[Chapter 86] Dinner And A Shocking Discovery

"Dinner is done you two." I hear Samantha's husband say as I finish refining my core again. I look and see both Winter's sleeping on me. I gently shake Winter and her eyes slowly open up, she gets up and stretches a bit before looking over at me and the realization of what she did hitting her. Her face slowly blushes till her face is red again. As she imagines what she just did in her head, her tail starts to wag continuously at a speed that shouldn't even be physically possible.

'She may be embarrassed but that tail is still not lying.' I think as I look at her tail that is moving at a speed that would definitely give a tempest wolf a run for its money. I point behind me, "Dinner is ready." She shyly nods before walking over to the table and sitting.

'Thank gosh I moved that tray or else that could of been a small disaster.' I think as I look over at the tray on the small coffee table in the middle of the room.

I get up and take a very drowsy slime from my head and I store him in his familiar bond, I have figured out that familiars don't need to eat if they stay in the tattoo for about thirty minutes, which is what I have been doing to make sure Slime winter doesn't eat the cube itself. 'It's kinda shocking how much food a slime can eat.'

I take a seat at the side of the table and look at what their doing, seeing if they have any anything they do before dinner. I guess not as I see them begin to dig into their food. I look down and my eyes contract as my body begins to shiver, their dinner tonight is BLTs.

I pick up the sandwich, my hands shaking as it slowly gets closer to my face. 'I can't do it.' I put the sandwich down on the plate and close my eyes as images of me choking on that dastardly sandwich flash through my eyes.

'Never again will I eat a sandwich.' I think as I eat some of my sides, such as carrots, well, that is the only side there is. They are delicious as I would rather eat them than the.....sandwich.

Winter was glancing at me every now and then as she saw the untouched BLT. She sits there silently as her dad suddenly pipes up.

"So Kurayami, what's it like on the surface?" I quit shoveling carrots into my mouth as I look over at the man that has the still kind aura around him. I swallow and explain it's a land of magic beasts and magic. That tell them that we live in stone buildings but have technology comparable to here in a sense but far from advanced. And next is a question I didn't plan for.

"You say you live in a medieval type era, but you are able to comprehend our technology with ease and even talk about it as if you have used it every day, where did you figure out about this technology?"

I sit there for a moment before shrugging, "I suffer from a form of amnesia, but I get tidbits of memories here and there. I guess it could be that I worked with this stuff before but forget from my amnesia."

He sits there in silence as he thinks for a few moments, seemingly going over what I said. He eventually glazes past it as he continues to ask me questions such as where I came from, where did I live, and then I got to the few dreaded questions.

"So what do you plan on doing with your life?"

I think for a moment before giving him my answer, "Maybe an adventurer, they can make good pay if they are high enough level and my strength is far from normal on the surface to say the least."

He nods before asking one more question, "And what are your plans with our daughter?"

"Dad!" She says as she looks at him with an irritated look combined with embarrassment. "I am my own person you know, and I am far from irresponsible." She says as she crosses her arms and looks at him. I inwardly laugh, as I see this, 'I can't believe this was never shown on tv shows, at least the ones I watched.'

I wave at her and look at him, "My plans are simple, I was gonna ask if you would let her travel the surface with me so she can learn magic."

He shakes his head almost immediately, "I will not let you take her away from us just like that, we don't even know if the surface is safe."

I immediately retort, "You don't know how I met your daughter? Do you?"

He goes to say something before shutting his mouth and shaking his head.

"First, I would not be taking your daughter, the final choice would be up to her. Second let me explain the circumstances I met your daughter. She was about to have the crap beaten out of her by three vampires because she couldn't defend herself and wouldn't, because the cube didn't favor 'weaklings' like her."

He nods when I say the first part, but grows even more silent as I say the next part. "It's hard to believe that the cube or people in general would beat her up, just because they could. Is that how you want your daughter to grow up? Being bullied everyday?"

