8 Chapter 8: Class Evolution and Upgrades

Lucas went to bed that night happily. He had crafted a Mythic item and gained a sweet title, what was there to be upset about?

After waking up and eating a single can of peaches and drinking a bottle of water Lucas began checking the system out and reading through all his past messages and evaluating what was going on.

Some new tabs had appeared over the course of the last few days that he hadn't checked out but that was mostly because they seemed fairly boring. There was <Current Bonuses>, <Current Resistances>, and <Equipment>. All of them were basically as their name suggests and didn't have anything but math and jargon in them.

He was still number one for now but other than that he saw nothing interesting except for the fact that his <Builder> class was ready to evolve which he was already informed of. It was kind of cheaty for him to be able to evolve it simply by getting a title but, hey, what can you do? Not get stronger?

'System, evolve the <Builder> class!' Lucas thought with excitement as he stared at the rest of the materials he had.

<Ding!~ Evolution in progress!>

---

<Please choose one of the following evolution paths for the <Builder> class!>:

<Relic Master: Rarity: Rare>Evolution is capped at this level:

Making Relics is your business. You have the ability to make objects that have a unique magical affinity with them. They provide special bonuses but because you specialize in this field you lose the ability to work on buildings and lose any Architect-based skills.

<Tinkerer: Rarity: Uncommon>:

A little bit of patchwork science anywhere is enough to get things going in a good flow. You can use your busted science knowledge to create minor electrical contraptions that are useful to the user.

<Architect: Rarity: Common>:

Shapes, Angles, and Materials are all you need to make a building... except labor of course, though you have yourself for that!

<Please choose one of the above choices>

<In addition you will unlock one subclass skill point upon evolution as well as a new passive and active skill for your new subclass>

---

'Interesting...' Lucas thought while scanning through the options.

'<Relic Master> Seems to be busted for me currently so that will probably be what I go with but the other two seem to have interesting ideas behind them as well. But why is its evolution capped? Didn't that one skill I have, say that all skills and classes could evolve to tier 10?'

'Anyways, <Tinkerer> seems to be the gateway path for electronics and maybe a path akin to a mechanic while <Architect> seems to be obvious where that is heading.'

'I would hate for a limit to be reached on my subclass but I guess I have to trust my skills...'

'I choose <Relic Master>!'

---

<<Relic Master> has been chosen... Initializing evolution... skill options have been gained. New slots have been gained. 1 Skill point for <Relic Master> has been granted.>

<<Architects mind> has been removed due to Unique Requirements>

<Starting Stat bonuses>:

+ 20 Control

+ 10 Intelligence

+10 Power

<Skills that are currently available to you>:

<Open slots: One active and Two Passive.>

<Previous ranks skills>:

Actives:

<Construct: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common>

<Steady Hands: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Uncommon>

Passives:

<Well Crafted Tools: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Very Rare>

<Weight of A Thousand Stones: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Uncommon>

<Current Ranks beginning skills>:

Active:

<Imbue: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Rare>

Passive:

<Ancient Sense: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Rare>

---

'Are there definitions of any of these new ones?' Lucas thought as he read through the large list of skills.

<Negative. Since the User has not 'Unlocked' Them the User will not be able to see descriptions until chosen.>

'Okay, I guess...'

'I suppose let's go to the first on the list...'

'<Construct> I've seen it before and it was okay but I would rather take my gamble on something else.'

'<Steady hands> seems like it could be good but holds too much simplicity to it to be chosen as my only remaining active skill.'

'<Well Crafted Tools> Seems really good and it's a very rare skill so why not choose it for one of my passives? System, Choose <Well Crafted Tools>'

<The User has chosen <Well Crafted Tools>. The User has 1 active slot and one passive slot remaining.>

'Now on to <Weight of a thousand stones>... Seems like a strange skill but it's only uncommon so I will pass for now. Maybe I'll have the chance to come back to it later.'

'<Imbue> Seems similar to fortify judging by its name, so I think I will choose it for now. I can always get a new skill in the future... probably.'

<User has chosen <Imbue>, User has one passive skill remaining.>

'Now finally, <Ancient Sense>. It's a rare skill and has an interesting name and just from being rare, I think it's worth taking it over the other passive from earlier. I choose you <Ancient Sense>!'

