I think it's just intelligence, skill, cunningness, and luck. He is known as the strongest in the heian era after all, if he was merely all brawn and no brain he wouldn't even survive even in his early stages. He used Megumi's body for mahoraga who can adapt to anything with just 3 spins if I remember. He most likely used mahoraga as a subject to see how to bypass infinity. And he never turned back to his true form when dealing with Gojo since Mahoraga would have dissipated, Sukuna used Megumi's soul to endure Gojo's infinity. Sukuna could have obliterated Megumi's soul the moment he took over the body but didn't, either he didn't do so as the ability to control the ten shadows would falter and disappear or he used that soul to counter Gojo's infinity. Remember Sukuna was inside Yuji when Gojo explained his domain. And in both sides, Combat experience is something that Sukuna has in the bag.
