In that second Jean used her ability's to raise everyone above the ground, she figured out what Tomura meant.
She didn't care if she was saving The Brotherhood in that moment they were allies. She also didn't care that she had tore up the ground around the now floating mansion.
She also didn't care how much her head was hurting with the sudden load on her mind. She however did care watching as everything within miles was suddenly flattened into a crater in less than ten seconds.
Her eyes were wide as she tried to decipher what was going on in Tomuras head, all she could hear was an indescribable mix of screaming, words and screeching.
She couldn't sense any other minds close, nor anyone in the mansion. It must have been evacuated quickly. She steadily lowered the mansion onto what used to be grass but is now stone and dirt.
Her eyes dropped back to the ground as she heard Tomura laughing, his laugh was dry and sounded like it hurt but it rang around the crater like a ghost.
Why was the main thought in her head.
Why would this happen, how did this happen.
She thought back and how Tomura mentioned a Wall in his head, she assumed it was a type of mental wall.
And when it came down, was he brainwashed? Was he only being nice before because of the Professor.
She looked over to the older man, he had a mix of awe, fear, worry and anger all running through his surface thoughts.
Jean thought any anything, something she could do to snap him out of this mental break. She thought of her time with the teenager and remembered one thing.
She used her mind and grabbed something in the boys room, she remembered it vividly. Afterall she paid quite a bit for the piece of cloth.
The red cloak/cape zoomed across the battlefield and towards Tomura at high speeds, he caught the piece of clothing.
In that moment his mind stopped screaming and she heard him, not the chaos that was there before.
'My cloak'
In a smooth movement he had placed the red cloak on his bare shoulders.
In that moment he felt almost complete.
She saw him take a deep breath as the cloak was on, he looked like he was at least trying to calm down.
The wind blew and the cloak flapped majestically in the wind.
She turned her head, she could sense the minds of others approaching.
Familiar minds.
'Avengers incoming' she sent the message to every mutant except Tomura, she didn't want Magneto to accidentally anger someone like Banner.
Tomuras started to pant as he looked down at the floor, it seemed that his mind was at war with itself.
She tried to listen in again but could only hear screams and quickly cut the connection.
The avengers jet landed with a thud and the door opened with a mechanical whir. Captain America was the first out of the jet, his eyes instantly locked onto Magneto, Stark quickly landed with a thud and also seemed to keep eyes on Magneto.
Next was Black Widow and Hawkeye, both surveyed the crowd and while everyone was focused on the avengers and Magneto, Black widows eyes went to the white haired figure that had its back to her.
It was familiar.
Banner was the pilot of the jet and he stayed put, if they needed him he would be there.
Thor landed with a crash and surveyed the surrounding area with a keen eye.
Stark opened his helmets faceplate. "Quite a big bit of land destroyed, you making a lake?" he said playfully with a hint of steel underneath as he also observed the surrounding area.
Jean had her eyes on Tomura, if he touched the ground now…well, she had to be ready in case.
"Stark, I don't wish to be rude, but why have you arrived?" Xavier tried to downplay the seriousness of this situation.
"Oh, you know a sensor of mine picked up a shit ton of energy, and well you know me" he shrugged "I wanted to be safe, given last time I detected a ton of energy I found a portal in the middle of New York" he referenced the New York invasion.
Stark had always been a bit mad the X-Men didn't help with that, they were however as Xavier had explained over a dozen times on a mission at the time.
"Hmm interesting Stark, but as you can see" Charles gestured to the peaceful group of mutants "We've got this covered" Charles has always disliked the fact Stark has always been simply put, an arrogant arse.
"Ah don't wor-" the sarcastic words about to come out of Starks mouth were interrupted by the Captain.
"Xavier, we just want to know if we can help." Steve Roger's smoothly interjected and pushed to the front of the group.
By now the only people floating were Magneto, Jean had dropped everyone to the floor. But she's got her eyes focused on Tomura, ready for if he even thinks of touching the ground.
Tomuras hand was pressed hard against his chest as his panting only got harsher, he was hunched over as his mind clashed with itself.
"Thank you Captain, but we really are fine. I appreciate the offer and your willingness to help" Xavier said in a far calmer tone.
Captain America nodded and was prepared to leave, just as he turned around he heart Black Widows breath hitch.
"It's you" the dry raspy voice carried across what used to be Xavier's beautiful garden.
Captain America turned to the voice only to see its owners eyes locked onto Natasha.
His blue eyes narrowed on the white haired figure, he had never met him before.
The figure hunched over and coughed, no dry heaved? But as the sound continued Steve realised it was laughter.
The sound was grating, it was dry and painful sounding it even carried on as the boy took multiple steps closer.
He was now 30 feet away and it felt far too close for Steve's liking.
"Stop right there son" Steve's deep voice rung out and Tomura stopped instantly, his laugh however continued and only picked up intensity.
Hawkeyes eyes were wide in surprise and slight fear, this kid has clearly been trained and is far more confident.
The fact he was so confident when even someone like Thor was stood next to them only made his heart beat faster.
Hawkeye breathed in.
The teenager was gone, he had just-
"NATALIEEE!" The boy screamed as he rocketed towards the wide eyed red head.
His hand was mere inches away from her face, her heart hadn't even had time to beat.
His red eyes were wide with visible euphoria, while hers were wide with surpirse.
Time seemed to go slow for Clint, the hand was not even an inch away anymore. He could feel his heart pounding and regret pooling in his chest.
He should have shot, he should have killed the little bast-
A casual swipe of Mjölnir sent the teenager flying, he was sent hundreds of meters and rolled for another hundred before his body came to a ungraceful stop.
Hawkeye released his breathe.
