I apologize for the 6-month hiatus. Life hit me in the gonads pretty hard but now I'm here to continue it after I organize everything and sort out the mess I left behind. Thanks for reading! --- The apocalypse is hard to survive in but Lucas Walker would say it was impossible. Having been thrown grumpily into the apocalypse from a long-deserved nap Lucas finds himself in a hell hole that is the apocalypse. Beasts of horrifying strength are everywhere and portals to other worlds have opened leaking strange energies and beings from them. With everyone in the world in chaos will Lucas be able to survive with the special class he received from the system that everyone has? --- By the way, the main class doesn't give many bonuses in the short term and only really comes to full power later on.

Chapter 1Chapter 1: Welcome to The Apocalypse Kid

It was a normal day. Lucas would go to his crappy construction job that was mostly brute labor and eat his packed lunch that contained a simple sandwich inside and two energy drinks. It was a powerful meal that most would call unhealthy but it was just the grub Lucas needed to keep going in this hell hole of a planet he called home.

Lucas found himself walking home from work in the busy streets of the nearing night. The stars just started to peak out of the dark clouds that covered the sky. Lucas jiggled the door to his apartment complex to find that it wouldn't budge again.

"Ugh, not again." Lucas sighed before putting his shoulder against the door and letting loose a grunt as he brute-forced the stuck door. His tired body slammed against the wooden door and it slammed open as Lucas walked inside and slammed it shut.

He slowly climbed up three flights of stairs before reaching his crappy one-room apartment. The door quickly opened up as the jingling of keys could be heard resounding through the dark hallway of the apartment complex. But to Lucas's surprise, the door was already unlocked.

"Really?!" He said underneath his breath as he opened the door preparing for the earful he was about to receive.

The apartment was small and as he entered he found himself in one of the two rooms of the apartment, that being the bedroom/kitchen and the bathroom. His bed was squished into the corner of the room and sitting on it was a woman in her late fifties who looked at him with a frown with obvious anger in her eyes.

Lucas sighed again before beginning to speak before rudely being cut off by the old lady whose stark white hair was braided slightly and hanging at her waist.

"Your three days late on rent Lucas. I can't let you live here for free and you know it."

"Susan are you serious? I get paid every Friday and that's tomorrow and you know that. Why do you keep hassling me every other day? I will have your money and you know it." Lucas let out a gruff reply.

"Because I can't tolerate late rent every month. This is the fourth month in a row Lucas. You better have your stuff out of here in two weeks or your toast. I'll call up the boys and they will make your life hell. I already got a tenant ready to pay on time every week almost double what you pay so make yourself useful and clear out of here, will you?"

Lucas let out another sigh before nodding.

'This is the third place this year. I thought things would get better but one shitty landlord after another and all I do is get kicked out.' Lucas thought to himself as Susan left the room with one last mean glance at him.

Lucas tossed his lunch box on the ground next to his bed before sinking into the thick and firm mattress he owned.

It was time for a nap and a nap he would have. But when he woke up the world was much different. Much, much different...

---

A pounding on his door woke him up first. Then the rumbling in the ground and the fact that his bed was visibly and physically shaking in its place.

"What the hell!?" Lucas shouted as he stood up, fully clothed.

"Let me in!" Susan's voice echoed out from behind the door.

'Is there an earthquake or something?'

Lucas quickly made his way to the door and ripped it open before Susan came stumbling into his room and slammed the door behind her.

She held a small pocket knife that was covered in a black liquid and was holding her shoulder with a pained expression on her face and after closer inspection, there was a bloody gash that was so deep that Lucas could see bone.

"What's going on out there?" Lucas said with confusion evident on his face and in his voice.

Susan looked at him with pain etched into her face and she let out a sob before answering.

"Monsters. Creatures just started appearing and these screens are in front of our faces and... and... they killed my boys. They fucking killed them!" She screamed and shortly after the rumbling intensified.

Susan seemed to realize what she had done in that instant and her expression turned into one of seriousness... almost as if she was fighting to survive.

"Hurry up and update your status to make yourself useful and grab whatever weapon you can find!" She said as she barred herself against the door as it began to rattle as if something was battering against it.

