18 After the Battle

"I almost died again." With my hands pressed to the place where I was stabbed, I slowly sat down on a hill not far from our fight. "It hurts so much! Aw..." Opening my mouth, I spat out a mouthful of blood. I don't know if he pierced my stomach, but such a long spike must have damaged some organs. Breathing heavily and moaning in pain, I tried to calm myself down.

Everything that happened during the fight resembled a battle strategy. "Obviously, the Kaiju ignored me on purpose and made a surprise attack. Also, his spike was specially designed against me. If I had my old turtle form and hid in a shell, then I would have just been stuffed with holes. With such a long spike, he would have easily gotten me."

It seems that I have already attracted the attention of the enemy, and now it is not known what to expect from them. It is necessary to be even more careful and not rush into battle without intelligence. The aliens knew from the first that I didn't want to fight in a city full of people, so they lured me. They are smart, so smart that they learned my habits and character after one fight. Now I'm a threat to be reckoned with."

Gamera sat there for quite some time. He couldn't start eating Kaiju with such injuries, so he decided to rest and wait for it to heal. Meanwhile, people around were bustling about and going about their business. After the second attack, people should understand that these are targeted attacks. They need to unite and adapt to the threat. "Hopefully, the first Jaeger will appear soon." Thinking this, he closed his eyes to take a nap.

POV: Conference

"This is the second attack in six months. What is going on here? Where are these creatures coming from?" The moderator in this room started asking questions immediately after the meeting started. People were tired of being overworked and the problems they faced. Specialists from all fields of science were gathered who could give at least some answers. Heads of intelligence services and ambassadors of other countries were present. It was a big gathering trying to figure out what was going on.

Such a meeting was held for the first time, as there was no attempt to share information between countries before. Politicians, academics, the military and other stakeholders sat tensely in their seats, waiting to be allowed to speak.

"These creatures attack the cities from the ocean. If we don't take into account the origin of the big turtle, the only place of residence of these creatures can only be the ocean," - the military man from the intelligence department spoke first. "The satellites did not record the moment of the 'birth' of these Kaiju or any anomalies on the planet. Taking into account the fact that every piece of land is under constant surveillance by satellites, we can say with confidence that these creatures could not have appeared on land and then go to the ocean. Nor have we recorded any anomalous construction of structures of the necessary size for the manufacture of such creatures by other countries."

After these words, a wave of discontent passed through the hall. Many ambassadors were outraged that their countries were subjected to investigation and espionage. "The only part of the planet where we do not have complete control is the ocean. But I must assure you that we are monitoring all ships on the planet and no abnormal activity has been detected either."

"Thanks for the report. Can anyone tell if it is even possible for humans to create something like this?" The host continued to ask questions.

A scientist biologist and geneticist was invited to speak. "Theoretically, it is possible, we already have a fairly advanced cloning technology. But! Creating something like this is practically impossible, we need many more centuries to achieve such results. Also, to conduct such a project, the resources of an entire country are needed, which could not go unnoticed."

"From your words it follows that these are creatures of natural origin? Do they live somewhere at the bottom of the ocean or in the voids deep underground?"

"I don't know that. We haven't deciphered the DNA of the Kaiju yet. And what we've learned suggests something unique to the planet," the scientist continued. "You see, there are very few blue-blooded creatures on Earth, and these creatures have blue blood because they have the dye hemocyanin in their blood. And in the case of the Kaiju, their blood is completely different. Nothing like it has ever been discovered."

"What about Turtle? We know his blood is red. What can you say about that?"

"Turtle blood has some similarities to our blood. Its blood cell structure and function are the same as ours, but it also contains compounds unknown to us. In terms of DNA, it is as complex as a Kaiju , if not more complicated. I think the big turtle has its own unique origins. Although its biology is similar to ours, it is as foreign to our nature as the Kaiju."

"So what do you think of the origin of these creatures?"

"I don't think they are from Earth. Such large creatures could not have evolved outside the general line of development of organisms." After this statement, many people in the hall smiled. These words indicated the existence of extraterrestrials.

"If these creatures were created by aliens, why haven't we seen their spaceships?" One of the ambassadors present at the conference asked the question mockingly. But he was ignored. If so many people had not died, this theory would have been dismissed immediately. But now no one dared to completely ignore such a possibility.

"Okay, we can't reject this theory, but we can't fully accept it either. Since the attacks are coming from the ocean, I suggest that all countries direct their resources to research the ocean. Any objections or suggestions?" No one answered, so the presenter continued to ask important questions. "The next thing we wanted to find out is why our weapons are so ineffective? After pooling the resources of several countries, the Kaiju still failed to be destroyed. For 3 days, it wreaked havoc almost unhindered."

This time another scientist who was attending the conference on the recommendation of the military answered. "We were able to find out that Kaiju's skin has the ability to absorb blasts and dissipate its kinetic energy."

"What about armor-piercing projectiles, why don't they work? It's leather, it can't be harder than steel," asked one of the attendees.

"We don't know how armor-piercing projectiles affect Kaiju's skin. The only thing we've learned is that Kaiju's bones are strong enough to repel them," the scientist replied.

"Why don't we know? It's been 6 months since the attack, during which time it was possible to conduct relevant research," asked the annoyed presenter.

"We don't have enough samples for the experiment. The turtle ate almost everything, leaving us only the bones and the head," said the scientist. After these words, the faces of the people in the hall changed strangely. Some found it funny, some didn't.

"We can't allow this to happen again, we need samples for research. I suggest trying to negotiate with the Turtle. He has shown his intelligence when interacting with humans in the past. But unfortunately, I have to admit that he is the only one who can fight successfully with the Kaiju. So if we can't come to an agreement with him, we'll have to back off. If there are objections, we'll listen to them," the host finished his offer.

"Excuse me, may I suggest something?" another scientist asked to speak. "We already know that explosions don't work well on Kaiju, but we've seen that hard punches and slashing done under heavy sustained pressure work well. The Turtles have no problem biting the Kaiju's head off near the city of Manila. It works. Why don't we try to clone a Turtle or make something big that will fight for us? Robotics is advancing pretty fast now, and if we join forces, we can create our own monsters."

"We can't clone, it's not possible yet," answered another scientist.

"Okay, let's explore the future of robotics." After that, the meeting continued for a long time. Tasks that were solved were immediately handed over to subordinates for their implementation.
