Sunset In Paradise

Justen's POV

"Get up, asshole," my dad said, waking me up from my only quiet time in this hell house.

I groaned and slowly got out of my stained and broken bed. Once I was up, I went over to my broken closet and looked through the small number of clothes I had. Finding a stained white sweatshirt, a plain green shirt, and a ripped pair of jeans, I went to the bathroom and got dressed.

I looked into the shattered mirror that was in the bathroom to see a sad seventeen-year-old standing there. He had greasy, dark brown hair and his curls were matted down. His dark green eyes had dark circles under them showing me that he didn't get much sleep. There were bruises on his face and cuts all over his neck and chest. I felt bad for him but nothing can change the fact that the teenage boy in the mirror was me.

I gave the mirror a good punch only shattering it more before I got dressed with tears in my eyes. When I was done, I reluctantly got out of the bathroom and grabbed my tattered backpack before I headed to the messy kitchen.

"There's nothing to eat because some stupid cunt didn't go shopping," my dad said from the table as he took a puff of his weed.

"I'll go shopping after school," I said, wondering how we always ran out of food but he never runs out of weed.

"Good, now get your ass to school before you're late," my dad said.

I rolled my eyes and walked out of the house and over to my bike. Wiping the seat off, I sat on it and made my way to school. While I was on my way, a black Ford F150 passed me honking their horn. I casually flipped them off as they passed me.

"What a dick," I thought as I pedaled into the school parking lot.

I ride to my usual spot by the fence and hopped off my bike. I grabbed my bike lock out of my backpack and locked my bike to the fence like usual.

Walking into the school, I found my way to the corner where I usually sat before school started.

The popular girls entered the building and pointed their noses up as they walked passed me. That's okay, all the girls at my school are whores anyway.

Next, the popular guys walked in while tackling another popular boy. The one being tackled laughed along with the others. For some reason though, I felt that he wasn't happy with what the others were doing to him. They walked passed me and the one who was tackled looked at me before he caught up with his friends.

Suddenly, the bell rang for first hour. I jumped up and ran to my first hour.

After school, I went to the store and bought food for me and my dad. After that, I went home to find my dad passed out on the couch. I put the groceries away before getting on my bike again and riding to my special spot.

Just as I got there, I saw the silhouette of another teenager sitting on the rock to the right of the oak tree.
