11 Chapter 11: The Ocean and The Fairy

"How did you... Do that?!" Lucas sputtered to which Lina simply laughed in reply.

"It's magic silly! Couldn't you see the wand?" She said while waving the wand with a star on the end and pink frills in front of his face though she had to reach up on her tippy toes just to get there.

"But-" Lucas stopped himself before continuing. He then proceeded to take a deep breath and collect himself.

'I'm not even gonna question it. There is no point in questioning what happens in this hellscape. She easily defeated a beast that would have most likely killed me,'

Lucas still had a good chunk of his health left but the pain was real.

'I wonder if there is any way to deal with that' Lucas thought while gritting his teeth as his mind began to register his broken leg.

"I'm as good as dead with this thing..." Lucas said while thinking of how it would take forever to heal and would greatly affect his mobility.

"Don't worry stranger! I can take care of you." The girl said while stars seemed to light up in her eyes from happiness.

"I took something from those strange mean men that came here and it can make the booboos go away!"

Lucas looked at Lina with hesitation.

'Strange mean men? Must have been the people who looted the store.'

"Alright. I guess I don't really have any options left." Lucas grunted.

Lina squealed in delight before reaching into a small pink bookbag with the picture of a black cat on it and bringing out what seemed to be a vial filled with a sparkling red liquid.

"I present to you," Lina paused as she held the vial in front of her as if she was at an auction. "A magical healing potion."

"Oooh!" She said mimicking an audience that didn't exist.

"Any takers?!" She shouted as she raised her hand and pointed around the room at her invisible audience.

Lucas slowly raised his hand into the air with a dumb expression on his face.

"Ah yes! The man with the crooked leg. What is your bet?" Lina said as she stopped pointing at him and raised her finger to her face, mimicking a mustache with it.

'My life is in the hands of a kid... how funny.'

"Um... I have some rations I could split with you..." Lucas said hesitantly.

"No-no-no, that won't do at all!" Lena said in mock surprise.

"I have a better offer Mister crooked leg."

"How about you take me to... The ocean!" She said as sheer glee appeared on her face.

"What?" A look of dumbfounded appeared on Lucas's face as he stared at the little girl in front of him.

"Are you joking?"

"We are smack dab in the middle of the continent! How the hell am I supposed to get you all the way to the coast? Especially in the middle of a freaking apocalypse?!" Lucas said, his voice climbing louder and louder.

Lina froze for a moment. Her face and previous grandeur melted slowly into a pout. Her eyes slowly glistened with water as a tear fell down her face.

Lucas instantly felt guilt bubble in him as he saw the previously ecstatic girl in front of him fall into a state of disrepair.

"Ugh... for the freaking healing potion I will try my best... Okay?" He said in defeat.

The girl's face instantly cleared up as if it was just a dream and she squealed and ran towards him, hugging his broken leg with a smile on her face.

"Thank you so much mister crooked leg!"

Lucas let out a loud yelp before pushing her off of him.

'This kid's fucking crazy!"

The girl giggled at his response and slowly handed him the healing potion which he grabbed happily.

He unscrewed the vial and downed it quickly before noticing a warming sensation flooding his body. He let out a little sigh of relief as his leg righted itself in an instant.

'That's more like it.' He thought as he looked at Lina once more.

"Let's hunker down for the night then," Lucas said as he wasn't about to break a promise. He wasn't that type of guy after all.

---

After resting in the bathroom for a while Lucas and Lina woke up to the streets being clear of most beasts.

"Crooked Leg Man... I never got your name," Lina asked shyly as she seemed to have realized that Crooked Leg Man was too long of a name.

Lucas looked at her with a smirk.

'Thank god!'

"It's Lucas. Lucas walker."

Lina nodded in response.

It was quite out in the early morning. The beasts of the night had seemingly disappeared in thin air and the beasts of the day seemed to have followed in kind.

Lucas and Lina walked through the streets silently for quite a while with no real direction in mind.

After about twenty minutes later however Lucas broke the silence.

"So... Have you seen any survivors so far?"

Lina turned a shade paler at the question but managed to shake her head albeit a bit shaky.

'Poor Kid'

"I suppose if we are gonna be traveling together we ought to trade our combat information. It will help us out if we ever get in a fight" Lucas said as he thought of the terrifying power she demonstrated the day before.

Lina seemed to cheer up after the conversation topic changed and she nodded excitedly.

"No problem Lukey!"

"Ugh... Don't call me that," He said but noticed that Lina only smiled wider at his words "Please?" He winced.

"Not gonna happen Lukey. Or would you rather be Mister Crooked Leg?" She asked as a devilish grin appeared on her face.

"Lukey will do I guess."

Silence followed the two as they walked a little longer before the silence was broken again.

"I'm a water fairy... What about you Lukey?" Lina asked hesitantly. She seemed to fidget in place as she said that.

"Wait what? There are ways to become different creatures? And you look pretty human to me." Lucas said as he poked Lina in the cheek with his pointer finger.

Lina swatted his hand away and pouted before answering his question.

"It doesn't change what I am... It just gives me the powers of them I think."

"Makes sense I suppose," Lucas replied before going silent. He didn't understand much about the system so anything that she said couldn't be refuted and it's not that unlikely for the System to start stripping people of their title as humans.

Lina fidgeted for a few moments before speaking up.

"Aren't you gonna ask more questions? And what's your class?"

Luke felt a strange warmth fill his stomach as he began to answer.

"My class is-?!?!" Lucas doubled over in place as he felt a pain sear through his body.

<USER IS PROHIBITED FROM SPEAKING OF MAIN CLASS!>

'What the hell?' Lucas thought as he felt the pain slowly leave him.

<Strike 1>

"This is just Bullshit!" Lucas said aloud as he stood up straight.

Lina, who seemed to be worried at first, cocked her head to the side and looked at him in a pondering manner.

"So... Your class is... Bullshit?" She asked with a hushed tone as if afraid of saying such a mean word.

Lucas sighed before calming down.

"No... My class is Relic Master."

"It lets me create things like these," Lucas said while pointing at his sick goggles before grabbing his water bottle and taking a long drink.

Lina's pondering face turned to one of confusion.

"But those are lame. Is that all you can make?" She said innocently before sighing.

"I suppose people will never be as cool as a fairy-like me."

Lucas spit water out of his mouth before looking at Lina with surprise and anger.

'This is a god blessed item and she calls them lame?'

"It's a mythical item!" He harumphed.

"And?" Lina asked as her face continued to show confusion.

A look of disbelief showed on Lucas's face before he facepalmed.

"Ugh, I give up."
