how is that legal he is using other company's IP putting the story be-hide a paywall would be illegal as it would breach copy right infringement as he would be make money off of some else's work or am i wrong??? i do not think patreon counts as they would be paying to support the fanfic writer a unique world with fair use content but i do not know the full legal mumbo jumbo????? can someone clarify

Let me explain, fanfiction is fair use as long as the work is transformative and noncommercial in nature. If Capcom can prove that this novel is fanfiction and isn't transformative and/or noncommercial, then they would have a lawsuit on their hands. If they did get into a lawsuit I would bet on Capcom winning, the author has not done enough work in changing all the copywrite(names of characters/games, references, Etc.) I would advise the author to get on top of this, but even if he does, he did not change any of the plots from Resident Evil(It's 1 to 1). Of course, I am not an expert, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. (Yes, I just copied this)

It is indeed illegal. you cannot take monetary gain to read a fanfiction, even on pat*reon. you could say that the people who support through pat*reon are doing so to support the author for his creativity, but when you get something that isn't available to those who do not pay, you are basically selling work and it is no longer a donation to support the FF author and it becomes illegal. webnovel probably has yet to fully look into this FF and see just how exactly in the red this book is so I wouldn't be surprised if this book is taken down within the week or at least put back in the free section

you forgot qidian is full of fanfictions, they don't do anything because they can't be be bothered to.

there's nothing wrong or illegal with making fanfiction, but to take monetary gain for it is indeed illegal, and to hide chapters behind a pay wall is also illegal

Do stories like this really even count as fanfiction?

Supreme Archer: Taking The Game's Weakest Class To The Top

"You're worth a single arrow." The first immersive virtual MMORPG, The Legend Enigma Online, has conquered the game market! There's not even one person who hasn't heard or seen this game's beautiful and vast magical world overflowing with monsters. Everyone wanted to play this game and be a part of history! Conjuring magic, wielding enormous swords, and even flying across the skies are possible in this game! Guns, arrows? Those are boring compared to this! Jake, however, was compelled to think differently. When the archery became abandoned and forgotten, he took this class and swore to prove others wrong, all because he likes to go against the mainstream! With the bow in his hand, Jake finds passion, talent, and excitement in archery, but will that be enough against the challenges the world keeps for him? It's not only the players that find archery weaker than magic. After the dawn of mana, which happened over two hundred years ago, even NPCs prefer magic over bows. While the other classes have been developed so much by NPCs that players have many luxuries to pick from, the archery is now a mere shadow of its past. That's only the tip of the iceberg of the future Supreme Archer's difficulties! "No matter whatever it is and how long it takes, I'll take everything on and get my archery to the top! The archery where I'm the master and artisan of my bows and arrows, the tailor of my equipment, and pioneer of my own skills!" Hard work, talent, bitter defeats, and uproarious victories–none of it is foreign to Jake! https://discord.gg/ZQ4G84ZtRY - discord server for our community!

I'm a Pastor, what the hell is an Acute Gastroenteritis Outbreak Spell?!

I found myself in a parallel universe, awakening as a male priest. Everything seemed perfect; after all, as a healer, specializing in aiding women should pose no issue, right? However, I couldn't help but wonder about some peculiar spells in my repertoire. Firstly, what in the world is the "Instantaneous Outbreak of Acute Gastroenteritis" spell? And don't even get me started on the "Osteoporosis" spell. What purpose could these serve in my healing endeavors? The confusion only deepened with spells like "Blood Burn," "Gradual Freeze," and "Mental Chaos." Can I still peacefully focus on healing women with such ominous abilities? Comparing my spells to those of other professions, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast. Mages wield "Doomstorm" and "Ice Age," swordsmen boast "Sword Rain: Homecoming" and "Wind-Cutter Slash," while archers showcase "Arrow Rain: Shooting Stars" and "Storm Arrow." Yet, my ultimate spells are disturbingly named "Cancer Cell Proliferation," "T-Virus Infection," and "Rabies Outbreak." In the midst of it all, a certain character, some crying girl, laments, "Noooo, I just took a bath, who would have thought that I would become infected!" Meanwhile, a villain chillingly asks, "Do any of you know what it feels like to burst apart while spouting blood? No! You don't know!" Even a boss character confesses, "Dear family, who can understand? I just took a nap, and when I woke up, I suddenly found that I have no kidneys!"
