Guardian of the Pacific: The Incredible Adventures of the Giant Turtle

The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.

You're Too Insolent!

POV: Brigadier General

The commander of the military unit guarding the dead Kaiju was drinking coffee in the tent where his office was located. His job was the easiest - to organize the protection of a 100-meter-tall creature that no one could ever move, even by 1 meter, let alone kidnap. The only problem was the local people who could get too close. After creating a secure perimeter and posting security, he closed himself in his makeshift office and drank coffee. He served in the US Navy. Since his country was helping in the fight against the Kaiju, he was assigned to this mission. He was fine.

"Sir! You're getting a call from headquarters." The assistant's voice destroyed the brigadier-general's moment of peace. Handing the phone to his comander, he hurriedly left.

"The Brigadier General is listening!" Picking up the phone, our slacker introduced himself.

"Good afternoon, this is Admiral Johnson, Commander of the US Navy's West Coast Fleet." A stern voice sounded on the phone. "Attention! According to the operational mission given to us by US president, your job is to protect the Kaiju's body from the Turtle. He must not eat it. Did you hear the order? Save the sample for research!" The connection was cut off at that point, leaving no opportunity to challenge this order.

There was silence in the room. "What is this, some kind of joke? How shold I do it?" The officer's face turned white and his legs bowed, and he sat down in his chair. In one moment, his easy life turned into a nightmare in which he remained alive while the great Turtle slept.

POV: Gamera

The morning rays brought Gamera back to consciousness. Slowly opening his eyes, he saw a bright sun rising on the horizon. The sound of helicopters immediately caught his attention and he raised his head to look. It lay in the middle of a dense tropical forest, and not far from it was a small road with houses along it - a typical view of tropical countries in East Asia.

Little by little, Gamera rose from the ground. His wounds were very painful, but not bleeding - the regeneration had done its job while he rested. Trying not to make sudden movements, he turned to face the place of struggle. There he saw helicopters flying with tarps attached to them. "What do they do?" The sight of helicopters flying with cloths attached to them puzzled Gamera. But after a moment he realized everything - they were covering Kaiju's body with a tarp.

Half of the Kaiju were already covered. This tarpaulin was attached to the ground with ropes so that the wind would not blow them away. People in overalls and with different colored searchlights, the purpose of which was dubious, were walking around the Kaiju. A 3-meter-high metal mesh fence was erected around the perimeter.

"WHAT? They want to steal my lunch out of me?" This fact puzzled and angered Gamera. He needed to eat and get stronger. He had already defeated two monsters, and army have no one's - so this was his reward that would give him strength for future battles. He needed this food. "Why does the military have the entire Kaiju body? They have a head and a brain, isn't that enough for them?" Indignantly, Gamera headed for his lunch.

At this time, people began to act in concert. All the workers knew what to do. They took searchlights and began to shine a red light on the big Turtle. The helicopters stopped over the Kaiju's body, not moving, showing their intention to stay there no matter what. People ran and waved their hands from side to side. Someone took the microphone and shouted something into it. The message was clear - do not approach!

Gamera, to put it mildly, was shocked. It was impudence of the highest order! They didn't help him fight at all, and now they want to take away from him the little thing that he considered his own (in fact, it was the only thing that he considered his own, he had nothing else).

He continued his movement. Gamera stepped heavily on the 3-meter fence, pressing it to the ground. As a result of this stomping, the earth trembled, which threw people half a meter into the air, and they all fell to the ground, confused and frightened. There were still a few steps left to the goal, but helicopters blocked his way.

For a moment, everyone stopped, not wanting to give way. "What do you want? Why are you standing in my way? Why do you need this Kaiju?" Perseverance made by people forced ask themselves questions. Maybe he didn't know something? Maybe they need Kaiju bones to build the Jaegers? He leaves them the bones at the end, so it's unlikely.

Not finding answers to his questions, Gamera decided to scare people away by shouting. Gathering air in his lungs, he growled.

ROOOOAAAAARR!

As a result, the helicopters flew in different directions. Some of them were blown away by the jet of air, and some helicopters were driven away by the pilots themselves, frightened by the roar. Except for one helicopter. The pilot bravely held his machine and continued to hover stubbornly over the Kaiju carcass; with his screws, he prevented the large turtle from approaching. Inspired by this act, the rest of the pilots returned to formation.

POV: Brigadier General

The task set before him was almost impossible. "It is impossible!" - the only thing he could think about. Despite his despair, he decided to do what he could. After consulting with colleagues, they came up with several ideas that could be implemented. It took time to get ready, but Tortoise slept soundly, so they could make it by morning.

The most dangerous work was the rotorcraft pilots. They were entrusted with the main role in their plan. With their screws, they could physically block access to the Kaiju's body. It was very dangerous, and he could not delegate this task to his subordinates. Being an experienced pilot himself, he decided to join a pilot group.

"It's okay! It's okay! We haven't fallen yet!" the brigadier-general reassured himself. After the roar of the beast, he thought he was going to die, but so far nothing happened. He was doing pretty well with the wind flow, and the constant reminders that he was still alive reassured him. He could have given up on the task without putting his life in danger, but he didn't. The reason was the sight of destroyed cities in his mind. He knew that if the leadership gave such a task, then it was important, so important that the leadership was actually asking to sacrifice their lives. That's why he didn't back down. "We really need this, back off please," he said as he continued hovering in front of the giant.

POV: Gamera

He could not retreat, or rather, he did not want to. He was afraid to fight a Kaiju, especially as the weaker one. With a propensity for mutations and development, he was given the opportunity to take fate into his own hands and overcome fear. To give up development is like losing the tool to fight the fear that was born in him. He almost died twice and it scared him.

Gamera continued to press with small steps, moving forward. But the helicopter hovering so annoyingly in front of him did not retreat. At one point, the helicopter's propellers hit Gamera's chest. The metal bent, sending out bright sparks, and the helicopter lost control. He quickly flew to the side and began to fall on the trees. It was a transport helicopter and it did not have an ejection system. The pilot was falling to the ground along with his helicopter.

The trees that were on the way began to break and crack. Dust and leaves flew to the side as the damaged propellers struggled to stabilize the machine. The helicopter hit the ground with a loud crash. Fortunately, there was no fire. Before starting the mission, the commanding officer was ordered to drain the kerosene from the tanks, leaving only the minimum for a short flight. This made it possible to avoid an explosion in the event of an accident - this decision saved the life of one pilot today.

Gamera looked at the scene of the accident, not knowing what to do. He was shocked by the courage of the pilot and his accident. "Alright! I don't know why you want to take the Kaiju so hard, but I'm not going to kill you for lunch." He did not know if the pilot survived, but he did not want to repeat this situation. He had no intention of staying here any longer, so he went back to the ocean, the same way he had come.
