Ch.40 Let's Dance.

Three days have passed since I signed the contract and we had already talked to Fudge about it and he said: "Just pay a fine, you will be fine." I had already said that I will be needing some practice with my magic.

He then wrote some letters and took a large sum and said "Do whatever you want for the rest of the year, I don't care. But please don't use any major dark spells or any rituals." I love the system that the previous wizards had created. It really works out if you are rich.

I was sitting in my study room strategizing what spells to use, since Alex is not the main opponent that I will face it is Fenrir. But I decided to use spells that will be effective against Fenrir.

Daphne was sitting in the study with me as well but she was reading the healing spells that I got for her from the chamber of secrets. These were non-parseltongue ones so she could read them easily. She was awfully quiet the whole time she was there I caught her catching glimpses at me and I wondered why that was.

She then sighed and put the book down and asked me "Hey Jon, my father said that you are going to duel Alex is that true?" there was a bit of a condescending tone in her voice.

Damit Florian why did you tell her now she will nag me about it. I didn't even look up and said "Yes, I am. I am testing him if he can defeat me then he might have a shot with Fenrir."

Daphne then walked up to the table and slammed it with her hands and asked, "What makes you think that you will be able to defeat Fenrir?"

I just looked at her like 'really you are going to question my abilities?' I didn't even say anything and got back to strategizing.

She then came close to me and said in a very calm voice "Jon, I know that you are strong, but these are werewolves. They have magical resistance and I just don't want to get you hurt."

I then got up and said, "Come let me show you something."

I then took her to the backyard and my backyard was more like a small forest than a yard.

She asked, "Why are we here?"

I then said "You are worried about my well being and I appreciate it I truly do. But..." I then turned around and took out my wand and then I waved my wands in a fast motion and three jets of light came one was white and caused a large explosion and created a big crater another was an ice-blue light, and then from the tip of my wand came a powerful jet of water that cut down the trees with ease and after that, a white thunderous lightning came and destroyed an oak tree.

Daphne saw my destructive capability of mine and was surprised she had seen me practising spells but didn't really know the extent of my powers. and I walked close to her and said "And these are not even my most powerful spells Daph. I am a practitioner of the dark arts, if I was allowed to use my spells Fenrir would turn to dust like that."

Daphne then looked at me and said "I just don't want you to get hurt. The thought of you fighting that monster just terrifies me."

I then came close to Daph and placed my arms on her shoulder and said "Nothing is going to happen to me Daph. And you really need to make yourself stronger because I am going to keep doing stuff that is dangerous. So I want you to be strong for me."

She nodded and I hugged her she was a bit surprised but didn't reject it. It may have been the first time when she and I have been soo close. I knew that she was genuinely worried about me, fighting Fenrir.

But in the future, I am going to fight many more death eaters and that time the chance of death will be significantly higher. I must prepare them for that as well.

I then asked, "Are you feeling better?"

She said "Yes."

I said, "Good now let's go inside I still need more planning to do." I then let go of her. Then we walked inside and I said "Don't tell Victoria about this, for now, she may not take it as well."

She then said "About that... "

I realised and said, "No! tell me you didn't."

She said, "I didn't she just overheard me and Alyssa."

I then heard a loud noise and I heard "Jon!"

I said, "Damn it she is here." I then thought of running away but then I decided that I will fight, I am standing my ground. No more will I take this.

She then came to the room all angry like and she walked towards me Daphne then went to the sofa and sat down as if she was not involved. I then decided to confuse her so I grabbed Coco and hugged her and said "I know you are scared and I know you might think that it's a bad idea for me to fight Fenrir but let me tell you that everything will be fine."

She was confused and said, "If you know that then why are you doing this?"

I then looked at her and said "From the past events it's clear that I will get into even more dangerous stuff coming in the future. So I want you to be able to trust that I can handle myself."

She said, "I know that you can handle yourself, you are very brave and capable, but I just can't help but feel worried for you."

I then hugged her close and said "I know."

After that, she calmed down and my strategy to confuse her worked. I might employ it when in times of need. They then helped me strategize my duel against Alex. And since I couldn't use any bigger dark spells I had to stick to light and small dark spells.

The day of the duel came. The place was Greengrass manor. Florian had a practice area, for magic that was big enough to hold a duel.

I was getting ready, I was wearing dragon leather armour, I was allowed because he was a werewolf and had innate magical resistance.

I don't really know how to describe it but the area looked awfully like a pokemon ring, you know two distinct sides with bleachers at two sides and had glass protecting the spectators.

I was wearing my gear and Alyssa was helping me she asked "How do you feel?"

I smiled and said, "I feel fantastic."

