The prefixes "para-" and "super-" both mean "beyond," but they differ in their secondary meanings. "Para-" means beside, while "super-" means above. "Nature" refers to the natural world, so supernatural phenomena are literally beyond nature or the natural. Distinctions: Para = Beside or beyond normality, unexplainable but still possible within nature. Super = Beyond or above, something inherently non-natural or beyond it. Examples: Supernatural = Beyond the natural world and scientific laws; e.g., gods, magic, angels, etc. Paranormal = Unexplained phenomena that can theoretically have explanations; e.g., UFOs, psychic abilities, aliens, time travel, etc. A lot of times, these terms can be interchangeable; however, there are nuances, and in this particular case, I believe "supernatural" would be the better term to use because we are dealing with things beyond the natural order, such as magic and gods.