<User has chosen the three skills: <Well Crafted Tools>, <Ancient Sense>, and <Imbue>. Is this correct?>

"Bingo!"

<User has gained the three skills that have been chosen. Please give them a look in your skill panel.>

'Show me those sweet new skills, baby!' Lucas thought as excitement filled him. It was time for an upgrade and he was starting to think this feeling was bad as it was nearing an addiction.

---

<Actives:>

---

<Imbue: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Rare>: Requirement: Have one level in the <Relic Master> subclass.

The user has learned the ancient art of imparting mana into an object to give it power. Effects depend on items' quality and mana spent and intent. Doing so turns an item into a Relic. Relics cannot be improved further!

---

<Passives:>

---

<Ancient Sense: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Rare>: Requirement:Have one level in <Relic Master>

You can sense the age of creatures and objects around you as well as their level and rarity if they have them.

---

<Well Crafted Tools: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Very Rare>: Requirement: Create a Very Rare item.

You understand what a good tool is and a bad tool is and because of this, you know how to bring the best out of a weapon. You gain 50% increased XP towards weapon-based skills while using a weapon of your own design. In addition to this, you deal a passive 1% extra true damage on every attack.

---

'<Imbue> seems to be the main feature of the class and seems oddly familiar to <Improved Fortify>. It seems like it could be powerful with enough preparation and good materials just like <Improved Fortify>' Lucas thought as shivers of euphoria crept down his spine.

'<Ancient sense> seems to be something like the 'Identify' Skill that I used to read about in fantasy books. Pretty good but not too powerful. Perhaps it will be better at higher levels...'

'Finally <Well Crafted Tools>... Where to start with this one? It seems incredibly powerful and should increase my progress with <Night Bat> and weapons in general by leaps and bounds. The true damage also seems like it could be busted at higher levels.'

'Let's take a look at my updated status,'

[A/N: For those who want to skip all the numbers and stuff feel free to just skip down a bit and continue reading after. This is just a refresher of everything for those who want to know. After this Lucas will evolve a skill and continue on with his life lol. This will be a lot so I won't judge if you skip it.]

'So there is a couple of things I need to do...' Lucas thought as he began looking at his status more in-depth than before.'

'First of all, I need to evolve a skill in the<Relic Master> Class.'

'Then I need to test soul sight and my other skills and maybe go out looking for survivors while hunting beasts for supplies. '

'So what skill should I evolve?' Lucas pondered while already secretly knowing what he was about to choose.

'The winner is... Drum roll, please!!! <Improved Fortify>!' Lucas thought while playing imaginary drums in the air in front of him.

If he could have a tier 2 skill this early on then he would be basically crazy powerful... even compared to now. Or at least that was what he guessed.

<User wants to evolve <Improved Fortify> With <Relic Master> Skill point?>

'Oui!' Lucas said with some of his french skills from high school kicking in.

<Beginning upgrade process.>

---

<Please choose from the following three options for your evolution path of <Improved Fortify>>

<Fortify: Quality / Rarity: Rare / Evolution block reached>

Using this skill the user can change the quality of an item and upgrade it significantly while also making the item stronger as you do so. This skill is less effective the higher the quality of the item you are using it on.

< Fortify: Rarity/ Rarity: Very Rare / Evolution block reached>

Using this skill allows you to improve the rarity of an object making it vastly more powerful at the cost of a high amount of Stamina.

<Master Fortify / Rarity: Rare / Evolution block reached>

Increases Rarity and Quality of an item while maintaining a decent increase in stamina drain. This skill is less powerful than any of its counterparts but is more balanced.

<Please choose one of the above choices>

---

'Looks like this is the end of the road for the fortify. Unless...' Lucas thought of the skill that stated that it increased the evolution path of skill or class.

'I still don't know if it will work but that seems broken if no one else has that... Imagine choosing the wrong path and being locked at tier two while all my skills slowly become tier 10!' Lucas said while laughing maniacally.

'I think I best choose the Rarity increase since that seems to be the stronger of the three.' Lucas thought as he finally decided to specialize.

<Evolution in progress... Evolution complete! Please check your skill page for the updated skill.>

Lucas was just about to go to the new skill until he saw something out of the corner of his eye...
