Light Shield

Despite lacking a significant connection with Artel, she found herself feeling discontent in that moment, expressing her disinterest with a noticeable pout.

Growing weary of the Quidditch spectacle, she decided it was time to depart. With a gentle tug at Artel's sleeve, she proposed an alternative.

"Artel, this place is too lofty for my liking. Let's forsake the view and take a stroll around the Black Lake."

A grassy expanse on the lake's edge offered a refreshing atmosphere with a panoramic view. It was a favored spot for wizards seeking conversation or leisurely walks.

"Alright."

Artel, indifferent to Quidditch, was merely seeking relaxation. "Let's make our exit. Farewell for now," he bid the sisters goodbye.

Hermione, apologetic but relieved, smiled at them before leading Artel away from the audience.

....

As they left the stands, Hermione's magics lifted considerably.

Heading toward the Black Lake, a gentle breeze wafted from the water, tousling Hermione's hair and carrying a crisp scent.

Artel savored the tranquility of the moment.

Sunshine, the lake, the grass, Hermione, and the wind.

The serene atmosphere was interrupted when Hermione, seemingly lost in thought, touched the leaf earrings dangling from her ears. Looking at Artel, she suddenly inquired:

"Artel, do you have any new magic to teach me?"

"New magic? Well, there's one..."

Artel pondered for a moment before recalling a suitable spell.

"Not in the books?"

"Absolutely. What's in the books can be interesting too."

"Is it from that wizardry notebook named Saruman?"

Recalling the thorn entanglement Artel had taught her earlier—a magic distinct from mainstream wizardry—Hermione wondered about its origin.

"Yes, it's a defensive magic called the Light Shield Curse. It can fend off most dark magic and malevolent spells. With enough power, it can even withstand the Unforgivable Curse."

Artel explained as they reached the Black Lake's edge, settling on a nearly pristine grassy slope. Facing the water, Artel brandished his wand and swirled it beside him.

"Lighteborus Probocus!"

The Light Shield Spell, a potent defensive magic from the Holy Light system, had been adapted to suit this world, rendering it impervious to all malevolence.

As Artel gracefully moved his wand through the air, a soft, white shimmer enveloped his form. It wasn't a dazzling display but exuded a serene and holy aura.

"Try casting a simple spell on me," Artel suggested to Hermione.

After a moment of consideration, Hermione withdrew her wand and tapped Artel.

A beam of light shot from Hermione's wand, but the moment it touched the white radiance surrounding Artel, it flickered out like a candle. Hermione let out a scream, her expression turning peculiar. Yet, as emerald-green light flashed on her ears, her face swiftly returned to a healthy rosy hue.

"The Light Shield can absorb the incoming magic spell and siphon off some of the caster's magic power. In simple terms, casting an attacking spell on the Light Shield consumes additional magic power," Artel explained with a wave of his wand, dispelling the white light.

"If your magic power is just enough for one spell, hitting the light shield spell will make you lose consciousness immediately due to the drained mental power."

"What a potent protective spell," Hermione murmured, her eyes gleaming with admiration. "It seems challenging. Have you mastered it already? No wonder Professor Flitwick considers you the most talented wizard he's ever seen."

"You should be able to learn it quickly, but it has its limits. While it might not withstand very powerful spells, it does offer extra protection against dark magic," Artel elaborated, demonstrating the required wand movements in the air.

"When chanting, you must synchronize it with gestures and align your magicual power..."

Hermione, a scholar at heart, absorbed every detail. For the next hour, Artel sat by the Black Lake, observing Hermione practicing the spell repeatedly.

Thanks to the moonlight oak leaf earrings, Hermione's mental energy remained abundant and quickly replenished. Unlike intricate healing spells like Aria of Light, protective spells were more straightforward. In just over an hour, Hermione had mastered the technique, successfully casting the spell multiple times.

Although the white light around her wasn't easily visible in daylight, it exhibited substantial strength. Artel attempted to cast a petrification spell, but it was deftly blocked by Hermione's newly acquired skill, triggering its absorbing effect, which consumed a portion of Artel's mental power.

Pleased with her progress, Hermione continued to practice with unwavering enthusiasm.
