[Chapter 37] The King Arrives

The king knocks on the door, "Head to the Johnson's residence in the noble district."

The driver responds in confirmation and starts driving to the location. Meanwhile back at the house, I am in the living room, playing with Blossom and Winter in a 1vs2 tug of war with a rope tied to another rope I was given by my dad. I could win easily if I tried but I wanted to have fun so I have my arms tied behind my back and I use my mouth to pull the rope.

It's still uneven but much more even than before, we tug for a while before they both get tired and give up. I let go of the rope and break the one holding my arms behind my back, making a snapping sound as it does. I walk into the kitchen and grab a bowl and a cup from the cabinet and fill them both up with water. I put the bowl full of water down on the ground and they begin drinking greedily. I drink all the water I can before I feel satisfied and put the cup in the sink.

I look down to see Blossom and Winter in what seems as a stand-off. They are growling at eachother, seemingly about to fight, I walk over and look at them both, "No, not in the house." And they both now have their focus on me. Winter crawls over and climbs up my leg, over my back, and onto my head, latching on as usual. I rub his head in response he purrs with happiness, which makes blossom jealous.

She gets in a pounce position and jumps onto my chest, digging her claws into my clothing and licking my face. I hold her and rub her head, in which she chirps happily and starts purring.

"Neither of you should be jealous, I love you both equally." 'I seriously need to learn how to introduce animals better....' I think as I hear a knock at the door. I set down Blossom and walk over to the door, in which she follows, almost directly on my heels. I open the door to see a Knight in full black armor at the door.

"Hello, I am a royal knight of the king and would like to know if this is the Johnson household?" His strong voice emits from the helmet.

'People sure like asking that question.' "Yes, this is the Johnson's house. What do you need?" I respond casually.

"I would like to speak with your father please." Speaks a new voice. The knight steps to the side and a man looking top class walks to the door, he is followed by a young girl, and a large orc. The man is wearing a black coat, the girl a white one, and the orc is wearing a brown one, but all gold one symbol on the chest, two Phoenixes fighting with no end in sight.

I nod and ask them to wait a moment as I shut the door and run to the backyard to see Estel training his magic spells with Dad. I run over and tap Dad on the shoulder, making him jump a bit.

"What is it Kurayami?"

"There is a Royal knight at the door and another man asking to see you."

"A royal knight?!" He asks as he bolts threw the backyard to the front door, I realize something is up and follow right behind him. He calms himself before opening the door, just to see the royal knight and the king of the land, followed by the princess, and an orc. He starts laughing internally while smiling, 'Hehehehe, what did Kurayami do to summon the damn king?!' He glances at me before looking back.

"Good morning my King, how can I help you today?"

"May I come in? There is something I must discuss with you." Says the king as he steps forward.

"Please do." Says Dad as he steps back and they step in.

The house fills with a tremendous aura as the king walks in, an aura that exudes power. I shiver a bit but walk to the living room and motion for them to sit on the couch, which the king nods in response and sits down, his daughter sitting to his left and the orc sitting to his right. The knight stands to the side of the couch, ready to defend them at a moments notice.

We sit across from him and my Blossom jumps onto my lap, rubbing her head against my hand making me pet her, but she watches every movement the others make, not knowing who they are. Winter reacts basically the same, but squeezes my head a bit harder, showing that he isn't moving. Then the conversation begins thanks to the king.

"It's nice to see you Mr. Johnson, hope you have been having a good day."

My dad nods, "It has been a good day, I hope yours has been too."

"It has been, and the trip here was just as pleasant."

My dad wipes a bit of sweat off of his forehead, but still looking strong. "Not to be rude my king, but why have you come to visit us?"

The king looks at my dad, his voice getting even more serious, if that was even possible. "I came to talk about your newly adopted son and his unique affinity."

Dad glances at me then looks back towards the king, "I beg your pardon?"

The king looks at my dad with eyes of a predator, "I have some news about your son and his affinities, and I'm assuming this is him." He motions towards me.

I nod and wave, "I'm sorry, I would bow but I have a cat on my lap."

The guard looks at me, his anger tangible in the air and his voice, frustrated he can't hit me. "Please show the king a bit of respect."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude." I get up which makes Blossom panic and grab onto my shirt with her upper arms while she hugs me with her lower arms. I bow while the cat holds on and sit back down, continuing to pet Blossom, which makes her relax her grip on me.

The knight stares at me with hatred while the girl beside the king starts giggling uncontrollably, reimagining the scene of the cat holding on for dear life as I bowed. The orc glances at me and stifles a laugh before continuing to read. The king looks over at the guard, who immediately stares at the wall ahead of him, hoping to not anger his king.

The king then looks back at us, "I'm sorry about that, I did not mean for my guard to speak out of like like that."

My dad hastily replies, "No, no, it's ok, it was my son who was being out of line, he is ten and still has a lot to learn of our customs, so he still has trouble with common courtesy."

The king nods, then looks up and down at me, I am currently in my human form, my large body displays it's strength as if it's nothing. "Let me get to the point, I have reason to believe that your son is a divine beast."
