Arriving at the lecture hall, he doesn't see Jake so he sits down at the back of the lecture hall.

15 minutes pass by and Jake still hasn't entered despite being over 10 minutes into the lecture.

...

Soon it is the end of the lecture and he hasn't seen Jake, left with nothing to do, Ronan walks back towards his dorm, somewhat panicking, using all that time to finish the textbooks would be a waste if he can't collect the money.

After arriving at his dorm the first thing he does is text Jake and wait for a response, whilst waiting he starts fixing more bugs on his app.

'Turns out there's a lot more to do with this app than what I planned, then again I was a newbie starting a fairly big project but the only reason it has taken off was mainly from Jake, it seems like he had managed to spread it pretty far and wide.' Ronan was thinking of the many reasons why his app was taking all his time.

1 hour later and Jake still hadn't gotten back to him, so he called.

"Hey Jake, so you ill or something?" Ronan got through to Jake when he called.

"No, something just came up, I'll be busy for a couple of days, a week at most, if you want to hand in those textbooks you can either wait or give them to one of my 'minions', they'll be in a lecture in 2 days with the money." Jake replied with a somewhat tired voice.

"I'll wait, my apps taking up 3/4 of my time anyway and I can use these days to rest and focus on my app." Ronan said, whilst opening up his statistics on his laptop.

"Oh, I forgot to thank you for telling your friend about it, it became somewhat popular so now I have to do all kinds of bug fixes and look for various advertising platforms. I'll be getting my first paycheck from it as well in a couple of days." Ronan carried on, spilling everything to Jake as if they were part of the same family.

"That's good, you still want the textbooks to fill out? If the apps taking up most of your time maybe you want to stop with the textbooks, especially if you can make more money from the app." Jake started the sentence tired but ended almost exhausted.

"You sound tired, anyway I'll think about it and get back to you later, go sleep or something, it's not good for your health." Ronan replied while thinking 'Damnit, now I'm starting to sound like the system, at least I didn't make him run for 2 hours a day, that'd be killer.'

After hanging up Ronan looked at his statistics, just over 55k now, over 5k in 1 day, but compared to previous days it's starting to die down, with the advertisements maybe it'll get a new boost of people.

Ronan went to sleep thinking about his various plans on how to improve his app.

Ronan woke up to his alarm, he had set one the previous day because he was feeling more and more tired, getting up at the same time to run and use all his energy on coursework and his app, then he would have to find more time to complete the textbooks for various people for money. All in all, it was extremely tiring for Ronan.

'At some point, I'm going to have to create a schedule for my day, not just for running.' Ronan thought whilst getting ready to run again.

After running Ronan checked his stats and went back to a day of grinding the bugs down in his app and soon the day was over.

The next day Ronan woke up from his alarm, he was going to a lecture today to hand in the textbooks so he doesn't forget in the future, it was also the day he was getting paid, it was supposed to be tomorrow, but its the weekend so as the last day of the workweek, so he gets paid a day early.

After the lecture was done, he took a look at his Riverwood account, the money wasn't directly put into his bank account, but it could be set up that way, as Riverwood had many different products and services for sale you could get a discount if you use money inside your Riverwood account and the main reason why he kept the money inside the Riverwood account was due to this, you could withdraw money, but not deposit money into your account.

It was only $1747 but it was still a large amount, but considering that he doesn't get that amount, he has to take off the $262 that he pays the Agency, in total he gets $1485, which is still a large amount of money and because he paid for the majority of his apps features (Advertising on other websites, servers, Riverwood, etc.), he doesn't have to exchange it unlike the money from his textbooks, so he can buy a prosperity point with it, but it was not recommended so as he would have next to nothing left if he did, making it harder for him to gain more money in the future, especially if the app flops and he only manages to make 1 month worth of money out of it, despite it being in its infant stage and it only being available for around a week.

Ronan spends the next few hours looking at the various products and services he can buy at Riverwood, he buys some essential items such as DDoS protection so they can't target his servers, setting that up only took several minutes as both Riverwood and the company he was renting services from we're part of the same business group and they have worked together hundreds of times.

Ronan Atkins is a 20-year-old student, he studies Business Administration at Trinity College, it is considered as one of the best colleges to learn Business Administration in the world and in order to obtain a scholarship Ronan had to pass many tests, most of which have nothing to do with the actual course he was studying in, after passing all those tests he was finally given the scholarship he dreamed off, but even after getting the scholarship his life was hard, he had to work several jobs in order to pay for food and accommodation.
Until one day, when he is working part-time at a convenience shop something happens...

