Chapter 1Satan's call

In an abundant ruin, took birth to a green spark! Before anyone could even take notice of it, it grew larger and larger until it wrapped the whole place around it shining its vibrant light on the nearby forests.

*Pop*

Like a bubble it popped, shimmering sparkles flowing down as they disappeared into thin air.

*Woot* *Woot*

Klautz opened his eyes. In the darkness of the night, one might not be able to see much but such rules never applied to him. He ducked his head to take a glance at his body.

His body had gone cold and yet he was sweating profoundly. As he wiped his sweat, he took a deep breath.

*Woot* *Woot*

The nocturnal birds of the forests chirped.

Klautz's eyebrows twitched as he felt something strange.

'My hands… they feel so empty.'

Klautz clenched his fingers and loosened them back again. It was as if he had lost his heightened sense of touch!

He remembered dying after wiping out the ninjas of the Kishiogakure village.

He vividly remembered the last breaths he took as he jumped into a river. Well not that there was any hope for him to live anyway.

But even in the end, he had chosen a painful death. The river took his body obliterating it as it struck it against the sharp rocks, not leaving even so as a trace of his presence.

"Why?" He whispered. He had no idea why he was alive.

He had gone against his whole clan, wiping out its existence from the face of the planet. But that had taken its sacrifice, he had to sacrifice his life that is. He was the greatest ninja of his clan always was and always will be. But that doesn't mean he can come out unscathed facing an army of ninjas.

In the battle, he had come out victorious however his vitality was fleeting with time. To erase his presence he had chosen the worst death of all! He was not in a condition to survive it by any means.

'Am I… alive?' He doubted his existence and the laws of the world.

Even the best medical ninjas of his village wouldn't have been able to heal him. Not to mention he had killed them all. How he was alive was a complete mystery.

It was confirmed that he was going to die.

But he didn't.

The body that was supposed to be obliterated in a thousand pieces was back in one. The hands that were supposed to have gone missing from the spoils of battle had regrown!

However, his senses of smell, hearing, touch, taste, and sight were sluggish. It felt like the meticulous training that he had gone through days and nights to heighten his senses had gone reset. All the sweat and blood he had shed was reverted somehow. He felt incredibly weak.

These weren't the only weird points.

He turned his head.

There were almost 50 people around him.

"Where am I?"

"Damn what happened to the match!"

"Oh my God! I am finally reincarnated. Thank you Truck-kun!"

Screams and cries could be heard everywhere. Many had panicked at the unexpectedness of the situation. And why would they not be?

They were at an unknown ruin they had never been to, in the darkness and coldness of the night. With people whose faces they had never seen in their life!

Klautz knitted his brows.

'Is this for real or some kind of hallucination?'

Klautz remembered such an event before. It was a faded memory that was kept in the back of his mind for decades!

He brought his palms closer to his face and formed them into a fist after checking them out. Then he ran his fingers on his body where he certainly had deep scars before dying.

These were the scars he had accumulated from years of battle and training. However, to his surprise, none of them was there. His body was as smooth as it could be defying his common sense. But…

All of this could be explained if he believed that his consciousness has indeed travelled back in time.

Klautz frowned. He had killed himself to escape the world of hell, and now he was being hurled back into it!

The world of hell wasn't something you would like to live in. Yet he had endured for decades! But after killing his entire village he saw no point in being alive anymore.

'I am back.'

Klautz had gone through hell in this world. So much so that his moral compass and common sense had been completely shifted.

He had experienced so many things that he believed that even those events that people pass off as fantasies could occur in hellfeim.

But even so, none of those mystical events was as absurd as this one.

'I am really back?'

Indeed it was beyond the realm of believable even for Klautz.

Time-travelling.

'But if this truly is the past, then I might know where this is.'

'The Beginner safepoint!' It had the appearance of piles of rumbles and walls with no roofs attached... it was nothing but ruins.

*Gulp*

Was he really given a second chance? What for? To kill the ninjas? Or to kill the demons? Klautz had no idea.

It was the place where people who were summoned arrived first. He has to survive here for a week to reach the next stage.

It was then...

[Choose your weapon]

Klautz nodded. Hellfeim had never failed to surprise him.

"Nani?"

"Choose your weapon?" someone whispered. He had question marks on his face.

"Hey, hey finally some action in another world!"

"Do they take me for some hooligan or kid to play with toys?"

While everyone was confused, only Klautz moved out. What was going to follow he knew all too well. And he needed to be as vigilant as possible. If he was truly taken back in time then he cannot afford to make any mistakes like earlier.

In his previous life, he had experienced hell being hopeless against the circumstances that came his way. He was ignorant and immature at that time. But now? He had gone through that hell for fifty years. He ain't gonna let anyone stop him this time.

There were fifty weapons leaning against a giant wall. But Klautz's pupils reflected only a shining blade.

Then a message appeared in front of him.

Name: Ninjato of Styx

Rank: E

Effect: Agility +1

It had a straight blade with a square guard. I was roughly 60 cm in length and was a basic weapon in all respects.

It was his trusted ninjato. A weapon that he had used in his ninjutsu for years alongside kunais and ninja stars.

Another message soon popped up following the previous one. But this one was exclusive to Klautz.

[Satan loves the quick-witted. The ones who manage to be ahead of the flock. For it is only they who can bring upon agony to the masses.

Trivia: The first one to choose a weapon would be rewarded with a chain armour]

Reviewed at chp93: WQ(3/5) - There are some mistakes(typos, extra words, wrong sentence structures) but it's few and far in between. Nothing amazing but it's readable enough. SD(2/5) - I'm not a huge fan of the pacing of the story. It feels very "jerky". Like a car shifting gears too quick. The plot progression so far has been lacklustre in my opinion. The premise is interesting enough but can't raise the score above a solid 3. Now for the "plot" for those who care, pretty alright. It's decent but not ground-breaking. So far we have a few chps of Selena and MC. It mostly depends on your preference, pretty rough but still quite vanilla. CD(3/5) - I'm torn on this. The MC is interesting enough though frustrating at times. The issue is that the way the author introduces us to him as a character, there are far too many perspective shifts, it's told through flashbacks and having too many in any medium is never a good idea. It's fine to be used sparingly to show past events but thats the issue, here it's used as a tool to convey the MC's char to readers, even worse is it's in parts. It might contribute to that "jerky" feeling I get when reading. Now I commend the author for actually building side characters. For example, Selena and Verona are given a fair bit of screentime and inner monologues to give us an idea of their thoughts and character. This can be a double-edged sword however, as focus might be shifted off the MC. But I'm glad to say the author divided the focus quite well. Now why I'm torn on this is the fact I like the side char building but absolutely abhor the MC's char building itself. It feels inorganic and doesn't flow well compared to how the side chars are shown. US(4/5) - The author seems pretty consistent in his updates and actually responds to his audience. WB(4/5) - The world itself is slowly being built and honestly it would be a solid 3, I gave it a 4 just because it's piqued my interest and is genuinely interesting. The world the author is writing seems mysterious and intriguing, u can't help but think there are far deeper secrets due to the hints here and there. In conclusion, a decent but rough read. The idea is solid but the execution isn't. The pacing and plot of the story needs quite a fair bit of work, especially with the MC's char building. It just feels completely inorganic to show the character like this. But here's the great kicker, premium chps are locked at chp30. That is going to greatly hurt the exposure this novel is going to get. For the word count of chps, it's just not worth it. I might return to this novel in the future but so far it doesn't look too promising. All the best author and I hope this review helps.
