Chapter 22 Real Spending

Getting home I made my way to my room and placed the spiders into their enclosures. While doing this I discovered that the spider that bit Peter somehow went missing or should I say escaped.

I checked multiple times with sugar and it really wasn't there that damn thing somehow ran away. I wasn't too worried on loosing it genetic information since I could just take it from Peters blood but this was still a problem.

Who knew where it would go and if it would bite someone one. Argh a problem for another day.

Too avoid thinking about the spider I instead focused my thoughts back on the day and the choices I had made along with some of the things I learned. This was something I had started doing after taking NZT.

Ned during the tour mentioned Star Wars meaning that some pieces of knowledge I have in my system might be in this world too as Fiction. Definitely something I need to look out for and check while at school since there's not much for the teacher to actually teach me anyway.

Speaking of science fiction, it's about time that I buy some more knowledge from the shop. Specifically something related to genetics so I don't mess my own body up. There are tons of serums and procedures to increase my strength but what mattered most was synergy.

Everything I used needed to seamlessly integrate within my body without killing me or crippling me.

"System show me the best options for genetic knowledge"

[Very Well]

[System Shop!]

[Doom: 24th Chromosome] +400 Points

[Halo: Spartan Program] +400 Points

[Fallout: Genetics] +200 Points

[Available Points 1160]

24th Chromosome the pinnacle of science, a supergene created by the humans that lived on Mars.

The body is optimized and is practically immune to all viruses and diseases and it is excellent in repairing cellular damage.

Granting numerous benefits like a healing factor and increased strength/speed due to the natural limiters of the body being lessened. This also adds an increased life span but it's never mentioned how long in the movie. Based on what I saw it should at least add another century but this could also be wrong with the life span being much higher.

Then there are also the increased mental functions helping in increasing the signals of the brain for better memory and reaction time.

Overall it's an amazing enhancement despite all the hate the movie got. Then there was also the knowledge of genetics they had. Creating a chromosome is much harder than it sounds.

Next is the Spartan Program, while Dr Halsey may not have made an entire chromosome like the scientists in Doom but that doesn't mean her knowledge of genetics is lacking in fact it should be rather high.

In order to make multiple augmentation and enhancements one must be aware of the body's limits and potential.

This is also why Dr Halsey used children who had the highest genetic potential within humanity during the Spartan 2 Program. This process was also improved later on for those with less genetic potential but resulted in weaker Spartans. Dr Halsey didn't even consider 3 or 4s to be Spartans at that point and I can't help but agree.

At the end of the day, it wasn't just the program that made Spartans what they were but their very genes.

Lastly, there's the knowledge from Fallout ranging from multiple different groups like the Institute, the big empty, and even the Enclave. All of which were remnant organizations from before the Great War.

Each one varied in knowledge and paths they took but that doesn't mean it's not useful even if they don't quite meet the level of Halo or Doom.

Hmm technically I could just buy all three but honestly, that's really a waste of my points.

After some thanking and planning I began looking at the bigger picture and made my decision.

Alright, I'll get the 24th Chromosome and also The Spartan Programs. Both are extremely useful in increasing my own strength while also helping me get a better understanding of genetics so I can understand the Spiders more.

Now those two together should cost me 800 points leaving me with 360 enough to get some more things.

I needed some stuff that could help spread my name beyond just a coding master. My company was Dagon Technologies after all and not Dagon Software's.

Thinking about what field to focus on I figured that the best bet would be Military and for multiple reasons.

The main one is Tony Stark's exit from the market once they finally find the guy. It'll leave a hole for many other companies to try and fill, quite the opportunity.

Then there's also the lucrative amount of money that the United States puts into their military basically guaranteeing a comfortable life. The best part is that I don't even need to give them my best tech, just some normal stuff to keep them happy.

The only problem I see is my age. However, with a quick search on Google, I soon saw that this wasn't really a problem.

Tony Stark was allowed to make contracts with the military despite being a minor. This was also the case for Reed Richards. I guess at the end of the day the government just wants better toys and could care less how old the person who made them was.

Making contracts with the military can also give me some leeway and even a bit of protection from shield.

