Young Justice: Copy Wheel Eye

In a cemetery late at night, figures clad in black clothing stood surrounding a headstone. They all stood around it with their umbrellas open, shielding them from the rain that poured.

The mood was sad and solemn as they mourned in silence. One by one the figures retreated and walked away. Very soon only one figure was left standing there.

This figure was noticeably smaller than the rest that had walked off earlier and he lacked an umbrella to shield himself.

The sound of thunder rang out as a streak of lightning moved in the sky. The momentary flash from the lightning gave enough light to illuminate the figure.

He was a young boy of about twelve years old. He was clad in a black coat that went down to his knees and boots of the same color.

He allowed the rain to beat him, hiding the tears that streamed out of his eyes with the same intensity as the downpour above him.

"Why…why…" His childish cries were little more than a whisper in the rain.

"Why did this happen!!!" He screamed in anguish towards the heaven as his devastated expression was now visible.

As if mocking him, an arc of lightning raced across the sky, shedding enough light for the name on the headstone to be visible.

'Here lies Asami Makoto. Loving Mother.' It read. Not far behind it was a similar headstone that also added to his anguish.

'Here lies Shinji Makoto. Older Brother.' The second one read.

Unable to handle it anymore, he fell to his knees and sobbed his heart out. His screams were muffled by the sound of the rain as it seemed to cry with him.

In the midst of his mental breakdown, he almost missed the electronic sound that rang in his head.

"…what the hell…" He managed to ask himself as his eyes began to get heavy. He struggled to get up but his already weakened mental state made it even more tasking. Added with the sudden drowsiness, he could do nothing as he succumbed to the darkness.

Twelve years ago, in a hospital in Tokyo Makoto, Sora was born to a single mother. His mother, Makoto Asami, was overjoyed at his birth.

There were numerous complications that made it seem like the operation would be a failure but he came out healthy. Her older son, Makoto Shinji was also glad to hear about the birth of his younger brother.

What they didn't know was that the child was not normal by any means. Makoto Sora was once a lonely orphan who had died before he turned fifteen but had now been reborn.

Although he didn't understand how or why this happened, he didn't care. All he cared about was the fact that he had a second chance at life with an actual parent.

It wasn't until he turned five that he realized that this world wasn't normal. That was the only conclusion he could make when he saw a news broadcast about a man in tights flying in the sky.

What solidified his thought was when he heard the name 'Gotham'. Anyone who had a brain could guess what was going on.

He had been reborn into a work of fiction. At first he was bothered. Questions like how would he survive in such a dangerous world often occurred to him. As far as he knew, he had no powers or magic so he was just a normal human.

After a lot of careful thought, he let all those worries go. The so called superheroes could handle it. After all the good guys always won so there was no need to panic as long as he stayed clear.

That's when reality hit him deep.

His brother Shinji who was older than him by ten years died in a military program. He already had the dream of serving in the United Nations Military so their mother had them move to New York to accommodate that.

A year after his entry, he died. According to them, it was a training accident. With them refusing to give the full details, the Makoto mother and son could do nothing but sob in pain. After that they moved back to Tokyo.

They were never able to fully move on but they were managing. Asami worked at a children's hospital so she had enough money to support the both of them. Sora's mother enrolled him into a self defense class to vent out his inner pain. That worked…but it worked too well.

He vented his pain alright, but that meant that he was extra brutal in spars. He didn't pull his punches for any reason. Of course it took him some time to get to that level but it was still impressive.

When he turned eleven, he was banned from the program after he caused a few fractures in a spar that went too far. Asami tried her best to support her child even though she too needed support.

They were the only things keeping each other sane and they were picking themselves up. That was until life struck again.

A year later on her way back from work, Asami got caught in the crossfire between rival gangs. The police and the medics didn't get there in time. By the time they got her to the hospital, she was dead.

At this point Sora reached a very painful realization. Just because you don't try to change anything doesn't mean life won't slap you in the face.

She was buried beside her son in Tokyo. The funeral was short and the only people who attended were his mother's friends from work.

Although they were all there to mourn the same person, that didn't mean they felt the same pain as her son. They simply walked away, leaving the twelve year old child to his emotions.

Black eyes opened slowly and tiredly as it seemed to not focus on anything. It's owner realized they were on a bed judging from the soft material under them.

Looking around Sora found himself inside what seemed to be a hospital room. He sat up slowly as the memories from the previous night slammed into him like a truck.

'Oh that's right. I remember. I'm alone again…'

He gripped his head in pain as tear pricked his eyes. He managed to keep them in as the pain in his head subsided just by a bit. The pain from the memories were fresh and quite excruciating.

Even more excruciating was the anger and hatred that bubbled within him. He managed to gather enough strength to get off the bed.

He trudged his way to the bathroom sink to cool off. Turning on the tap, he scooped up a good amount and splashed it on his face. He repeated this multiple times until his body cooled down a bit. Although he was a bit calm now, his body still trembled.

He made use of a nearby towel to wipe his face. As he was about leaving the bathroom, he passed a mirror and froze in his step. It wasn't the mirror that froze him.

It was what he saw in the mirror that shook him to his core.

'What the hell happened!…' He thought in shock.
