Part 52

Josh's POV

When the clock hit eleven-fifteen, I decided that it was time to take Justen back home.

"Hey, are you ready to go home?" I asked, tapping his head.

"No," Justen said. "I don't want to leave."

"But you thought you told your dad you'd be back at eleven-thirty," I said.

"Yeah, but I don't want to leave you," Justen said.

"We can't stay here any longer though," I said.

"You're right," Justen said. "I guess I'm ready to go home."

"Alright, let's go then," I said as Justen yawned.

"Alright," he said, following me as I stood up.

Justen and I made it to my truck and both got inside. As soon as we were both in and buckled, I started the truck up.

"Can you turn the heat on?" Justen asked as I pulled onto the road.

"Are you cold?" I asked, looking over at Justen who was wrapping his arms around himself.

"Yeah," Justen nodded. "Now get your eyes on the road Mr. I-can-drive-better-than-you."

"Okay," I said, turning the heat on before turning my attention back to the road.

I was turning on to Justen's road, I looked over at him to see that Justen was sleeping. I smiled and kept driving. Once I pulled into Justen's driveway, I put my truck in park and turned to Justen again, and lightly shook him.

He immediately jumped up and looked at me with fear in his eyes.

"Are you okay?!" I asked, scared for him.

"Yeah, it was just a dream," Justen said, leaning back in the seat again.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked.

"Yeah," Justen said.

"Alright," I said, not wanting to believe Justen. "Well, we're at your house. So…"

"Oh, okay," Justen said. "I'll see you on Monday."

He leaned over the center console and kissed me on the cheek. I shook my head and kissed his lips.

"I love you," I smiled.

"I love you too," Justen smiled.

Justen then got out of the truck, closed the door, and walked up to his front door. Justen turned to face me once again and waved at me before walking into his house.

Once I made sure he was inside, I backed out of Justen's driveway and reluctantly drove back to my house. As I was on my way home, I couldn't get Justen off my mind. I couldn't help thinking that there was something he wasn't telling me. Yet, I brushed it off as I pulled into my driveway and put my truck into park.

I walked into my house and was immediately tackled by Michael.

"You're home!" he said, wrapping his arms around me.

"Yeah," I said. "Why aren't you in bed?"

"Because me and mom stayed up to watch a movie," Michael said.

"What movie?" I asked.

"How To Train Your Dragon," Michael said.

"You guys watched my favorite movie without me?" I asked, pretending to be hurt.

"We can watch it again if you'd like," Michael said.

"Not tonight, Michael," I heard my mom say as she walked towards us.

"But why?" Michael whined.

"Because it's time for you to go to bed," my mom said. "Now, say good night to your brother."

"Can Josh actually put me to bed, please?" Michael said.

"Yes," my mom sighed.

"Thank you!" Michael said happily before he walked down the hallway and to his room.

"You should head to bed too," I said, looking at my tired mom.

"I will soon," my mom said.

"Alright," I said. "I'm going to put Michael to bed and then I'm going to bed myself, okay?"

"Okay," my mom said. "And I promise I won't stay up too late."

"Cool," I said before hugging my mom and heading to Michael's room.