"You wrote a Python crawling script?" asked Wang Xiaodong when he heard Lu Zhou's statement.
Lu Zhou explained, "Technically speaking it's a ticket-buying app. I want to buy a server to try it out. Do you have any suggestions…"
"Stop screwing around," said Wang Xiaodong as he interrupted Lu Zhou rudely. He said, "Do you know how to set up the server? Do you have a place to put it? If you tried to put it in your dorm, the entire floor's circuit breaker will trip."
Uh?
Is he exaggerating?
But listening to his tone, it seems that he has tried it before…
Wang Xiaodong continued to talk through the phone with a cold tone, "If you want to make some money, you can do some freelancing work. There's no need to make an app. If you have money to spend, you can try renting a cloud server, which is definitely easier than owning your own server. You don't have to worry about electricity and heat dissipation. It charges you by the amount of traffic and there are monthly and hourly prices."

"Can't I just use the server's IP address?" asked Lu Zhou. 
"No," replied Wang Xiaodong immediately. He said, "For example, if you developed an app on IOS and you set a fixed server IP address in your code, once the cloud service operator changes the server device, not only would you have to rewrite the code and upload it again, but you might get rid of half of your users directly. Not everyone turns on automatic updates."

Lu Zhou had never heard of this before. 
Wang Xiaodong paused for a second before he continued to say, "Also the most crucial part is that your crawler's collection of data from the third party websites may be blocked by website administrators and they might block your IP address. This problem can be avoided with a cloud server. After all, Ali has countless IP addresses and you don't have to bother with virtual IP addresses."
The genius student became strangely talkative when talking about his expertise. He spoke like an endless stream. This made Lu Zhou thought about Huang Guangming. If he started to talk about the mechanics of playing Leblanc, he could go on for half an hour.
Of course, the content that the genius talked about was quite valuable. 
Lu Zhou listened carefully. He even took a notebook and started to write notes. 
"… If you're crawling from 12306, the crawler itself will not use a lot of resources from the server, especially since Ali is doing a promotion for small enterprise users, there is a good discount. I think you should start with one million sending and receiving server capacity. It's around 300 yuan a month. Wait till the number of your user visits go up, then you can upgrade the server. When the topic changed from computer science to food, Wang Xiaodong's enthusiasm instantly returned to zero and his tone became emotionless again.
However, Lu Zhou did not have any other questions nor did he wanted to talk for long either. He thanked him again before hanging up. 
Lu Zhou held the mouse and went on Alibaba's cloud computing page. He began to look for services.
Indeed, just like what Wang Xiaodong said, Alibaba Cloud was doing a promotion. The server had considerable discounts. 
"A million pps[1] server only costs 300 a month, includes 100GB cloud SSD, 200 yuan to upgrade to 1TB… 0.3 yuan per extra GB. CPU, intranet bandwidth, sending and receiving capabilities can all be upgraded. 50% discount for three years…" 
This price could be said to be quite attractive. If there were no unexpected circumstances, it would cost less than 1000 yuan per month to operate the app. If the user number surpasses the expected amount, he just had to upgrade the service. 
"Okay, this is solved. Next up is to promote the app. I have to promote it before school begins," thought Lu Zhou.

In short, the primary goal is to increase user volume!
Lu Zhou filled in the server renting application and went to the bathroom to take a shower. He dried his hair and returned to his dorm. 
He was about to climb on the ladder and sleep when he suddenly smelled a pungent stench. 
He turned around and saw that Liu Rui puked while laying on his side. 
F*ck!
This kid was just sleeping! How did he vomit?
Lu Zhou did not have time to hesitate. He jumped off the ladder and took Liu Rui to the toilet.
"Go away… I can still drink," said Liu Rui as he stumbled around. He reached out and pushed Lu Zhou. 
Lu Zhou panicked and quickly said, "F*ck, Brother Rui, you can't puke again! I'm warning you, I just had a shower!"
"barf…"
Lu Zhou: "…"
Lu Zhou showered for no reason and he could not sleep either. The dorm smelled extremely sour. 
Liu Rui swore that this was the last time he was going to drink. 
Liu Rui kept vomiting. When he was finally awake, he looked at the floor and Lu Zhou's dirty clothes. Embarrassed, he quickly apologized.
They turned off the air conditioner and cleaned up the debris together before opening the door for ventilation. 
After all this, Lu Zhou took another shower. When he came back, he took his mat and left for the class leader's dorm room. 
It was impossible to sleep without air conditioning. 
…
The next day, Lu Zhou woke up early.
When he returned to his own dorm, Liu Rui was still snoring on his bed. 
Lu Zhou did not bother him. Instead, he went to his desk and turned on his computer. 
The cloud server application was quickly ready. He uploaded the script and the crawler started to go to work. It downloaded ticket, station and other information from 12306 before it summarized and sorted the data. Anyone could make an account and purchase tickets, receive sale reminders, automatic ticket refresh, etc. 
It had all of the necessary features and it was also easy to use. The light blue background was boring but at least it was not annoying. 
Lu Zhou downloaded the app on his phone and chose a station to test. He saw that the order was ok, so he canceled the order in the payment stage. 
Then he spent an entire day to put the app on the android store. Stores such as Baidu mobile, 360 assistants, and other large Android software downloading platforms. 
He looked at the number of downloads through the developer panel and saw that the number of downloads remained at 0. He sighed. 
"I guess creating a successful app is not that easy. Having no users is a big problem." 
"I applied to a couple of free advertisement platforms. Don't know when I'll get accepted."
Lu Zhou shook his head and turned off his laptop. He then stuffed his textbooks into his bag. 
"Who cares. I'll work on this for half a year or so. At least, I can use it as a learning experience."

