20 Chapter 19

Gavin had followed the star chart to an unknown region of space. Strangely, it seemed like the Jedi of old were quite familiar with the area. According to the records, Gavin could find the Chiss after the fall of the Sith Empire had withdrawn from the galaxy. They had somehow even destroyed most records of their existence, much less location.

Remembering they were severely against preliminary strikes, he came in uncloaked broadcasting on an open band asking for someone in charge.

"Chaf'orm'bintrano, Aristocra of the Fifth Ruling Family, Sarvchi." A voice answered him. "Who are you?"

"A traveler, I have received a call for help from a friend." Gavin answered. He wanted to keep his force sensitivity a secret for now. Thrawn may have been punished for attacking the outbound flight, but that was not to say that the Chiss would be willing to admit that their forces shot down a ship with Jedi aboard.

"Nobody had sent out a call for help." Chaf(Shortening his name) answered shortly.

"I'm not surprised your sensors did not detect it. The transmitter is unique. It can even transmit near a black hole." Gavin lied partially. After all, the force did transmit a call for help, and no ordinary sensors would be able to detect or jam that.

There was a pause on the other end of the line. Gavin could almost see the wheels turning. How many people could have heard the transmission, Are more coming? "Listen Chaf'orm'bintrano, can we talk face to face?" Gavin asked suddenly, surprising the Chiss.

"Why, what cannot be said over the transmissions?" Chaf asked.

"You don't want what I know over an open line. Let's speak face to face and see if we can't find a solution that works for us both." Gavin answered. (I'm playing sabaac with my life and the lives of the ones on that ship, I need to be careful.) Gavin thought to himself.

"Do you wish to meet aboard your ship or mine?" Chaf finally asked.

"Either one is fine, so long as you and I can speak away from listening ears." Gavin replied.

"Then land your ship in the designated hangar bay. Leave all weapons on board, and you will be brought to speak." Chaf responded.

"Understood," Gavin said before moving to the hangarbay that they designated in thwir message. Putting on his N7 armor, he put most of his weapons in the locker near the bridge. Gavin gambled on them, not being able to detect the Omniblade just in case.

Chiss politics were convoluted and included a lot of backstabbing. They were a xenophobic race that saw outsiders as a threat. They did not hate aliens per se but rather seemed to be wary of the dangers that aliens may pose to them. Gavin had to keep this in mind. After all, they might decide to kill him to keep him quiet.

Gavin was met at the airlock by a squad of Chiss troopers weilding unique projectile weapons. Allowing himself to be searched and scanned he was right thwir sensors could not detect the omniblade, the most they found was the omnitool, and Gavin convinced them that it was just a wrist computer and comm system linked to his ship.

Being led to a conference room, Gavin met with a middle-aged Chiss who identified himself as Chaf'orm'bintrano. He and Gavin began to speak, at first denying any knowledge of the people Gavin sought. "No ships have entered our system without our knowledge. Unfortunately, your transmitter must be mistaken." Chaf Began.

"With all due respect, sir, that is false, and you are aware." Gavin replied. Before Chaf could speak again, Gavin continued. " I am not by any means suggesting that the mighty Chiss Ascendancy had anything to do with the ships' disappearance. After all ones such as yourself who value their privacy would not dare endanger it by attacking a civilian ship. Besides, there is a way this works out best for both of us."

"And what is that?" Chaf asked hesitantly.

"Simple, I get the survivors out of here, allow them to continue their mission which was to establish colonies outside of known space." Gavin said.

"And this works for us. How?" The Chiss asked.

"You will gain an ally against the Far Outsiders." Gavin said, making a gamble.

"What do you know of them?!" Chaf said suddenly before calling for his security troops.

"They call themselves the Yuuzham Vong. They use biological weaponry and technology. They seek their lost homeworld. The first record of them was close to 3500 years ago, and they tend to stay away from major population centers. The ship that was found is likely a scout. They are a warlike race and expect that from others." Gavin answered. " I also know that preparations by any single power will prove ineffective against their main fleet."

"So what are you proposing?" Chaf asked.

"Allow me to get those who wish to leave and go." Gavin said, "I will give you a method to contact me, and we can begin preparations. I intend to create a separate order from the Jedi or Sith. they will stay in unknown regions or wildspace until they are ready, then will assist with the invasion."

"These colonists are they a part of your preparations?" Chaf guessed.

"Indeed, Those who wish to join me can in exchange I will set them up with a colony as far away from known space as I can which was their goal to begin with." Gavin answered easily.

"And if one of our officers had something to do with the unfortunate incident leading to a crash?" Chaf asked.

"Then I leave it to the wisdom of your people as how to deal with him. I would warn you, however, with the looming threat, it would be unwise to get rid of a promising officer and leader." Gavin answered back.

"Hmmmmm, return to your ship. You shall have an answer for you by the end of the day." Chaf responded respectfully.