"System show me some Military Tech"

[Fallout: Non-energy Weaponry] +30

[Fallout: Energy Weaponry] +50

[Fallout: Ballistic Weave] +50

[Fallout: Military Armor] +30

[Fallout: Power Armor] +80

[Fallout: Chinese Stealth Armor] +50

[Fallout: Robot tech] +100

[Doom: ID Weaponry] +20

[Doom: BFG] +40

[Halo: Weaponry] +30

[Halo: Marine Armor] +30

[Halo: ODST] +50

[Halo: Spartan Armors] +200

[StarShip Troopers: Weaponry] +20

[Aliens: M41A Pulse Rifle] +20

Seeing so many options was amazing and each one would make me one hell of a killing but I needed to be practical. The goal wasn't to make the military powerful so I needed to be careful with what I shared.

Right off the bat, I removed Energy Weapons, BFG, ODST, and Spartan armor. That stuff was just way too good but that didn't mean I would never buy it.

In fact, those were things I was planning to keep for myself and my people.

Then there were the guns from Starship and aliens. They were nothing special, only slightly better than modern guns. The same could be said with the guns used in Doom but at least they used Identification technology.

Choosing was seeming more and more difficult as time went on. I couldn't help but wonder if I was being too picky.

Come on I need something good that can set me apart from the rest while still not being amazing.

That's when I set my sights on the fallout section specifically robotics. I clearly remember the scene in Iron Man when the government was trying to get Tony's technology due to how unique it was and also because no one else could make something even close.

Tony obviously refused and the military was forced to settle with clowns like Justin Hammer.

I was already planning on filling the void left behind by Tony so why not take this a step further and introduce robots? They aren't as sophisticated as the ones from I, Robot but also aren't crappy like the junk made by other companies.

At the end of the day, they were solid pieces of hardware that even survived hundreds of years after the Great War. With many models ranging from military to civilian giving me more options and also leaving me not so reliant on the government.

Then there's the guns and armor from Fallout. They may not be as impressive as the robots but they are also good in their own way and will still bring me profit.

"System I'm ready to make my purchase"

[Ready when you are Host]

Laying down on my bed I took a piece of cloth and mentally prepared.

'Purchase 24th Chromosome, Spartan Program, Fallout Robotics, Weaponry, and Armors'

[Host, Do you confirm your purchase?]

[Yes/No]

'Yes'

[Purchase Confirmed remaining total 200]

At that moment I don't know what happened there was no pain or even mental pressure like any other previous time. No, everything just went black before I could even wonder what was happening.

[A Few Hours Later]

Waking up I was a bit disoriented and had a small headache but nothing as bad as I imagined. Actually, this headache was actually lighter than all previous times.

'Looks like my guess was correct' I thought as I pulled out a bag of NZT

I already knew that buying knowledge overwhelmed me but I had an idea that these effects could be suppressed or even removed by using the NZT to push my brain at 100%. It was a small experiment that had some risk but it looks like Lady Luck was on my side.

Once I was done taking my breather and popping another pill of NZT to ease the headache I returned my focus to the reason I ended up in this situation.

The knowledge of genetics and Fallout tech. All I could really say was damn.

Dr Halsey is more of a genius than people gave her credit for and she knew way more about genetics than I originally thought.

Something else that was interesting was the kind of knowledge I got from her and other scientists. I didn't just get their success but also their failures and their ideas.

Turns out Dr Halsey knew so much about genetics because she believed that pushing the human limit lay there and had even thought of something similar to Erskine's Super Serum.

However, after a long study, she eventually figured that something like that would take too long and pressure from the UNSC didn't exactly give her much time. So she began to do the next best thing and that was to use what she learned about genetics and find those who were the most gifted and had the most potential among all of humanity.

Her idea was to take those individuals and use augmentation and special concoctions to continuously push the body till it reached superhuman levels. She really was a genius.

Then there was the scientist on Mars… honestly, I don't even know where to begin with that one. These guys had practically mapped the entire genetic code of humanity except for a few mutations here and there.

I guess they needed to know everything they could about the human genome to even attempt making a new chromosome. A shame it ended up turning half the population into monsters forcing them to nuke everything as they escaped to Earth.

The knowledge I got from the Fallout universe was also surprisingly really helpful and gave me plenty of things to work on in the future. Especially when it comes to robotics.

Fallout was a weird world where they had big clunky computers yet at the same time they had robots but that's beside the point. What really matters is that I should be able to upgrade the Fallout robots using my programming knowledge.

The weapons and armor are also good being slightly ahead of the curve but not enough that it would change civilization as we know it.