Moira was furious. Someone, more accurately, many people dared to bring harm to her brother. She glanced at the myriad of websites out there taking copies of Jericho for their own sites. "It seems these people have no idea how hard it is to live as an author."
"It seems we must accelerate your original plan, Eranoth," Jericho sighed. 
Eranoth scrunched his brows in anxiety. "But everyone will hate that. I guess I was too hopeful. I hoped that people would be honest. I hoped that things could go better. I wanted to see everyone including myself find enjoyment and happiness. It really does only take a few problematic humans to ruin everything."
Jericho nodded. "True, but what is more important? Writing until you are a shriveled husk and have to stop writing because you couldn't afford your electricity or internet bills, or making everyone upset right now so that you can write, and write properly moving forward, so you can afford these things. We all know that because of your horrible reactions to other people's colognes, perfumes, scented items, vape, smoke and other things, that you can't hold a normal job. Your health has already limited your options."
Moira nodded. "Right! You are writing to get published officially because it is one of your only hopes left. With all these people out there wanting to make you work your butt off for nothing, you are better off moving forward with your plan now rather than later. The most important thing is that the people who truly care about your work will gladly follow. Don't lump them into the 'they' that you fear. The 'they' is the minority of them, even if they are loud."
Eranoth sighed in defeat as he slumped onto Jericho's piano bench. "Logically I get it. Emotionally this is something I don't want to do. I really like interacting with these really fun people. I know they like my story as well. Alexandra's and ExtraWhiteRice's funny comments, TJinx's and Le_Berino's constant support, YoungJustice's 'defend the author' and everyone else's fun interactions and support."
Moira flicked the author's forehead. "It's not like you are dropping the story. The fans that care, will follow you. They will enjoy all the extra hard work you have put in to improving things. Think about it, all they really want is for our story to continue. You are still doing that. In fact, you are doing even more than just continuing the story."
Jericho nodded. "She's right, and on top of that you are being extremely kind and informing them of the choice you have made after days of self debate. You aren't reacting to the situation, you are acting in your best interest and their best interest. Besides, this plan has been there for a long time, you are just hastening it."
"But I was hoping to get out volume 2 before I enacted any portion of this plan. I was hoping to hoping to have volume 1 published before I enacted my plan. Only one person is following my ko-fi for my announcements. The discord was a flop. I'm afraid that this will fail just like everything else."
Jericho smiled. "When do things ever go according to plan? Besides, if you keep speaking Eranothian, you will keep confusing people."
A knock was heard at the door. 
"They are here." Moira opened it. "Everyone, You're here! Come in, come in! Eranoth's got some really exciting news that will make you happy!"
Eranoth shook his head in disbelief, "I really don't think my choice will make people happy," he muttered to himself. 
A horde of over 500 people crowded into the living room killing off any breathing room. "What is this news you have to tell us?"
Eranoth clenched his fist as he struggled to find the words. "I'm leaving the internet writing scene."
The group was in uproar and some people left before hearing the rest of what the author was trying to say.
"I mentioned before that I am going the publishing route. As I have been editing volume 1, I realized that my voice, especially when I can get it edited, doesn't really match the air of internet writing. So, coming up, you will see a significantly improved version of my work in physical book and e-book format. When I can get things out, the first place you will be able to find it at is <B>barnesandnoble.com</B>."
"Bah, paperback versions," a random person said as they walked out the door. 
Eranoth took a deep breath. "I was offered the webnovel contract, but found that the conditions for them to pay me anything were too harsh for me. For the sake of my work, I could not accept their conditions and feel happy about it."
Moira smiled. "Jericho and I are glad you chose to reject it for our sake and the sake of the royal bardians, but if you keep sacrificing like this, eventually you won't have the capability to continue."
Eranoth nodded slowly. "Right," he said before looking up at the expectant faces. "Recently, I discovered that my story has been copied and pasted onto about ten other websites without my permission. One website is calling me a translator. Another website is saying they are posted my work on their site in order to promote me. Others have said nothing. But Jericho the Bard is my intellectual property. Since I cannot earn money to pay for any of the basic necessities for an author to keep writing; these websites are doing all of us way more harm then good. So, I had to come up with a plan in order to counteract the damage that has been done."
