Chapter 63: Interlude: Justice League

On the watchtower, an alarm blared loudly for all its inhabitants to hear. Flash, who was on monitor duty was abruptly woken up as he sped toward the monitor.

Pressing a few buttons, a holographic screen showing the events currently occurring in Tokyo. With a look of shock, he quickly opened up the communication channel.

"I need all available members in Tokyo. Brainiac is attacking the city!" He reported through the comms as he watched a blurry figure slash through robots while another one stood behind him watching.

The thing they both had in common was that their faces were blurred despite it being a live feed.

"There are two unknown people fighting back but I don't know how long they'll last. Sending coordinates now, hurry!" He urged.

Batman who was in Gotham frowned as flash's voice filtered through the comms in his cowl. He had done his best to avert attention from Tokyo. Even robin was unaware of anything abnormal going on in Tokyo that involved Sora.

Clark Kent on the other hand was immediately panicked and worried. He quickly excused himself as he discreetly changed into his superhero persona to make his way over there.

Sora who stood in front of the ship still pouring out robots onto the streets, looked at the alien vehicle coldly.

His chakra surged around him as it became visible, a purple ribcage made of chakra forming around him. Two skeletal arms formed from the sides before growing muscle like mass a second later.

Chakra condensed around the partial Susano's left arm as a purple bow made of chakra formed in the left am. The other hand stretched back as if holding an arrow.

A second later, black flames formed around the right arm, condensing into an arrow shape. He pulled it back to its limit before releasing it with a powerful sound.

Even with the sounds of battle around them, the arrow seemed to travel in silence.

*BOOOMMMMM!!!*

The arrow exploded into the ship with a loud sound. The material of the ship stood no chance against the power of Amaterasu as it burnt through the ship but Sora wasn't done.

His eyes opened a bit wider as his chakra pulsed. The black flames exploded out once more, now big enough to devour the entire ship which it did as the flames enveloped the alien vehicle.

Within the span of ten seconds, the ship was nothing more than a large pile of ashes that was still burning.

Tai on the other hand sliced through the final robot. With the alien ship gone, the numbers had stopped being replenished. Now there were no more left.

The ground was littered in robot parts but that could easily be taken care off. Sora had more pressing matters on his hands.

"Tai…" Sora called to him, trailing off as the boy nodded.

Just like he appeared, he melded back into Sora's shadow as Zatanna floated down towards them with a slightly bored look on her face.

Sora turned to the side, looking into the far distance, seemingly seeing something that others couldn't.

"It looks like they're here. Let's go for now. Our trip has been postponed till further notice." He said, putting his hand on Zatanna's shoulder.

In a quick black flash, they disappeared, the parking lot now devoid of their presences. Barely a few seconds after they left, a red blur dashed into the scene before coming to a stop.

A few moments later, it was joined by a blue blur that flew above the city level before descending quickly to the scene.

Superman looked at Flash who was looking at the dismantled robot parts in confusion.

"Where's Brainiac?!" He asked agitatedly as Flash turned to him, shrugging his shoulders.

"These are his robots…or at least what's left of them. One of Brainiac's robot ships deployed here and started tearing up the place." He explained as he sped around the scene still looking a bit confused.

"Where's the ship now?" The man of steel asked, looking around for said ship causing the speedster to come to a halt.

"I don't know. What I do know is that this is where it landed." He said pointing to an area that had intense black scorch marks scarring the ground.

Observing the scorch marks, their confusion with the entire situation grew even more.

"The two people who fought back…where are they?" Superman asked as he used his X-ray vision to scout their surroundings.

"That's the thing. They were gone when I got here." The speedster answered soberly.

"Do you think…?" Flash asked Superman before trailing off.

"We need to find them. If they're the ones who did this then maybe they could tell us more about what happened. Perhaps even help us take him down." Superman concluded.

The members of the Justice league had now gathered in the meeting on the watchtower.

"We need to find out what exactly happened in Tokyo. Brainiac's arrival is no trivial matter." Wonderwoman said, the others silently listening until Flash spoke up.

"Then there's the fact that we don't even know where the big guy is. Even worse, whoever it was that fought off his robots hadn't been found." The speedster spoke.

"The watchtower systems are working on identifying them. Whoever they were, they were somehow able to mask their faces from being seen by cameras." Green Arrow said from his seat.

"What attack Japan? Superman is usually his target and he hasn't even been sighted anywhere near Tokyo." Canary offered with a thoughtful look on her face.

The table was silent as they tried to figure out the possible motive for the sudden attack. Superman suddenly turned to Batman who had since been silent.

"Batman, is anything wrong? You haven't said a word since we started this meeting." Superman asked the dark knight who had a serious look on his face.

As the years went by, the man had been increasingly broody and serious with everything he involved himself in. It was hard to notice for those who weren't close to him but for those like Superman, it was easier to see.

"Nothing's wrong. We need to find out where Brainiac is and figure out what his plan is. After that, we take him down." Batman said in a gruff voice.

"Easier said than done." Wonderwoman chimed in, causing the man's eyes to narrow in seriousness.

Sora and Zatanna appeared in the room in the mansion in a black flash. They appeared in the air above the bed, falling down to the soft bed.

"That was fun. Except for the fact that I didn't do anything." She said with a faux angry pout as her back lay on the bed.

"Sorry about that. You'll get another chance to stretch your legs a bit. After all, an idiot just decided to barge into my city." He said seriously with a slightly irritated look on his face.

"Brainiac? I read about him from the Justice league public records. Doesn't he always go after Superman? Why would he come here this time?" She asked herself out loud.

"I don't know but I can always find out." Sora answered as a damaged robot appeared in his hand from his inventory.

He had discreetly grabbed one of them during the fight. They obviously had orders that were programmed into them. It should be easy enough to figure out what it was with the hacking skill maxed out.

"He's not currently in Tokyo or [Eye of the Sky] would've picked him up already. Brainiac made the mistake of setting his eyes here. I guess the earth is about to have one less conqueror hovering over its shoulder." He said as he got off the bed.
