Part 14

Josh's POV

About ten minutes of calming silence later, I heard light snores. I looked over to Justen and saw that he had fallen asleep. I looked at his dark, curly brown hair that had leaves in it from laying on the ground for so long. Next, I admired his freckles that were lightly sprinkled across his face, they were darker than the ones that were scattered across my face, but Justen's looked a lot better than mine. I looked at his smile and couldn't help but smile along with him. Wondering what he was dreaming about, I looked at my watch to see that it was eleven-thirty. Holy crap!

I lightly shook Justen awake. "Hey, we have to go," I said.

Justen's brown eyes fluttered open. "Do we have to?" he asked.

"I'm sorry but yeah," I said.

"Can't we just stay here for the night?" Justen asked.

I thought about it for a minute before getting up.

"Where are you going?" Justen asked.

"To get blankets," I said, walking over to my truck.

I opened the truck door and grabbed my phone. I quickly texted my parents telling them I was over at a friend's house before I texted Nathan, who I knew had my back to lie to my parents. Then I grabbed the blankets out of the covered bed of my truck. With the blankets in hand, I made my way back to Justen who had fallen back asleep.

I smiled and covered him with a blanket. Justen took the blanket and rolled over to face me. As it turned out, he wasn't sleeping.

"I thought you went back to sleep," I said.

"I wanted to wait until you got back," Justen said.

I smiled at his thoughtfulness.

"Thanks for the blanket by the way," Justen said. "Do you always keep them in your truck?"

"Only when I know I'm going to be with a cute guy who gets tired easily," I said.

"So I'm cute?" Justen asked, a smirk forming on his lips.

A blush took over my face. "Yeah," I said.

"Well thanks," Justen said.

I smiled and Justen smiled back.

"Alright, let's get some sleep," I said.

"Aye, aye," Justen said, tucking the blanket under his chin.

It became quiet and in that quiet, I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up to find Justen in my arms. He looked like he was still sleeping so I just held him in my arms. Finally, I felt Justen's head move against my chest.

"Good morning," I said.

Justen looked at me with sleepy eyes.

"Still tired?" I asked.

Justen only nodded before he cuddled back into my chest.

"You must not be a morning person," I pointed out.

"Only crazy people are morning people," Justen mumbled.

"Then consider me crazy," I said.

"What time is it anyway?" Justen asked.

I looked at my watch and read off the time. "Ten-fifteen."

"Ugh, only ten-fifteen?" Justen asked. "That's too early."

"Seriously?" I asked.

"What time do you normally wake up at on the weekends?" Justen asked.

"Eight-thirty," I replied.

"You really are crazy," Justen said.

"But if you sleep in, you waste most of your day sleeping," I said.

"I don't care. I don't do anything anyway," Justen said

"We should get up though," I said.

"Why?' Justen whined.

"Isn't your dad going to wonder where you are?" I asked.

"Maybe, but I don't care," Justen said.

"You sure?" I asked.

"I know my dad's gonna be mad at me but I just wanna stay here with you," Justen said.

"I guess we can stay here a little longer," I said, bringing him closer to my chest.
