Jonathan's Threads

After returning to the main hall, not only had Chris disappeared, but Wesker was also nowhere to be found. As for Rebecca, she was also nowhere in sight, and there's no doubt that the noises echoing through the mansion were more than enough to alert anyone inside.

"Damn, I feel like things here are weirder than they seem, and something we're not aware of is happening."

Jill Valentine investigated, but found nothing. Both of them looked at Jonathan with suspicion, who was calmly sitting on a chair.

According to what they had heard, he was an employee stationed here. What happened here could greatly affect the image of the Umbrella Corporation.

Jonathan also knew that it was normal for them to be suspicious even if he had told them everything, so he just looked around and then focused on the weapons that Barry and Valentine had.

Barry frowned and said in a deep voice, "There's not much we can do; let's go look for him separately."

After speaking, he looked at Jonathan as if considering what to do with what he said.

Jonathan tilted his head slightly and told him very directly, "Don't keep looking at me like that; I don't know what the hell is happening here. I'm in the same damn situation as you and the team you came here with. I just offered to help you find out what's happening in this place and stop it in time. If it can't be stopped, I fear the infection could spread to the city."

Barry closed his eyes and after a while said, "I really want to believe you, but what you're saying makes you sound like an innocent employee who has absolutely nothing to do with what's happening. If you want to do something, then investigate with me."

"What you're saying makes sense, but going separately is not a good idea... Have you seen the corpse of the Bravo team agent? If we go alone, we might be ambushed by much more dangerous things than simple zombie dogs or infected individuals." Jonathan sharpened his tone and said, "It's better to go together. Take a weapon from the bag and make sure to look both on the ceiling and in the smallest corners you find."

To ensure their survival and be sure that he could survive while exploring the mansion, Jonathan shared his ideas, hoping that the two of them would accept. If he goes with two experienced people as before, his survival could be much better as they would have six eyes looking in all directions.

Billy was no longer with him, and Rebecca seemed to have continued on her own path. Considering everything that is about to happen, it is much better if the three of them go together while exploring the mansion.

Jill Valentine frowned when Jonathan spoke about the death of one of their colleagues so casually, especially considering that some of her closest companions had died not long ago.

"That would be smarter..."

"We'll cover less ground..." Barry disagreed with this proposal.

"But still, we can cover each other's backs. If we go as three, we might find something as long as we cover more distance." Jill Valentine had confidence in her skills and knew that if Jonathan planned something, she could easily neutralize it.

"We can be close but not too close; that could help us cover more distance and protect ourselves if something requiring our help comes up." Jonathan smiled subtly, having avoided the issue with his proposal.

Barry wanted to dissuade him, but when he saw that Jill agreed, he said nothing to refuse and pointed, "I'll go ahead; be careful to follow me and pay attention to details."

After finishing speaking, Barry looked at Jonathan with deep meaning.

Jonathan and Jill naturally noticed this look, but Jill thought that Barry simply suspected the investigator they had encountered too much.

"Aren't you taking a weapon?" Jonathan asked with a subtle smile.

"It's not necessary..." Barry said as he subtly advanced down a corridor.

"Take this rifle, Miss Valentine; there are truly large monsters that we'll have to overcome if we encounter them." Jonathan didn't wait for her to refuse; he immediately took an assault rifle and gave it to Valentine, who would be his greatest point of trust.

"What will you do, Barry?" Jonathan thought as he looked at Barry's back, a mystery to his future plans.

In the original story, Albert Wesker blackmailed Barry using his family as bait to carry out his dirty work. Barry began eliminating all evidence involving Wesker and led Jill into traps with the intention of killing her.

After numerous events, Jill and Barry enter the experimental laboratory, where Wesker is, and upon awakening the Tyrant T-002, it pierces him with its claws. In a courageous move, Barry saves Jill from the approaching Tyrant, which, with an unfortunate accident, escapes and goes after the remaining S.T.A.R.S members.

It can be said that Barry is not evil, but with Jonathan's proposal, he might become the new target of Mr. Barry, so he should be careful about anything he might want to do to him. If he has evidence that Barry wants to kill him, even if he's just a puppet of Wesker, he will kill him.

"If we get separated, we'll meet again in the main hall..." Jonathan murmured as he slung the backpack with the remaining weapons over his back.

"¡Good!"

After speaking, the three separated, but not entirely, as they were about six to seven meters apart.

Jonathan wasn't a fool, so he didn't distance himself much from Jill Valentine, who should be able to survive the events that will unfold in this mansion from now on without much difficulty.

The dim light made the surroundings appear extremely ominous.

On the corner sofa of the room he entered, there was another corpse. This was Kenneth's corpse, who was caught off guard by a zombie and ended up bitten on the neck.

"A real shame..." Jonathan murmured, thinking that he could have prevented many deaths if he hadn't taken the route where he met Rebecca.

"Do you really care about his death?" Rebecca, who had been monitoring Jonathan's movements, looked at him from the doorway with a calm expression.

"My answer is no, but it's a shame he died even if his existence doesn't matter to me... Nobody deserves to die at the hands of those things, not any more than you or I deserve to die at the hands of these things." Jonathan turned around; he wasn't lying when he said this, so his words were very genuine.

"Rebecca will be devastated by his death. He was a rookie when it came to weapons, but he got along with everyone..." Jill said with an increasingly somber look. It was definitely a good idea to go together.

Just as he was about to say something, Jonathan, with his keen ears, heard a growl coming from behind him. After turning around, he saw a zombie approaching from his back.

"There's one in the distance. Do we kill it with a gunshot or do we do it quietly?" Jonathan asked with a slight suspicion.

"I'll take care of it..." Jill said as she held a long knife in her hand. Approaching quickly, she swiftly moved her knife and pierced the forehead of the infected, killing it before it had the chance to do anything.