Another person spat. "So your plan is to drop it? How dare you! We all told you not to drop it!"
Eranoth flinched as he held his own tears. "Changing mediums," he muttered. "All I'm doing is changing mediums."
Jericho sighed. "Everyone, this isn't easy for Eranoth to do or say." He turned to the author. "Eranoth, just your self-editing alone has made the future version of our story into something far more fulfilling and significantly less boring. You have already made thousands of changes. You have made many things clearer, you have simplified the difficult to understand complexities of game mechanics, and you have added more depth to the story. I'm curious to see what will happen once your editor April gets her hands on it. If you alone can make that much of a leap in progress, I'm looking forward to when she tears things to shreds and can help you see where things need more work."
Another person spoke up. "You are doing all this extra work, Why? Your story is great where it is."
Eranoth turned away took a breath and looked out the cold snowy window. "This is the only Win-Win I could find after a long time of searching. Publishing official versions of my works seems to be the best way forward. Jericho and Moira deserve this editing. They are worth more to me, than first draft vomit onto the page. You all can see and understand far more and my story will progress far better if I put in this extra work. I can potentially earn a piddly income in order to keep writing, and do things right by everyone."
Eranoth turned to face the slowly shrinking crowd once again. "Originally, I was going to post volume 2 and have volume 1 published before I took any similar actions. But after seeing the dishonesty of people on the internet, I knew I couldn't let that continue. Oh, and for all those reading this on other websites, contact your website group and let them know there are slight changes in all the chapters and that if they want to be more complete, they should restart their copy pasting ways. Everyone will be happier if they do."
"What was that about?" another random person asked. 
Eranoth grinned as the person asked about his diabolical plan. "Just a little insurance. After all, I am J Eranoth, the author of this book. If they are going to copy and paste my work onto their websites at least they should acknowledge who this book came from. But enough about them," the author's grin vanished. "If you stay with me, or follow my ko-fi, I will be able to let you know when things are officially out, and with the ko-fi, other updates as well. Thank you again for all the support you have given me so far. When things are available, I will update another chapter to let you know. Eranoth took a breath to calm down. "I know many of you will chose to leave, knowing that the online posting of my story or chapters is no longer going to be a thing for me. I hope many of you can understand both my fears and my dreams. I hope that many of you will be happy with the fact that I care so much about everyone that I want the best for me, for you, and for my stories. I hope that more than just my story of Jericho can see the light of readers eyes. I have more works I have been working on during this time. And those who are thinking that I am a selfish person, you are right, I am. I am not someone who can sacrifice everything with a smile and say it will all work out! I am not someone who can live in this era of 'you exist therefore you must pay for the air you breath' without a means to take care of myself. If I don't do this, then eventually I would have had to stop writing because of a lack of sufficient income and/or worsening health because of my adverse reactions to most things that scream "people". I haven't been to a movie theater in years. I haven't hung out with someone in a social place in years. I can't even go over to some of my friends' houses to hang out with them. I haven't been to a church in a long time. All of this is because of my adverse reactions to colognes, perfumes, scented items (Plug-in air fresheners, candles, oils and so on), other people's vape, second hand smoke and many other harmful (to me) substances that can be found ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE!"
Eranoth sighed and looked down, trying not to break down in tears. "Sorry, I got on my soap box. But you never know the life an author is facing. Why are they writing? I just wish that some people would realize how much pain some of us are actually in. I'm not the only one to face this. I'm not the only author or artist out there who cannot hold a normal job. I didn't write this so you would pity me. In fact, I hate people's pity. But I want you to understand that I am doing this 51% for selfish reasons. I am a selfish person."
Moira smiled at Eranoth's courage to speak about the reality of his own life. "How is that selfish?" she asked.
Eranoth shook his head. "I don't know, but I do know that it is what most people would call it. This is hard for me. I wanted to keep interacting with you all. I really had hoped that online writing could be the answer. But things rarely go how we want them. So, I will say once more for good measure.