"What the hell is a status?!" Lucas asked but his answer was quickly received as a strange panel appeared in front of him.

'What the fuck is this?' Lucas thought before realizing it was almost like a game.

'I guess physical stats would be the best for me...' Lucas thought as he realized his heavy build and strength seemed to pave a path for him that others might not readily have.

'Put 5 points into endurance, 3 into dexterity, and 2 into strength!' Lucas thought hurriedly as he made his way towards his bed before diving underneath it to find a baseball bat he had from his younger years.

"Will this work?!" He asked Susan who nodded in response.

"In three seconds I'm gonna open the door. When that happens beat the living shit out of the creature that comes through it. It's the only way to live. I'll try and stab it as much as possible. I put all my points into dexterity to run away from it so I should be able to get quite a few swipes in before it offs me!"

Lucas nodded in understanding and readied his bat to swing.

"3!" Susan shouted.

The rumbling seemed to intensify as the door creaked at its hinges from the pressure.

"2!"

The door seemed to be on the verge of collapsing as Susan gritted her teeth in pain.

"1!" She screamed as she jumped away from the door and brandished her dagger.

What came from that door was something that was otherworldly...

A creature that was nearly 8 feet tall leaned down and slammed into the room. It had two large mandibles on the front of its face and its body was covered in pitch black chitin. Other than that however was the wriggling worms that made up the inside of its body that was white with some red almost as if filled with blood.

The creature struck decisively and without mercy as it began its attack against Susan. The pincers came down upon her head and in one moment her head was about to be cut off but in the next, she ducked with lightning-like speed and while she did so she even managed to get a few cuts in though the knife didn't do much but seem to irritate it.

'Nows a better time than ever' Lucas thought to himself as he swung down at the creature's head and felt a sickening reverberation echo throughout the room and through his body as he cracked through the hard exoskeleton of the creature dealing some serious damage.

'I'm not even tired!' Lucas thought as he slammed the baseball bat a few more times until the creature was thoroughly destroyed... other than the mass of wriggling worms of course.

<You have gained 80 XP for killing the LV 8 Night Crawler. You require 20 XP until you level up to level 2>

A prompt appeared in front of him after the creature was killed telling him how much XP he had acquired.

Though the 'Night Crawler', as this weird prompt thing called it, was dead Susan didn't look any better as her breathing turned ragged and she slumped to the ground while silently motioning towards the door.

Lucas closed it quietly while shoving the remains of the creature outside... besides the head which was heavily dented into the floor.

A strange clicking noise echoed from outside the door as a rumbling could be heard yet the creature seemed to have moved past them as their door was left intact.

Lucas went and grabbed a spare shirt and used it to try and stem the blood that was oozing out of Susan's wound but it seemed like he was out of luck as she finally slumped to her side silently.

"Fucking Hell" were the last words he got out before a prompt came up in front of him...

Armipotent

This is a work of fiction, any names, characters, stories or events, are fictitious! (Even the country in the story is just the author's fantasy as the author never visited those countries in the story) Armipotent is an archaic adjective meaning "strong in battle." Basically, it refers to someone who is physically tough in war. Originally, it was used to refer to the Roman god of war, Mars. ===================== Tang Shaoyang, an orphan who dropped out of the middle school to fight on the street as he found out school was useless for a penniless orphan like him. Tang Shaoyang dropped out of his school, fighting on the street, and made a name for himself. Berserker Tang from Youyouliucun. Afterward, Dragon Wing triad recruited him and everything was good for him. Even though the public deemed him as a tumor of society, Tang Shaoyang was having a decent life. Until one day, everything changed as an absurd and strange game started. "... Game starts! Stage one: Survival for The Fittest!" After the game started, zombies appeared out of nowhere. ... Ding! "You have killed 1000 zombies less than 24 hours since the game started! You gained 3 Talents!" Dong! "You may choose 3 Talents! please choose carefully!" Tang Shaoyang held his chin and mused what Talent he had to choose. "With Zombies appear everywhere, I need an infinite strength... this is one, I still need to choose 2 Talents more..." Then a lewd smile formed on his lips. "I want an infinite strength, charm and charisma to conquer women, and the last one, I want to upgrade my **** so I can please my women!" After saying this, Tang Shaoyang laughed aloud. "Hahaha, there's no way such talent exists... ehhhhh?!!!" Ding! Dong! "3 Talents are consumed! You have been granted Divine Body! Good Luck, Gamer Tang Shaoyang!" Tang Shaoyang immediately checked the detail of Divine Body. After a brief silence, he muttered unbelievably. "Such Talents really exist..." Young Master's PoV: Woke Up As A Villain In A Game One Day

