1 01 - First Customer

"So because of that you retired from the army?" Luke asked a kind old man who was eating an ice cream he made.

"Yes, after all, after your brother dies leaving only one child alone, it's my responsibility to dedicate my time to that child so he doesn't feel so bad about the parents' death." The old man replied with a happy smile.

The two were in front of a library in downtown New York.

The old man said he was waiting for his nephew whom he had brought to study.

Luke is an app food delivery guy who got a different calling.

----- Flashback -----

In the app notification it said:

\[A customer of Destiny needs something sweet and tasty to eat, be quick.\]

This was the first time Luke received a notification like this, normally the app just gave the location of the store where the customer's order was and the customer's location for it to deliver. But this time he didn't even say where the store was, or if there was a store.

Luke was home resting now. He lived in a small, poor apartment in New York, and took advantage of the time outside of school to work with food delivery to earn enough money to support himself, as he didn't have any kind of relatives to help him.

Looking at his cell phone screen, Luke saw that the food delivery app said he was off-hours, so in theory he shouldn't take orders from customers.

Initially he thought about just ignoring it and going back to eating an Oreo popsicle that he copied the recipe from the internet, but after some thought Luke decided to get another popsicle and take it to this mysterious customer, which was possibly just a bug in the app system. Of delivery.

In the worst case he would just eat the extra popsicle while walking around town.

With the electric bike he used to make deliveries, when he arrived at the spot marked on the map there was only a single old man propped up in the car watching his surroundings.

'Must be the customer...' Luke deduced as he got off the electric bike and carried a bag with the popsicle he had made for the old man.

But since Luke didn't wear any uniforms, he just looked like a normal teenager.

"Here it is Sir." Luke handed the bag to the man, who looked at him in surprise.

"Is this a mistake? I didn't ask for anything." The man replied with a smile, which confused Luke.

"Didn't ask for anything?"

The two talked about what happened until Luke deduced that this was just an app bug. But seeing how polite and kind the old man was being to him, Luke still offered the popsicle he made to the man, saying it was a homemade recipe, until the old man accepted.

---- Flashback End ----

"It must be nice to have a worried family like that, your nephew is really lucky." Luke replied with a forced smile.

The old man noticed that the boy had been sad to hear this and felt guilty.

But before the old man could say anything to comfort the boy, a scream was heard in the distance.

"Stop this man, he stole my money!" A fat man in a beige jacket yelled as he pointed at a muscular man holding a pistol.

Luke didn't want to get involved with this, as the man was dangerous with a weapon like that, but before he could walk away with the old man, the man saw the two of them beside a car and ran towards them.

Luke was scared, prepared to only hand over the bike if the man asked.

But the old man next to Luke stepped in front of him and took one last bite of his homemade popsicle.

"This popsicle is delicious, maybe I should ask my nephew to try it someday." He said in a low voice before yelling. "Stop! Give that man back his money!"

Luke was happy with what the old man had said initially, but was shocked by the next words.

'What is it? Why does this old man want to fight a man with a gun?!' Luke thought, startled.

The man was also angry with this old man and pointed the gun at the man.

Time seemed to freeze, Luke found himself lost between helping the old man and probably dying with him, or running away and leaving the old man to die alone.

Luke knew that he was not a good person, as because of the difficulties he went through in life he had to learn to be selfish and not get involved in other people's problems.

But this old man had been so kind to him that Luke felt unable to just run away.

Then in a moment of madness, Luke pushed the old man aside before the thief fired.

*Bang! *

The thief shot in the direction where the old man was, but because of Luke's shove, he was now almost falling to the side.

The shot made a police car that was passing by the place turn on its sirens and run there.

The thief was startled to see the police lights approaching and turned the other way to flee before the police arrived.

Luke looked at the old man lying on the floor and helped the man to his feet.

"That was a brave thing to do, kid." The old man said with a smile, even though he hurt his arm when he fell.

"That was a crazy thing to do, old man." Luke said as he helped the man up.

"I had to do this, it's mine..." But before the old man could finish what he was going to say, a boy two years younger than Luke came running up with a red shirt and a spider drawn on it.

"Uncle Ben!!" The boy screamed in fright as he ran after hearing the shot.

This boy's speed greatly surprised Luke, who knew he was faster than even the top speed of his electric bike.

But at that moment a notification popped up on Luke's cell phone.

\[The Spider-Man was very grateful for your help in saving a Client of Fate. Reward: Radioactive Spider N. 42.\]

"What?!" Luke was shocked to see the notification on his cell phone.
