"…Dark Magic?" I say slowly, "Headmaster, you know as well as I do that calling 'Fulmecio' Dark Magic is a stretch."
"Alas, it is still considered Dark by our esteemed Ministry," he said with a twinkle in his eyes, "And the rules are quite clear about how to handle such a situation."
I groan at my idiocy, of course Dumbledore would use anything he could to get rid of me. The spell I used is something even Aurors have been known to use. It's really more of a Grey Magic, the only reason people even associate it with Dark Magic is that if you overpower it it could stop peoples hearts. I should have just used an Immobulis spell instead.
"You even killed those poor creatures in Professor Lockhart's class, it's obvious you're traveling down a bad path," he said looking at me with sadness.
"I would like my Head of House to be present for the rest of this conversation." I say with a calm tone. I've already thought of a couple of scenarios to get me out of this, but Sirius can help me by being an authoritative presence to deter any unfair treatment.
"You dare make demands after what you've done?" Snape said with a sneer. I ignore him, since I've requested my Head of House, they legally can't keep him from this meeting.
Lockhart shook his head in faux sadness and said, "I'm sorry Mr. Black, I shouldn't have put so much pressure on you. If only I had done as I had originally planned and cast a wide area of affect charm to banish the pixies, oh well what's done is done."
I roll my eyes but remain silent, staring into the Headmasters eyes. He stares back for a minute before frowning and saying, "Very well Mr Black, we will call for Sirius."
They called over the floo and we waited for about 5 minutes. Sirius walked through the floo with a stony expression looking every bit the Noble Lord. I snicker at his little mask he wears in formal occasions. I guess I'm just so used to seeing him as the lovable prankster that seeing him so serious is a funny change.
"Hello Ares, it's good to see you again, though I wasn't expecting to be seeing you so soon." He said glancing at the assorted teachers gathered here.
"Sirius it's good to see you, though I wish it was for better circumstances." Dumbledore said in a jovial tone extending his hand to shake Sirius's hand.
Sirius looked down at the hand and said, "It's Lord Black for occasions such as this. One, would think you would be aware of this with you holding the roles of Chief Warlock and Supreme Mugwump."
Dumbledore looked angry at the rebuke but soon settled into an amicable expression and motioned everyone to sit. "Lord Black, I've called you here because your Heir has used Dark Magic in the school. He even killed multiple creatures before we brought him here, on top of this, the previous day he was extremely disrespectful to Professor Snape. As per the rules, we have decided to expel him and to have his wand snapped.
Sirius looked at me in alarm, he had thought he'd be coming into a meeting just for making a nasty comment at Snape. I notice his look and say, "You neglect to mention how rude Professor Snape was being to the Lord of a Noble and Most Ancient House. I believe he called Lord Black a 'mangy mutt' and 'scum'. Some people have been challenged to a fight to the death for less."
Sirius jerked his head towards Snape who was looking all to pleased. Before it dissolved into a fight, I ask Dumbledore, "How do you plan to satisfy my Lord?"
All eyes turned to Dumbledore who looked annoyed, "Nevertheless, you spouted humiliating comments at Professor Snape and this deserves punishment."
I nod and move to another crime I committed, "As to the charge of using Dark Magic and killing many creatures that belonged to the school, Professor Lockhart let lose a swarm of Cornish Pixies that attacked multiple students. Then when they stole his wand from him after a failed spell on his part, he ran out and shut me in with them asking me to clean up his mess. I then had to use the one spell that I knew that could do something to them, Fulmencio. I believe that such incompetence from the staff of Hogwarts is appalling and to blame me, a second-year for only having a singular spell, that while a bit darker than most, saved me from further injury is criminal on your part.
Sirius looked furious at my situation and glared at Dumbledore while saying, "You dare interrupt my precious time because of your incompetence! Albus, if you try to expel Ares for this, I will drag you in front of the ministry and you know that the jury full of pureblood will be furious at the state Hogwarts teachers has fallen to. There isn't a way in hell that the Ministry will let you snap his wand!"
Dumbledore growled at this but knew it was true. Just then Lockhart made the mistake of speaking, "Now good sir, I resent th-
"You shut up you absolute buffoon! You have the hall to try and expel my Heir after what you pulled. I can assure you that the Hogwarts Governor's will be hearing of your supposed teaching." Sirius snapped at him.
Dumbledore seeing he wasn't going to win this said, "It seems we need to reach a compromise, we believe Ares needs to be punished, and I'm sure that you don't want to be dragged out into the spotlight for Dark Magic right now with your family's history. I suggest 2 weeks suspension, this will give everyone time to cool off and will let us say we did something in case another situation like this happens with Ares."
Sirius looked like he was going to lose it, but I placed a hand on his shoulder to hold him back and said, "We agree, with the stipulation that it doesn't go on my permanent record."
Dumbledore thought this over and said, "Agreed. Please collect your things and I'll have Argus escort you and Lord Black to the front gates."
I know that this is just meant to humiliate me and show everyone in the school that I had been suspended for something, but I agree anyways. Arguing for this would be pointless.
I collect my things and we stay silent the whole time we are paraded out of Hogwarts, with Filch spewing his hate at me getting off lightly and how he wished they would go back to the old days were they hung the children from their thumbs.
Once we were off the premises, Sirius asked me, "Why didn't you fight this Ares? We could have won that, there was no reason to agree to any punishment."
I laugh at the absurdity of the situation and say, "Why would I do that? This is precisely what we needed!"
Sirius looked confused and I sighed and explained, "I've been getting more and more angry at that school and Lucius. With this break I can calm my head and look into some ways to get back at Lucius."
A look of understanding flashed on his face and he chuckled, "So are we sticking it to the ponce soon? We don't really have the resources to fight him right now."
"I never said we'd be fighting him directly. You need to lose some of that Gryffindorish thinking, and start thinking like a Slytherin. After all, blackmail and subterfuge haven't failed me yet," I say with a gleam of excitement flashed in my eyes.
