Chapter 1Flowers at the top of a high mountain.

Takane no hana. A flower at the top of a tall mountain. A Japanese idiom, used when referring to something unattainable, out of reach, most of the time the love of a woman out of one's league.

For a man, one of the worst things to go through is being in the presence of an attractive woman yet having no chance to do anything to her. Nothing unusual about wanting to bed beautiful women, that's just how men are. But when such a desire is blocked one can only suffer in silence, unable to satisfy the urges raging inside.

One unfortunate man found himself in such a position on a daily basis. His name was Sam Sanderson, a twenty six years old brilliant scientist, one of the few left on earth. Though he had great intellect beyond what a normal human is capable of, luck had it that he'd be stuck doing a low-level job in a small, nearly abandoned military base. And as if that wasn't enough, what this job entailed made his life a nightmare.

"Hey, are we done here?"

A female voice shook him out of his daze. Closing his eyes, Sam let out a long sigh before shifting his gaze to meet the pair of golden eyes glaring at him.

Standing in front of him was a girl who looked like she barely hit fifteen, though looks were deceiving, with her being much younger than that. She was 4.6 feet tall with long brown hair extending all the way to the back of her knees. Her spotless skin had an almond color, a tan she'd obtained after spending too much time under the sun.

"Now now, no need to be rude to the doctor." Said another from beside her.

Compared to the first this one looked much older; an adult in her mid twenties, despite the age gap between the two being only a couple of years. She was a bit taller, with a much thicker and well endowed form. No, that would be an understatement. Her breasts, for example, were so huge one could only wonder how she was able to stand. Beautiful was one of the words that could be used to describe her face, blue sparkling eyes, and sweet smile that never disappeared. Her golden hair was long as well, though unlike the other one, it only went down to her plump ass.

Looking at the two Sam couldn't help but sigh. His eyes then went to the third one standing nearby. Though she was the tallest among the three, her most noticeable feature would be the long raven hair tied into a ponytail. Her body was more normal compared to the blond one, with full breasts and meaty ass. Adding to that her beautiful face, silent demeanor, and the strong vibes she gave, she was the very picture of a supermodel who'd make regular appearances on some fashion magazines.

"The examination is already done." Said the first, her arms crossed as she continued to glare. "He's wasting our time daydreaming like that."

"I'm sure Doctor has a lot on his mind." The second followed with a wry smile.

"Does it look like I care? I just want to go swimming already! These examinations are a waste anyway. Not like we're doing much around here."

"Don't say that. Making regular reports is part of our duties, you know."

Scenes like this had become a regular occurrence, and to the one forced to watch them, it was nothing short of psychological torture.

Three beautiful women stood in front of him, all dressed in leotard-like tight suits that left very little to the imagination. Everything about them seemed designed to bring out the worst in any man's heart. When faced with such outstanding beauties even the gayest man would turn straight.

However, there lies the problem. No matter how much one desired any of them, no one was allowed a single touch. It wasn't a matter of them being too prideful to accept anyone. It's simply that they were too valuable to let any man use them as an outlet for his natural desires.

"Alright." Taking his eyes off the three, Sam looked down at the tablet in his hands. "As usual, nothing out of the ordinary. You're free to go."

"Finally!" The first raised her arms in celebration.

"Ah, Zero Three, the HQ sent a word back after the last report." He said, pouring cold water on her excitement. "They said to use the outdoor pool less often."

"EEEEEH!! But I don't want to!"

"Well, I'm only the messenger. As for you, Nine. Refrain from consuming junk food as much as possible." He said, turning his sight to the blond one.

"Eh!? But why!? It's not like I'll get fat or-" Coming to a sudden stop, the blond one blushed and lowered her gaze. "Um… well, I'll try…"

"The only one to cause no trouble is Zero Five, huh." Sam turned to the last of the three. "You two should learn a little from her example. Anyways, you're dismissed."

"You can keep your advice to yourself, old man." The first to go was the tanned one, Zero Three. Though she didn't like being compared to the much more disciplined Zero Five, her mood got much worse after she was ordered to stay away from the outdoor pool.

"Doctor, thank you for the hard work." The one he referred to as Nine bowed politely before taking her leave as well.

The only ones remaining in the room were Sam and Zero Five. Expecting her to follow the others without saying a word as she usually does, he turned his chair and went on with his work.

A couple of minutes passed as he typed his daily report. With it being another peaceful day it didn't take long for him to finish, but just as he was about to save the file a voice called for him.

"Doctor…"

Sam was startled, his glasses almost falling off. Turning around, he put them back on with shaky hands and smiled nervously.

