards the main arena. She sees us walking towards her and puts a cheery smile on her face, her pure white skin making her even prettier. "Hello there! What would you like to do today?" She says in a very chippy voice.

"We would like to temporarily rent a training zone, and a large one please." Winter says as she pulls out a card showing her id. The lady nods and takes the id, when she sees it, her smile wavers a bit before she is eventually done with whatever she is doing and hands back the id with her regular smile.

Winter smiles back as she takes the card and the lady points to a certain spot, "You guys will be taking D3." Suddenly, the ground she pointed at glows an outline, creating a giant square. And as we begin walking towards the section that was just marked, I hear behind us, "Runt." I glare behind me and see the woman staring at Winter. Intimidating glare.

The woman goes solid as she slowly falls to the floor, the same grin stuck on her face. I smile as we continue walking and eventually make it to the marked area. I look around us seeing many people of many ages sparing with robots, and sometimes eachother. Some are even covered in blood and cuts.

I look back at Winter as she stares at me, "What are we going to do?" She watches as I use shadow manipulation to create a plain scythe out of what seems like thin air. The scythe is about a foot taller than her and her eyes go wide as I stick my hand out, "Take it."

"What do you mean? I thought I was going to learn how to transform." She asks in a confused tone as she awkwardly takes the scythe. I wave my hand summoning a black box from thin air and begin to explain.

"You will learn eventually but I need to teach you how to fight if things go south, and we are learning with the scythe because it's the weapon I am able to use the most effectively. I am not the best teacher but I can just hope that you will catch on, besides, I can only teach you how to use this weapon effectively."

She stands there in awe as my scythe unfolds itself right before her very eyes. "Woah." Is all she says as I hold the scythe. 'I may rely on the system to transform, but using this weapon was engraved into my soul.' Suddenly, I see a window pop up.

"Would you like to activate teacher mode?" (This will help guide you in teaching your pupil in whatever you are trying to teach them and will increase the speed they are able to learn by times 10)

'Yes! This is exactly what I needed right now!' Suddenly, a grid appears before my eyes showing a hologram of what Winter is needed to do along with a progression bar that says, 1/10%.

I hear a slight help as I look over and see a progression bar in front of her, along with a spectral being beside her. She looks over at me, her face in panic as she begins to try and explain.

"Kurayami, there is a window in fro-front of me, and a ghost looki-looking thing to my right. What is goin-going on?"

I stand there dumbfounded by what I am witnessing, 'My biggest secret is blown. I'm screwed. Damn it system, this is the one thing you should of warned me about!'

I walk over and begin to explain. "This is how I see things and control my abilities so well, it's a system. If I'm going to teach you, keep this a secret, or else I could definitely be in trouble."

She looks at me and nods with a determined face, understanding that this is not something to take lightly.

"But this guy is kinda creepy, could you please do something about him?" She asks as she points at the spectral being.

I shake my head, "Sadly no, he is going to help you learn the scythe as I demonstrate, although I am not sure how."

I clap my hands, "Anyway, let's begin!"

I say as I get into a starter position. "This pose is for when you are going to twirl around and are able to chain it to your next attack, you ready...." I ask when I suddenly see the once motionless specter begin to move.

It suddenly covers Winter as her eyes go wide and suddenly, her body is covered by the specter and she slowly changes her posture to match mine.

Winter starts to panic as she begins to start rambling. "What's happening? Kurayami, I can't move normally. Help, what did you do?"

I suddenly stand up straight and her figure slowly follows as the realization hit her, she is mimicking my movements. 'I'm gonna mess with her.' I think as I suddenly raise the hand that isn't holding the scythe, and I slowly navigate the hand to wear her ear would be. Her eyes go wide as she realizes what is going to happen.

"Kurayami. I'm warning you right now, don't touch my ears, if you do I will kill you personally." I watch as her hand slowly gets closer to her ear and she starts threatening even more.

"Don't do it. Stop it. Stop moving your hand right now. Kurayami, knock it off."

But as her hand is now really close to her ear she starts begging. "Kurayami, please no. Please don't, I'm begging you please. I'll give you anything please, just not my ears."

I laugh as I stop, not wanting to make her angry anymore than she already is.

"Alright, alright, alright. Anyway, let's begin actual training."

I suddenly am back into the stance I was before while inwardly sighing, 'I was just joking around....now I'm curious about what happens if I would touch them…anyway, that's another question for another life.'

I grip my scythe and jump into the air, doing a triple spin before landing soundlessly on the ground. On the other hand....she did not land so soundlessly. Thud! "Owwwww." I look over to see her on her rear as she sits on the ground, and she was smart to wear a pair of regular shorts and a t-shirt for training, or else this would be that stupid anime trope where the girl constantly lands in embarrassing poses.

I walk over and hold out my hand. After her face turning slightly red, she grabs it and I pull her up, trying not to throw her by accident. She stands up and I see the bar above her head go to 1.1%. I laugh as I realize this might not take as long as I thought, but I was very wrong. Over the next 3 days, she is learning how to move her body with the specter and try to remember the movement. And over this time, we have gotten to 6.8%.

Currently, she is breathing extremely heavy as we spar currently. Obviously I'm not sparing seriously or else she would end up like the soldiers, in two halves on the floor. This is our first spar and we wanted to see how this would work.

She stands up and charges at me with her blade slicing below me, I jump over it and smoothly slice down, causing ripples in the air as she quickly turns around and blocks it. I smirk as I quickly turn the blade to the side as it passes the handle and then I quickly pull the blade upward as it is underneath it.

Her scythe suddenly flies from her hands as it lands on the ground behind me. Winter wipes the sweat off of her forehead as she walks towards me.

"You have improved by a large margin, it may not seem it but I think that bar is mastery of the moves, not how much you learned them." She smiles at my compliment and nods as she hears the explanation.

"Anyway, I think we are going to stop, besides, your bar is now at 7.1% after that spar, I think we can get it to 10/10% if we practice hard enough tomorrow, then we can focus on your transformation." She smiles as she watches me and when she sees the training is over, the box telling her the percent in the top right of her eyes disappears. She suddenly walks towards Kurayami.

"Wait!"

"Hm?" I look over at the running Winter as she finally catches up to me. Her face turns beat red as she asks, "Would you like to....come to my house....to eat dinner?" Each word she asks, her face becomes redder with each word she says till she looks like a tomato.

'Am I being asked out? She is cute and I see no downsides so why should I say no?' Kurayami has been eating with the royal family everyday and would usually go to his room to try and refine his mana core afterwords, causing the amount of mana he can manipulate to grows ever so larger by the minute.

"Sure." I say as I smile at her. Her red face slowly turns into a happy smile and her tail starts to wag extremely hard. 'Guess tales don't lie.' I think as I see her tail wagging at an insane speed.
