2 02 - Spider 42

"What?!" Luke was shocked to see the notification on his cell phone.

He knew very well who Spider-Man was, he even knew that this hero was called Peter Parker under the mask. But he had no idea how he was seeing Peter Parker in front of him, as far as Luke knew, Peter Parker was just a character from a Marvel comic book franchise.

'If Spider-Man was grateful that I saved a client from fate, then does that mean that client is his Uncle Ben?' Luke was even more shocked.

Every Spider-Man fan knows that Uncle Ben is a legendary figure. "With big powers come big responsabilities." it's his uncle's iconic quote that shaped Peter's personality to be the hero everyone respected.

But Luke looked at Peter Parker again and realized he was in Toby Maguire's Spider-Man world, not Tom Holland's MCU.

Another notification popped up on Luke's cell phone, leaving him very confused.

'How the hell am I getting out of here?!' he wondered as he looked around.

Until he saw his e-bike in the corner and climbed on it before starting to pedal to pick up speed and rev with the engine.

As much as he wanted to talk to Peter Parker and Uncle Ben, Luke didn't want to find out what the consequence was of not getting out of there as soon as possible.

As soon as he left the block, the people around Luke changed, the cars disappeared, and he found himself alone in a desert world.

A few seconds of pedaling in this desert world passed and cars began to appear around him like ghosts, transparent people appeared on the sidewalk little by little until they took a solid shape and the noise around Luke returned as if nothing had happened.

"What the hell is happening?!" Luke looked around fearfully as he saw all these changes. But he didn't despair, as he figured it could be related to his mobile app.

In even more of a hurry, Luke pedaled at high speed to get home as quickly as possible.

Arriving home, Luke began to believe that he had some kind of hallucination, even though he sometimes takes anti-depressant medication, yet he has never experienced anything as drastic as this.

But as soon as he opened his cell phone at home, he saw that the delivery app notifications were still there, as was his current delivery reward.

Instead of saying something like [$2.00] he received for delivery, it actually said [Destiny Reward].

Curious, Luke clicked on this reward and a spider popped out of his cell phone screen.

"What the Fuck?!" Luke dropped his cell phone, startled, but the spider bit his finger faster than he could react.

"Shit! What the fuck was that?!" Luke was still in shock from everything that was happening. This was the kind of thing that only happened in webnovels and internet fanfics, but nothing he believed could happen to him.

The place the spider bitten started oozing weird pus and swelled up a lot, making Luke's finger feel like a ball within seconds.

As he rubbed the place the spider had bitten him, Luke started to remember what the notification said. "That spider, if I'm not mistaken was N. 42, who was bitten by spider N. 42?" He asked himself confused as he sat in front of his old computer trying to ignore the pain his finger was feeling.

[The spider that bit Miles having the number 42 on its back, in addition to Miles' lottery number being 42, is a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.]

"Is the spider 42 Miles Morales'?" Luke was surprised and decided to research more about Miles' powers, and what he discovered on an internet wiki shocked him.

"Basically the same qualities as Peter Parker, but he can turn invisible, control the electricity produced by the body and lastly, super regeneration…" Luke read the article aloud.

The example the article gave was that Miles' spider bite changed from being big and gross to something cute in less than 10 minutes.

Looking at his hand, Luke saw that after 5 minutes of being bitten, his finger's appearance was already improving a lot, which made him finally accept that he had been bitten by a radioactive spider.

"That… so from now on I'll have Spider-Man's powers…?" Luke wondered excitedly as he ran to the mirror to look for any abnormalities.

His body was basically the body of an average person, neither fat nor skinny, just with a belly a little bulging with fat accumulated from lack of exercise. Blond hair and slightly tanned skin from delivering food in the hot sun during the day.

But with the naked eye Luke could see his body changing, his body fat was visibly being consumed to nourish the muscles that were springing up in place.

In a few seconds Luke began to feel a slight itch, which grew exponentially stronger, until Luke passed out on his feet and luckily fell onto the bed behind him, as the room was quite small.

As he slept, his body began to undergo shocking changes.

But the change that would shock Luke even more was the notification that popped up on his cell phone screen.

Unfortunately Luke did not see this notification, but in the future he will discover this for himself, which is why his name becomes known to all the worlds, and that today was just the beginning of a mighty Legend.