"It's unusual for you to speak without being addressed. Is something amiss, Zero Five?"

"No… well, yes…"

He noticed the conflicted expression she showed while pondering her answer. It was the first time her mask had fallen. He was sure he never saw her like this.

After a moment of hesitation, the girl took a deep breath. She tried to compose herself but failed in the end. Not only was the way she acted out of character, but to Sam, the person tasked with observing and keeping a close eye on her, she seemed strangely human.

'The results of the examination showed nothing…' he thought to himself, eyes still on the girl. 'Why is she acting so… strange?'

A few seconds passed before she spoke again, and with each word that came out of her mouth, the strange feeling Sam got grew stronger.

"Doctor, there is a question that has been on my mind for some time now." She said, her eyes going down.

"Ask away. It's part of my job to answer any questions you might have."

Looking relieved for a moment, Zero Five raised her head and met Sam's gaze. He had many speculations in his mind, however never did he begin to imagine what she was about to ask.

"Doctor, do you see me as a human?"

Have binge-read in 2 days till chapter 152 at the time of this review. If you are reading this then know that this novel is really good and you should just start reading it. But if you need more than just "it's really good", then here is why... At first, I thought that this is just a quick right hand exercise program. But I was wrong. And now I am so happy about it because now I have another interesting work of art to follow. So what you will get if you start reading this novel? ---->[img=coins]NO annoying cliches. While reading this I didn't have even a single "ugh" or "that's so stup!d" and no second-hand embarrassment. You won't be bang!ng your head against the wall and you don't need to turn off your brain and filter out all the inconsistencies. ---->[img=coins]If something doesn't make full sense, then that's how it's supposed to be. Then keep that in mind and see how the author unfolds the answer and the real truth to you. ---->[img=coins]Yes. It is a lemon novel but... that is not important- you will stay reading it for the real plot and story, not the mindless PLOT that is so easy to find everywhere and makes us dumber. ---->[img=coins]And talking about lemon scenes... they are ok. Not the best I have read but not the worst too. The author has some ways to make them even better and improve- but me being a real man of culture, I had no problems with it. None. ---->[img=coins]No fillers and no useless information. Everything you read is important and I never felt like Nomanalive (the author) was just writing for the word count. I don't recommend skipping any chapter or even one conversation. ---->[img=coins]The first few chapters of the story might seem slow, but it keeps taking up the pace and is fast and exciting now, and I think that the build-up at the start was perfectly paced. Should not be a problem even for someone with ADHD. ---->[img=coins]The characters don't feel like cardboard cutouts and even if there is not that much information and story development for everyone- each of them has their own role they are playing in the novel and they don't exist only because of the mc. ---->[img=coins]MC is not some shounen protag with super plot armor. He is not even a fighter at the moment and is a normal guy, except that he has become a really talented scientist because of his hard work and will from a determination he had from childhood. ---->[img=coins]The action is not boring nor seems too long. It's easy to read and imagine. I didn't want to skip any of them even if the ones fighting were cute girls and not MC. And even then- why should I skip cute girls fighting monsters? I am a man of culture. ---->[img=coins]World building... Nothing wrong with it. It's just Earth and places whose names are numbers. It's realistic fiction and not some medieval fantasy where you need to know all the power levels, and all the kingdoms or realms to get a sense of where MC is at the moment. ---->[img=coins]MC is not a beta, nor is indecisive. He is just normal and he has his reasons for everything he has done or does and they are understandable. As one who h@tes beta Japanese mc types- it's okay to read. ---->[img=coins]NO net0 rare. The author knows who is THE man in his story. BUT- There is one scene about Nine in the library where she sneaked and saw one couple doing something. If that somehow offends you then you are too soft. It's just something that helps the plot- because of that Nine will be more intimate with our MC and that is all. Don't whine about such a small detail. ---->[img=coins]The biggest minus is the updates. We need more chapters! And there are some typos and mistakes. But as a man of culture I have an inbuilt auto-correcter where I just slide past all of the typos or wrong words. Don't let some typos stop you from enjoying this novel. They are not that bad and not that annoying like some works from authors whose 1st language is not English. This is better. ---->[img=coins]The sentences and the flow of words and conversations are smooth and easy to read. Hope no one drops it and reviews it as tr@sh only because of some typos ignoring everything else that is good about this novel. Would want to watch this animated- that would be perfect. To Nomanalive- thanks for the hard work you have put into your story and I hope that you don't drop this novel and continue to improve your writing so that writing becomes like breathing for you and the right words and sentences flow in your mind like unstoppable rivers. AND please start using something like Gr@mmarly- it will take care of the typos.