"Now you see?" she shouted in a tone that was somewhere between annoyance and disappointment. "You can’t outsmart Scrients! They’re the most intelligent beings across the two realms!" "You’re right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a solemn sigh. "I made a mistake. I was arrogant to think a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "...Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I’m not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait! You can’t. I killed them all." --- My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid and pointless scuffle. And in the middle of it, I tripped and smacked my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in… Memories of a different life. Memories of another world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First: I was inside a game I used to play in my past life. Second: I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool, mysterious, tragic kind either! No, I was the worst kind of cliché — a spoiled, insufferable, and arrogant young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. You know the type! The one everyone hates. The one the hero would beat into the ground to show everyone just how strong and righteous he is. Yeah. I was that guy! My fate was to be a stepping stone for the main characters, be manipulated by a Demon Prince, and die a dog's death. And the hero? The hero was the same kid I’d been bullying all this time. The one I just got into a fight with. He was supposed to be the savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And waiting at the end of it all was the final antagonist. The unbeatable nightmare. …The Spirit King. But could I even make it to the end? Could I really survive in a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that had now become my reality? “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could. But I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, altering the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains long before they could become threats — nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected by my actions? Excellent! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me. My survival. My life. My choices. “I’ll live this life with no regrets.” ...But as I soon discovered, fate wasn't so easily changed. And the price of rewriting your destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR

I'm not too familiar with system novels bcz I haven't read a lot of them. I know they're currently mainstream but this one doesn't fall very short. I've read a few chapters now and I decided it's about time I gave a review on it. Synopsis: Not bad. It's detailed enough to get the reader to understand what the book is about and it doesn't betray your expectations. Writing Quality: This isn't bad but it isn't perfect either when it comes to grammar. The word choices are okay and it's fluent enough for anyone to read. However, I noticed a few missing punctuation marks, run-on sentences, and sometimes unnecessary wording. I know it can be difficult to get your English perfect because it is a tricky language but the grammar isn't bad by any means. It isn't perfect but it's FAR from unreadable. Good work. Story Development: IMO, this isn't bad. As stated before, I haven't seen many system novels because they aren't exactly my cup of teaching (Apart from Solo leveling. That was fire🔥 lol). However, from what I've seen, the book at the very least has potential. It's just up to the author to do what he can to bring out the full potential of this book. Many will gravitate to it if this is done right. I am certain of that. Character Design: I don't usually mark for this because it's up to the reader's preferences sometimes, whether or not they want described characters or if they wish to use their imagination. However, I'm a fan of descriptive writing. It brings flair and pizazz. Updating Stability: From what I've seen so far, updates are constant enough. The author doesn't lag very much. Readers will appreciate that. World Background: IMO, could use a little more flavor. I hope I'm not forgetting anything cause I tend to have a forgetful memory when it comes to smaller details. However, the world background isn't bad but it could use more. As stated before, I'm a fan of descriptive writing so yeah. Overall: This book isn't bad and it has potential without a doubt. Currently, to be 100% honest, it doesn't seem all that binge-worthy to me as I could hardly find much motivation to read more than 2 chapters a day (But don't let this bother you. Few books give me that binge-worthy feeling). However, as stated before, the book has potential and the author seems creative enough to go further. Readers, support the author and you'll have a FANTASTIC story. Message to the author: I know writing can be difficult, speaking from my experiences. However, don't give up. If you enjoy writing then keep at it and you'll get better without a shadow of the doubt. You'll sometimes see collections fluctuate. Today you might gain 3 then tomorrow you lose 4. But that's all part of the process. Don't be afraid of going back through older chapters and making adjustments if you deem it necessary. And most of all, don't give up. Remember this always; if you don't like the story you're writing then there's a high chance that the readers won't either. So have confidence and good luck!
