Chapter 1I'm a... What?!

Ray, a tall man with dark, short brown hair and light blue eyes, begins to adjust his suit with an expressionless face, as he walks outside to get on the bus.

After 10 minutes of waiting, the bus arrives, he gets on and sits down.

Ray gets a couple of stares seeing as how he used to be mildly famous, but other than that, it's a normal boring ride.

He then gets off the bus after around 20 minutes and heads into the office, the receptionist sees him and yells out with a worried and annoyed look on her face,

"Mr. Kaine! You are late again, and the boss isn't happy!"

"I'm well aware…" Ray mutters back as he heads to his office. After several hours of boring, long work, he leaves, but not before he gets lectured by his boss again.

With an exasperated sigh, Ray gets on to the bus to return home. As he is riding along in the bus he begins to think about the past,

*****

"Ray Kaine wins again without sustaining a single injury!" An announcer shouts as Ray leaves the ring. With a 25-0 win rate, and never having been harmed during the matches, no one was his equal in terms of hand-to-hand combat.

His coach said that he was a natural prodigy and had a vast amount of potential. He was famous for his unique style of fighting, by just barely dodging hits, and quickly countering with flawless precision.

Ray was 19 years old at the time, and his future was bright, but this wouldn't last long.

After his 25th victory in a row, he went home to sleep and see the doctor in the morning due to him feeling a bit off lately, and after a while of talking, and several tests, he received his diagnosis.

He had a disease that was eating away at his muscle mass, which continued to weaken him, ending his fighting career permanently.

*****

Ray opens his eyes after he hears a couple of loud gasps and sees several people on the pass stand and point at the sky.

The sky starts to turn a mixture of purple, bright blue, and crimson red, and it begins to flash constantly.

Everyone on the bus starts to stare out the window, a buff man, wearing a tank top with short black hair moves next to Ray and says.

"What the hell is going on? I don't think I am high… So why is the sky flashing?!"

Ray stares in awe until he notices the people on the sidewalk don't seem to notice the sky, and Ray says.

"No one else seems to notice… maybe a strange glare of the bus windo-"

But, before he can finish his sentence, a large truck appears out of seemingly nowhere and crashes right into the bus, and with a loud explosion, everything goes black.

*****

Ray opens his eyes right after as if he had simply blinked. When his eyes finally focus he sees a ten-foot tall, imposing woman sitting above him on a throne made up of what appears to be emeralds.

After a couple of seconds of confusion, Ray stands up, and as he does the Woman says,

"Hm… Not a bad candidate. Congratulations mortal, you have become a god."

After a quick moment of silence and confusion, Ray stutters as he says, "I'm a… WHAT?!"

"A god, now if you will stop interrupting I can explain and get this annoying task over with. You have died, and are now a god. So, in order to better figure out your power ranking, I am going to need you to pick up that card." As she says that, a blank golden card appears in front of Ray, "Depending on your rank, you could either be a minor deity, or nigh-omnipotent. The rankings go from, F to S. Now take hold of the card"

Ray hesitates for a second, before reaching out for the card. As soon as he touches it, all of the color in the room goes black and white, except for the card which quickly changes into diamond coloring, with the letter X appearing on the card.

The woman looks over with a very surprised look, as she sees the X. Ray notices this and asks,

"An X…? What does an X mean?" As the color returns to the room, Ray disappears into an abyss. After Ray disappeared. the woman pauses, then smiles and says.

"It means that you are destined for power… And that I will finally be able to retire."

*****

After what seems like days, Ray finally wakes up on the ground in between a couple of trees, as he does, his card floats in front of him with writing on it that says,

[Would you like this to be your territory?]

[Y/N]

'What do you mean by my territory? And where the hell am I?' Ray thinks to himself, as he thinks that the card begins to change its writing, it expands and then says.

[You must mark a ten-foot by ten-foot area to be your territory before you can gain access to your divine powers]

[This is a world known as "Eanis" A world with no pantheon, which is why you have been selected to help fill that role and to maintain order in this world]

Along the top of it, there is a list of tabs, but almost all of them are grayed out, except for status. 'Wait, you know what I am thinking?! Also, status?'

[Name: Ray Kaine]

'Hm.. So you can detect what I am thinking, let me try, Territory'

[Territory is required to unlock your divinity, once you mark your territory, you can not mark it again but it will expand in the future, pick carefully.]

'If I have to mark my territory, then it is best to do it in a more strategic place than in the middle of the wilderness. How do I get you to stop hovering in front of me?'

As he thinks this, the card folds itself, and wraps around Ray's left-hand middle finger, shaping itself into a ring.

'Convenient.. Alright… So I have been isekai'd? It isn't like I had anything I cared about back in my old life but still… Dead? Just like that…? I guess dwelling on it won't change anything… so I might as well look around.'

Ray begins to search around after a couple of hours of climbing and walking, he looks down from atop a very steep cliff, and he sees a large city in the distance, which appears to be very medieval/fantasy.

'Wow… It's massive! Are those castles?! It's beautiful, and I think I found the perfect place for my territory. This cliff will make an amazing place to start, not too close just in case there are massive changes when I claim it, and not too far away so I am still close to people. Card! I'd like this to be my territory.'

As he proclaims this to his card, a bright blue light expands rapidly from his chest, spreading out and covering a ten-foot by ten-foot area then dissipates, the card then pulls up in front of his eyes with the status window open,

'?!?!?!'

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

-12 chapters in- Another novel with a main character who should be OP right off the bat but is stifled by various rules and regulations. The mc has 1 unique aspect and thats his “infinite domain”, which sounds cool but just means he can continuously expand his territory, like every other god in every other novel like this. Except, for them, it’s just assumed they can expand there territory and they have another unique trait, here it’s his only unique trait. There is essentially no world building. We know of a forest, city, and a town ridden by plague. We know nothing about the worlds size, structure, or history. what is mentioned is not described at all. The mc is supposed to be the first god on this planet but for an unexplained reason, he’s late 3000+ years and Is significantly far behind the rest of the gods. Theres no character development. The mc has no goals or aspirations. He probably has some but the author doesn’t tell us a lot of things, like the other 60+ gods are all familiar to the mc and how, maybe, many people from earth were transmigrated. The first girl he meets is one dimensional and takes an interest into the mc for no reason. The family that worships mc aren’t described and they have no personality. The pacing of this novel is odd. The mc is setting up his personal followers, going to school with, I assume, only the goal to get stronger, and he’s learning about his place in the world. These three major plot points will be discussed multiple times within one chapter with very little actually being achieved.