He stays silent and I read the atmosphere before I hear him say, in a happy voice with a tinge of sadness, "Is this true Winter?" She looks uncertain for a moment before nodding. "Everything he said is true. And if that brat of a vampire becomes executive, or someone similar to her, I will definitely be dealt with.

He sits there for a moment before nodding, "So be it, you can go Winter if you want, living like that in here is no life worth living."

She looks at him with a happy expression before nodding and looking at me. "I would like to come with you Kurayami."

I look at this scene with shock, 'I never expected it to go this well, I expected at least a little push back. I suddenly see her father go over to a drawer and pull out a silver wristband, I recognize it almost immediately.

He walks back over and holds it out to me, "She may not be leaving yet, but I want you to keep this." I nod and immediately put it on my right wrist. I suddenly feel something click and see a hologram pop up on my arm, 2 text boxes pop up along with the words username and password on them.

I feel a sharp pain in my skull as I suddenly see myself sitting in my chair, my hands suddenly begin typing a username and password.

"Username: Dragonking1737"

"Password: Nevercanbeguessed"

I don't have time to comprehend what is going on before suddenly being back in the room. 'That can't be a coincidence.' I think as I type them in the hovering text box. I type on the holographic keyboard as I begin to type in the ridiculous username and password, a very quiet ping sounds out as I click each key. Everyone is staring at me in confusion as they see me typing stuff in before suddenly watching the hologram turn purple and a new text popping up.

"Hello Dragonking1737. Admin access has been granted. Ownership of the cube has been granted. Awaiting orders."

I sit there in shock before trying not to cough blood at the stupidness of the username.

I close the hologram and see that Winter is staring at me with a smile on her face. 'Guess she is happy she can finally leave the cube.' I think as I look at her dazzling smile. I get up which snaps Winter out of her daze as she asks, "Are you leaving?"

I nod and she begins to walk me to the door. As we stand at the door entrance and the door stays open she looks at me very shyly and asks me, "Kurayami, would you of considered this a date?"

I stop walking and think for a moment before looking at her, "I thought the kiss confirmed that?" I walk away as I see Winter jump for joy and a new bar pop up in front of me.

'Guess I got a girlfriend now.' I think as I smile happily at the status bar in front of me.

When I get back I immediately enter my room and lock the door. 'I can't put this off, if I own this cube, it's practically owning a country of my own.' I think as I suddenly open up the purple hologram. When I open it, I suddenly see a new video which I immediately click on.

I see a young man in front of the camera this time, a sad smile on his face. He speaks, the sadness in his voice tangible.

"If your seeing this video, that means you aren't as dead as everyone thought you were. I created this account to give true ownership of the cube to its original designer and creator. All I can say is thank you, you changed the future sir, even if it didn't change our inevitable end, it gave us a chance for a new beginning. So thank you."

Suddenly, the video turns black as the box immediately closes itself. Suddenly a 3D diagram shows up, it's the cube. It shows its massive layout, the electrical systems, the power source, the population, their ages and the amount at that age. It shows pulses of all different colors going through the wires of the model, showing what I assume is the power and signals going throughout it. I suddenly see an option in the bottom left part of the screen, it is currently on "Off."

I click on it and see a few options, "Camouflage, repair, or move." I click on none of them, keeping it at "Off" for now.

'I just became the owner of my own country, I am not going to mess with anything until I know what it does.' I think as I turn off my wristband. 'I would say I am shocked, but from this reaper mode to becoming a being of power, I am beginning to set my standards to be shocked higher.'

After waking up and getting dressed, I began walking down the hallway towards where Winter lives before suddenly seeing Winter already walking towards me, "Hi Kurayami!" I hear Winter say as I see her jog towards me. I look her over and realize her body's now more toned than it was before.

I smile as I wave at her, "Ready for training today?" I see her smile and nod, and so we begin another sweat filled training day.
