#MARVEL
Essence of Power: Remastered
Asir Ashaun Edmonds thought he was creating a fictional character.
After selecting three powerful Essences on a mysterious website, he is transported into Marvel Online, an impossibly realistic virtual world whose inhabitants are living, breathing people. Reborn in 1829, Asir loses every memory of his former life and grows up believing the world around him is the only reality that has ever existed.
Hidden within the forests of Harlem, his family belongs to Free Harlem—a secret settlement founded by escaped slaves, free Black families, and abolitionists. There, Asir experiences an ordinary childhood despite the impossible abilities slowly awakening within him.
Every skill he learns races toward perfection.
His body heals from injuries that should cripple him.
He can sense the hidden potential within others.
And somewhere beyond his reach, an army waits for his command.
Asir learns to conceal these gifts as naturally as a child learns to walk, trusting only his younger sister, Naomi—the one person who recognizes that something about her brother is different and chooses to protect him anyway.
Then slave catchers discover Free Harlem.
When Asir returns home to find both of his parents lynched and Naomi his only surviving family member, his grief transforms into purpose. Two years later, the Civil War gives him an enemy large enough to contain his anger.
Unable to enlist openly at first, Asir enters the conflict as a laborer, guide, scout, and unofficial soldier. Along the way, he forms an unbreakable brotherhood with Josiah Reed, a former slave and gifted blacksmith capable of building the foundations of an empire, and Lucien Baptiste, a charming Creole spy who hides his pain behind laughter.
Together, they will free captives, build armies, master powers beyond human understanding, and change a history that was never meant to remember their names.
But slavery is only one layer of the world’s darkness.
Behind governments, monarchies, wars, and revolutions stands an ancient international society of elite sorcerers who have secretly guided mortal civilization for centuries.
And far in the future, people from another universe are preparing to enter Asir’s reality believing it is only a game.
They expect NPCs.
They will find a Warlord waiting for them.
