EKO UNDER SIEGE

Lagos, 1845. Nestled along the West African coast, this burgeoning city thrived with a pulsating energy. The streets of Lagos Island were alive with the vibrant colors of bustling markets, where traders from far-flung lands haggled over spices, textiles, and precious goods. The air was thick with the mingling scents of palm oil, exotic spices, and the ever-present sea breeze. At the heart of this dynamic metropolis stood the palace of Oba Kosoko, a majestic structure of red clay and thatch that symbolized strength and authority. Oba Kosoko, a shrewd and formidable ruler, had ascended to the throne of Lagos through a series of calculated alliances and decisive actions. Under his reign, Lagos had grown into a significant commercial hub, attracting merchants and adventurers from across the globe. Yet, beneath this veneer of prosperity, tensions simmered. The British Empire, with its relentless drive for expansion, had set its sights on Lagos. Recognizing the city's strategic importance as a gateway to the interior of Africa, the British presence was growing ever more intrusive. Their ships, flying the Union Jack, anchored in Lagos Harbor with increasing frequency, their intentions masked by diplomatic niceties and commercial exchanges. In the neighboring town of Badagry, whispers of British ambitions were common among the elders. Badagry, once a flourishing port for the transatlantic slave trade, had witnessed the tides of change as abolitionist movements gained momentum. The British, presenting themselves as benevolent traders, now sought to extend their influence inland, posing a direct challenge to Oba Kosoko's authority. Epe, another ancient town, known for its strategic waterways and rich cultural heritage, also felt the tremors of impending conflict. The British made overtures of friendship, but the leaders of Epe, wary of their true intentions, remained vigilant. The tension between the desire for economic benefits and the threat of subjugation created an atmosphere of unease. In the bustling markets of Lagos, amidst the cacophony of trade and the rhythm of daily life, lived Abeni, the spirited daughter of a prominent noble family. Raised with the privileges of her noble birth, Abeni was known for her keen intellect and unyielding spirit. Despite her sheltered upbringing, she yearned for adventure and a life beyond the constraints of her family's expectations. Thomas Radcliffe, a British trader newly arrived in Lagos, was a man of mystery and charm. With his striking blue eyes and a demeanor that belied his true motives, Thomas sought fortune and opportunity in this thriving city. However, beneath his charming exterior lay a man grappling with his own secrets and ambitions. Their worlds collided in a fateful encounter that would change their lives forever. Abeni, drawn to Thomas's enigmatic presence, found herself entangled in a romance that defied cultural boundaries and societal norms. As their love blossomed in secrecy, the political landscape around them grew increasingly volatile. The British, determined to bring Lagos under their control, intensified their efforts. Espionage and subterfuge became the tools of their trade, as they sought to undermine Oba Kosoko's reign. In response, the Oba and his loyalists prepared to defend their sovereignty, aware that the stakes had never been higher. The storm was gathering. The winds of change swept through the ancient towns of Lagos, Badagry, and Epe, whispering of impending conflict and upheaval. In the heart of this vibrant city, two souls were drawn together by fate, their love a beacon of hope amidst the looming darkness. As the drums of war began to beat, the destiny of Lagos hung precariously in the balance, poised on the edge of a precipice from which there could be no return.

A lovely pink Kitty-Pup (DROPPED)

A/N : You guys know all the copyright crap? Imagine it’s all here… . . . . . . In the midst of a heavy rain, two beings lock eyes. A human girl, with light blue hair and eyes that looked like glittering sapphires. A strange pink creature, with the body of a cat, the fur and tail of a wolf, and the eyes of a snake. “So…you got abandoned too huh?” “Nya…” The human girl blinked her large eyes. “Did you just…say yes?” “Nya.” Seeing the pink creature nod, the girl chuckled. “I was abandoned too, but now I live with my mom and big sister.” She seemed to be reminiscing of something pleasant, evident by the small smile on her face, before she turned back to the pink creature. “Do you want to come with me?” “Nya?” The pink creature’s eyes widened slightly. It raised its paws, pointing at itself, as if in disbelief. “Yeah, you. I’m sure mom and big sis would like you too. Besides…” The girls stretched her hands, making the pink creature back away suddenly. The two paused, the pink creatures looking at the human girl before it warily. But the girl just smiled. A pure, beautiful smile. “Mom likes kitties, and big sis has always wanted a wolf pup for a pet. And pink is my favourite colour. I even wanted to dye my hair pink but mom never allowed it.” She slowly approached closer, the pink creature letting it although still wary, and she picked him up gently. “You look like a mix of both a kitty, and a wolf pup. And you’re pink.” She gently embraced it. “Don’t you think you’re just perfect for us, Nyanta?”

When the Jazzman Sings

Because of a deathbed promise to his father, Elijah Peck reluctantly left his friends and successful career in Bridgeport to return to Willowby, Connecticut, the small town of his upbringing, in order to run the antique shop that had been in his family for generations. Now, in just the span of two years, Eli has morphed into a social recluse, isolated in what he believes is a stuffy, suffocating nowheresville. With no thriving gay community at his disposal, and with his entire existence wrapped around the store he never really wanted, Eli's devoted little time to his personal needs. As a result, instead of acting like a man in his mid-thirties, living out his own dreams, maybe even finding love with the right guy, he often feels like just another item in his shop -- a dusty, moldy antique that has seen better days.

But all that starts to change when a stranger moves to Willowby.

One night outside his shop, Eli has a chance encounter with Neville "Gray" Grayson, a wickedly handsome musician who's purposely left the bustle of New York City in favor of quiet country living. Eli is instantly drawn to Gray, and the flirtatious jazzman stirs dormant feelings inside Eli, reinvigorating his hopes for a brighter future. Not only does Gray make Eli feel attractive for the first time in years, but also makes him appreciate small-town life in a way he never has before. And Eli can't help but wonder if Gray's presence also offers the promise of finding much-needed companionship, sexual fulfillment, and perhaps even love ...

The story is amzing but I think the mc design is more amazing as it really shows how I think a modern person would act like in a cultivation world. I like how patient and how he can hold himself back and stay calm especially with all the xianxia troupes.

The grammar is meh but is improving each chapter… But ignoring that, this is golden, I can relate to the MC and the general cultivation stupidity isn’t in him(well not fully). Update is over the top it’s so fast that it autocorrect all the rating into 5stars.

i like it , the story is fast paced and enjoyable to read . There are a few paragraphs in which the author writes a couple of mistakes but overall the story is an enjoyable read .

the mc trusts in a god who has survived wars and probably killed and deceived countless people plus he has some wisdom there better than an unusual human and is probably over 20 and probably just like an innocent 8 year old child, that's by far one of the funniest things i've ever seen in my life.

Have just started reading the first chapter. Immediately saw that you leave a space before and after punctuation. "Hello . Hello" <- This is wrong "Hello. Hello" <- This is right. Same goes for "," commas. I'd appreciate if you fixed it since it just looks better and distracts less.