Daph and Coco were there as well but they were sitting in the stands and I looked at them and waved. They waved back and Alyssa asked, "Are you not scared?"

I said, "I am, but if I look scared then those two will be scared and I don't want that."

She then asked, "Then why are you doing this, fighting Alex and Fenrir?"

I said, "If Alex defeats me then amazing, I wouldn't have to fight."

She asked, "Why do you have to fight at all, if Alex doesn't win against Fenrir then we will still have many chances."

I then said "We will, but that will cost peoples lives. And if I can prevent some innocent people from dying then I will."

She said, "But some sacrifices are needed for the greater good." I was surprised by the answer that I got. I was friends with Alyssa for a year but I never got to know what she truly was like because we always interacted in a group. She could be more useful.

I said, "Sure some sacrifices are necessary but not this one." I didn't want an all-out war with the wolves since that would mean losing workers and wasting money. Who wants that when I can take down Fenrir myself. It was not that much about morals it was more about wasting resources.

I was then ready then Alyssa came close to me and leaned up and kissed me on the cheeks and said "Good luck out there."

I was surprised, it looks like she is not all that shy like Daph. Before entering the ring I silent cast "Corps Rapide." I then entered the ring. I then saw some wizards in the corner just in case something went south they are there to help. The mediwitch from St. Mungo's. were also on stand by.

The stadium was of normal ground it had some small rocks. I walked right to the centre and Alex was already standing there. He said in a cocky tone, "You can quit now, no one will judge."

I smiled and said, "Exactly."

He was pissed and said, "I am going to beat you."

I said, "Sure, tell yourself that, maybe it will help you when you wake up." I could hear him growling.

The referee of sorts came and said "I want a clean and a good match that means no use of unforgivable, no big dark spells, and no deaths. The match will end when one is unable to compete or if he yields. Do you understand the rules?"

I was surprised by how the referee was talking it was like he was coming from a boxing match or WWF or something. We both then nodded. We didn't bow. And went to our positions.

And then the referee went to a sort of a safe zone and said "Ready 1,2,3. Go!"

As soon as we got the go Alex started to throw spells towards me I swiftly dodged and weaved my way out and threw two Bombarda maxima he defected those towards his left and right side.

He then moved away from me quickly and shot three spells they were a bone-breaking spell, expulso and confringo. He was also using big damaging spells. I used protego and deflected most to the back.

I then continued with Bombarda Maxima and Incendio. And a jet of flame came for him he used protego to deflect it towards me I dodged it and he then threw an expulo with came close to me but I managed to dodge it by a hair.

The arena was in a cloud of dust from all the destruction, Alex looked very accomplished and said "Ready to give up now?"

I was on my knee then I smiled and pointed my wand at him and he used protego but there was no spell coming from the tip of the wand and then he got hit by a rock, he then turned around and saw several dozens of rocks floating in mid-air then I unleashed a volley of big hunks of rocks towards him.

He then turned around and used Reducto and while he was busy with that I used Aqua Eructo and a powerful stream of water was coming from the tip of my wand, seeing the attack coming and Alex used Ebublio Jinx.

And a bubble formed around him and I smiled and continued my two attacks and he was pushed back, he couldn't maintain the bubble and the jet of water threw him into a shallow ditch.

He got up quickly but I was already there and I said: "I won sweet dreams." I then pointed my wand and he said "No!" and I said "Baubillious!" and a jet of white sparks came from the tip and Alex was knocked out.

The mediwitch came to his aid and I Looked at Thomas in the stands and he looked bewildered. When I was busy bowing to the audience I was jumped by Daphne, Victoria, Alyssa and Astoria.

They started to look if I was hurt or anything. I said, "I am fine." They then hugged me even Daphne and then I put Astoria on my shoulders and then we left the arena.

Thomas asked, "Is he normal? How can a child be so powerful?"

Florian said "No, he is not normal in the conventional sense. He is unique in his own right. He is brilliant with Runes, has an exceptional talent for making money. Has a strong sense of family and is a bit of an airhead, but a monster when it comes to his magical prowess. These were not even his best spells."

Thomas was shocked at the revelation and looked at Jon and kind of realized as to what kind of a person Jon was and said "Making him my son-in-law was the best decision I might have ever made."

1. Was giving Mc another foster family. I didn't realize it at first but it was a mistake. I will change that.

2. The deal with Thomas I will change it so that he has something to offer Mc. Because the way I handled it was a mistake and made the Mc look like an Idiot. So I will change that as well.

And I had made another mistake I never really told you guys how the Mc looks like so I want you guys to suggest some to me. For reference, Mc is tall for his age, has a well-built body, has long Black hair. So please give suggestions in the comment box as to how should the Mc look like.
