The MC pulls a lot of information out of nowhere and takes it for granted, like declaring Dumbledore a villain for reading the books, along with theories and explanations of how magic works that he took from the beyond and again took it for granted. I see no problem with writing an AU fic or having a manipulative Dumbledore, but the MC declaring this kind of thing out of the blue is a problem. Events are often summarized in a paragraph and then sometimes we have information coming out of the blue about something extremely important that happened that was not even mentioned in that summary. The fic spends more time with the MC making theories or thinking about fanon as if it were canon than actually acting. Other details like a police officer finding the MC extremely bruised, bloodstained and without memories taking him walking to the police station instead of to the hospital or calling an ambulance, the MC going to school a week after being sent to an orphanage with aminesia and even with injuries all over the body show that the author does not make much effort to build a reasonable story.

I agree fully with this review, I have tried to read this story but it is an endless stream of asspulls. Also the system sucks.

While Dumbledore is not a villain. The whole him being Manpluting is pretty much accepted as canon by the majority of people who read the books, and Rowling leaves far too many hints in the books. He is not evil and a lot of fanfic takes it a bit too far but if you were to find yourself in this world one should definitely be cautious about this man.

It's less him being manipulative or using people and more him being the strategist/general in the war against Voldemort.

No, he was manipulative it is literally the main theme Rowling used to show that he was not flawless. Dumbledore was no strategist or general and if he was, he was a terrible one, Considering they beat Voldemort just by luck destroys that notion. But either way, it doesn't change my original point of Greater Good Dumbledore being canon because that is basically Dumbledore in the Books. Honestly, a lot of the issues people point out when it comes to Dumbledore are really just plot holes.

There were many such comments that were made by different characters that are taken way too seriously and with too much importance. Aberforth severely hated his brother after the 3 way duel and blamed him for his sister's death. Sirius also declared Hermoine as the "Smartest witch of her age" and fandom takes it as a fact. Similar off hand comments are also there like James being a transfiguration prodigy because Minerva said he was talented. In fact, I only recognize very few geniuses, Dumbledore, Grindlewald, Voldemort and Snape. Rest were talented but not geniuses. It was a recurring theme that everybody was biased in HP. Sirius was biased against Blacks and for Potter. Aberforth against Albus and Hagrid for Him. Potter and Weasleys against slytherin while Malfoy and his gang against everybody.

Being biased doesn't necessarily mean being wrong. Besides, there are multiple sources within the books that support these claims, but from what I get from your post is that the fandom like to exaggerate things which I agree with you

well its his fanfic whats wrong with that, he can make dumbledore a darklord if he wants to so stop the unnecessary ranting and just read other fics if you dont like it

People arguing if dumbledore is good/evil, thats not the point. The point is MC should've judge it based on his action and after meeting him since he's an AU timeline, while maintaining causious attutide toward likely fanon therories. The problem is MC decleared dumbledore evil unilaterally without even meeting him or verifying this theory and plan his action based on his extreme prejudice which feels stupid tbh. And, since we know he's the mc his asspull theories have to come true or he'll look even more stupid so we have a self-fullfilling plot that becomes very boring and predictable.

You are three months late, it's been a while since I abandoned this one and went to read other fics. Because it's been a few months so I don't remember if I made that clear in my review, but I remember explaining it in comments and there's a recent comment by Limitless that pretty much explains it all. The problem is not that Dumbledore is good or bad, the problem is that the MC unilaterally and with extreme prejudice declares that Dumbledore is evil before ever meeting or hearing about him. I highly recommend you read Limitless's comment because it's just perfect.

Does the story go on like this or does it ever improve the way it is told?

classic case of a filler skipper, skips stuff they don't like and then complain they have no idea whats going on, Dumbledore is manipulative, he takes the MCs blood to get it tested at gringotts without his consent, he was brought to the medical wing of the police station while they search records for his parents, and all the times you were lost when MC is theory crafting or thinking on things you have no clue about, you likely kept skipping paragraphs or certain sentences to create these fictional gaps in the story

If you read the other comments you will understand that the problem was never whether Dumbledore is good or evil but rather the MC declaring that he is evil before meeting him. I didn't even get to the point where the MC met Dumbledore, he starts theorizing in the first chapters before even getting involved with the magical world. Obviously Dumbledore would prove manipulative in the fic after the MC spent so much time declaring that he would be evil.

but I didn't read the comments, I read the actual story, MC knows Dumbledore is manipulative BECAUSE HE IS IN THE ACTUAL HARRY POTTER BOOKS, seriously do you all have a collective of 5 brain cells or is your hill you want to die on giving you CEO level benefits

I mean...it's not AU to say that Dumbledore is manipulative. To the point of being harmful, in fact. That's just plain using at least one brain cell while reading the books. It's pretty incredibly obvious from the very beginning of the Harry Potter series. That is the entire reason why the fandom tends towards seeing him as manipulative and possibly downright evil regardless of his intentions.
