15 Chapter 15: Memories of The Past and The Hospital

A black door opened up into a room that was filled with people laying on the ground with their hands on their heads. Lucas examined his surroundings and instantly realized what was going on.

'Not again...' Lucas sighed to himself as he felt his body move without his consent.

Lucas stepped into the room and raised a shotgun into the air before pumping it and sending a shot into the ceiling towards a camera.

"Everyone stay where they are or else they get a pound of lead through their fucking skull!" He yelled out loud and a few screams of terror were let out by the people in the building.

His eyes darted around the room and Lucas could feel the adrenalin rush kick in from the situation.

'Crystal Tech Bank... Man, I wish I could just forget all of this.' Lucas thought to himself as his body moved forward motioning towards a man who was standing with a mask on his face that displayed a jack of spades on it.

"I think the cops are outback. We gotta make this quick or we might be toast." Lucas's voice echoed out.

The man nodded and headed towards the back of the building in a sprint... directly towards the vault.

Three more men with varying suits of cards on their faces ran through the building from behind Lucas and started gagging and tying people down with various military-grade handcuffs and zip ties.

Lucas stood in the center of the room not bothering with the menial work and waited for his partner to enter.

A man who looked to be of an average height with black hair peppered with white flakes of physical age entered last and casually walked towards Lucas.

"Ah... King of hearts! Long time no see." The man said almost as if he was casually playing a game of poker. It was so calm yet hidden behind his voice was a sense of mysteriousness that seemed to be as if he was holding his cards against his chest.

"It's been an hour Ethan..." Lucas said back with a smile, though that was hidden underneath his mask.

"Don't call me that in front of the civilian's King. You know I like being called the player after all." Ethan said and at that moment something clicked in Lucas's head.

'Ethan... The player...'

'Fucking hell the number one player before me was that asshole?!' Lucas thought angrily.

"Luckey! Wake up!" Lina's voice echoed through his mind as he felt his entire body being shaken until he snapped awake.

Lucas found himself dripped in sweat and a wave of sensations hit him like a truck. Some that he hadn't even felt in his entire life.

The room was bright, brighter than anything he had seen since the power had shut down across the city. Lucas felt a glare fill his eyes as he groggily wiped the sleep out of his eyes.

His hands shook as he lifted them weakly to his face. But while doing this the sounds around him finally clicked.

There were actual people in the room. Real people. Or at least that was what it sounded like.

"We can't just let two random strangers into the hospital, Jane!" A male voice rattled his mind.

"You know what Mich? You were once a random stranger! I can help whoever I want and you can't stop me. You're not the leader around here... I am." A female voice echoed out which was much more pleasant to the ears compared to the males' nasally voice.

As Lucas got his vision back he noticed where he actually was and just as the man said from before they were in a hospital.

The lights were on and on top of that, he could hear the faint sounds of beeping coming from the distance, something akin to a heart monitor if he had to guess.

Lucas felt something touch his skin and a quick pinch and as he turned to see the source of it he found himself face to face with a teenage boy with a needle collecting blood from him.

After the boy finished collecting the blood he waved his hand at him with a peace sign attached and spoke up.

"Yo. Nice to see you finally awake." The younger boy said before heading away with his blood.

"What the hell?" Lucas mumbled as he turned around the room to look at who was previously speaking.

A man and a woman stood about an arm's length away from him and looked to both be doctors of some sort.

They both were wearing scrubs and wearing a white coat over them. The woman had a nameplate that read 'Jane Roseby', while the man didn't have any form of identification on him.

Lina kept poking at Lucas's face and almost seemed to be checking if he was really alive or not.

Lucas turned his head towards Lina and gave her a good look over to make sure she was okay only to notice that tears were streaming down her face.

"W-whats wrong Lina?" He asked weakly as his body shook as he tried to stand up.

She sobbed out loud as she began to hug him with a vice-like grip.

"Y-You fell asleep and you w-wouldn't wake up!" She cried.

"A-and while I tried to wake you up strange men came and tried to take me away!"

"But don't worry Lukey... I made sure that they would leave me alone so you could take me to the ocean! I made sure that they disappeared!" She said and instantly Lucas's heart was crushed.

'Man I'm an idiot.' was the only thought that entered his head as he hugged her back.

"I'm so so so sorry for doing that. The system made me fall asleep and I guess made me like this." He said while feeling tears well in his eyes.

'Why the hell am I even crying because a little girl I met literally two days ago misses me?' Lucas asked himself as he felt salty water stream down his face.

"Ah, your finally awake" (A/N: If you know you know) Said Jane as she left the man stuttering in protest in his place and went to his bedside to check his pulse and check on his vitals.

"You were out for quite a while and there was seemingly no reason why. Though now that the apocalypse is in place I couldn't really get a good read on your state anyways."

Lucas hesitantly nodded and checked his health with the system as he realized he was feeling shittier by the minute.

[Name:]

Lucas Walker

Race: Psychic

Health: 1300/1300

Stamina: 4/130

---

"My stamina is at 4... that's not normal..." Lucas said to Jane as he felt himself get paler and paler by the second.

After a moment the girl looked confused before understanding.

"Ah, yeah stamina. I'm not sure. Usually, people's stamina is at around 10 so you should be a little tired but fine overall." She replied but while she was talking his stamina went down again by one point.

"I-It went down again," Lucas said with a hint of fear filling his voice.

Her eyes scanned him up and down before replying with a simple answer.

"I don't know what to do. I checked you for everything I could and you seem to be fine. The only other thing I could think of is that you might be using a skill on accident that might cause you to have a stamina drain?"

Lucas let out a sigh of relief before turning off his <Sensory Overdrive> skill.

'I forgot I left that on... I guess you can't really turn off skills if you pass out cold on the ground.'

"I turned it off," Lucas answered as a wave of relief filled him.

Lucas was about to stand up before noticing that his left leg was cuffed to the bed with restraints.

"No sir, you're not going anywhere anytime soon," Jane said as she stepped a pace away, just out of arms reach.

"You see... your blood is a bit different from anyone else I have seen. It might be an underlying condition but it seems to make your blood cells glow slightly as well as move faster than the average person."

"So you are to be under direct supervision from here on out," she said with a smirk on her face.

Lucas looked at her as if she was dumb and looked back at Lina who was smiling at him.

Lucas shook his head Jane and simply yanked at the restraints and snapped them with one quick pull.

"What was that about not going anywhere?" He said as he stood up without a problem.

'Man I'm already feeling better' Lucas thought as he started to regenerate stamina quickly due to his high endurance stat.
