Chapter 1Chapter 1: Endless Regret Part 1

Chapter 1: Endless Regret Part 1

"Fei Fei...Why?" Lu Chen hoarsely said as he fell to his knees, holding onto the bloody wound on his stomach. His voice quivered in disbelief at his wife's betrayal.

Her crystal-like black eyes shine through the darkness.

Her onyx eyes shined in the dark. A peerless porcelain white face devoid of any impurities. Lu Chen's wife, Liu Fei Fei, was a goddess. Just by standing anywhere, she would make the area seem like world-class artwork.

The two were childhood friends, arranged to be married to each other by their families. When Lu Chen heard about this arrangement, he was over the moon.

He loved Liu Fei Fei ever since he was a child.

Lu Chen swore he wouldn't let his wife suffer and that every day would be the happiest day of her life. And that he did. Every single day, whatever she wanted, he would do it.

Some orders were nearly impossible to accomplish. But Lu Chen would find some way to accomplish Liu Fei Fei's demands.

Each and every time, Lu Chen would tell her about accomplishing it. He had a look of longing. Lu Chen wanted to be praised by the woman he adored, but the only thing she said to him was,

"Oh. Is that so." And what she gave him was an indifferent gaze. The gaze of indifference: displaying no ounce of compassion or love.

Even now, she showed no guilt or remorse as she held onto the knife that stabbed Lu Chen's stomach.

Lu Chen slowly got up from his knees and placed one hand on her shoulder, "Fei Fei, I love you more than anything. I know that you didn't like marrying me in the beginning. But aren't there any feelings?"

Yet, no response.

A slow sense of thread burrowed into his heart. Tears formed in his eyes as he continued, "We've been together since we were kids. How could you do this to me?"

When Lu Chen brought up their history together, Liu Fei Fei's expression finally changed. That indifference turned to coldness as she glared at Lu Chen. She slapped his hand off as if it was a fly.

From her gaze, Lu Chen was stunned by Liu Fei Fei's expression,

"Lu Chen, let me ask you; when have you ever loved me?" Her statement was cold as ice, devoid of any emotion.

"Fei Fei! What do you mean?! I loved you ever since we were kids!" Lu Chen roared. More tears trickled down. It mixed with the blood he coughed out.

How could she doubt my love for her?! Lu Chen was in disbelief. The love of his life didn't realize how much she meant to him.

Liu Fei Fei chuckled at the baffled Lu Chen, "Love me? You forced me into this marriage, don't you remember?!" She remembered how Lu Chen threatened to kill himself if she didn't marry him.

Liu Fei Fei declared, "That isn't love. It's an obsession. You're a sick person!"

Her words pierced Lu Chen's heart.

"Hic...No...Hic...I don't believe it."

Liu Fei Fei continued, "Accept reality. I never slept with you in our eight years of marriage. I will never show you my affection." The two slept in different rooms, much less in separate beds.

Lu Chen wanted to continue, but all he saw were her hollow eyes, devoid of emotion or warmth. The same dull eyes she had given him throughout their years of marriage.

It had clicked for Lu Chen. He didn't want to believe it was true. But he was forced to now. Liu Fei Fei's heart has no ounce of love for him.

As Lu Chen processed this thought, a figure walked through the front door.

I read this and all I can say is the MC isnt developed. He is supposed to be a grown man that was killed by his lover and got a second chance. but instead he acts like a kid, and not some *****. He seems more like a pre****. no hint of maturity. And theres no proper planning of what to do [ he has his goals of wanting to protect family, thats there ] but the actual execution isnt. this should be explored. He hasnt made any plans on that and rather focuses on his school life. And the MC is a mental retard or atleast denser than a neutron star. 8 yrs of marriage, wife never slept with him and he never got the hint that she didnt even like him, even in his death he said I though u loved me, didnt realise she hated him after she shot him [ what happens in story- unless changed ] And this isnt some **** thing ,,,no they are mature adults and MC dosnt have any mental illness. so he is just stupid. this cant even be passed off as disillusion of a yandere lover cause if she disliked the MC this much why the fk wouldnt u not notice? for 8 yrs? does not make sense. suggestion.. instead of focusing on the the social life, etc focus on the MC himself and his actual planning and execution and use of future knowledge to do things and show this. the planning, execution, process, etc. And try to mature the MC. he honestly feels like some pre t.een rather than an *****. the face slapping moments and him feeling better than kids all way younger than him makes more apparent. I read this couple months ago here...same author? **: that story had a pretty stupid moment where no one recognized him after he cut his hair. and it was soo exaggerated and focused on. the couple chps after the hair cut were all about the people not realizing its him or chicks getting wet over him. so forced. Hair cuts change people , definitely agree....but to this extent where the mother, father and brother dosnt realize? so stupid [ and this is why I remember this bk and am asking whether u are the same author, if u are, do avoid this moment ] - *

Writing quality: third grade. The author doesn't know anything at all about English, and it shows. They constantly misuse punctuation marks, have no clue of the difference between your and you're, the language used is basic, and it's littered with typos and grammar errors. 2/5 Update stability: no clue, but giving it a 1/5 because this abomination deserves a low overall rating. Story development: missing. As of chapter 89, nothing of any note has happened except for the absolute worst examples of tropes. I rate this a 1/5 and would rate it lower if it was possible. My actual rating in this category would easily be a zero. Character design: the worst. I haven't seen dumber characters on this entire platform, and considering I've seen literally hundreds of novels on the Webnovel platform, that's truly saying something. The main character's brain could be used to forge Mjolnir, the best friend is the most annoying combination of best friend tropes, the ex-wife is irredeemably stupid, and... well, everyone is the dumbest version of their particular collections of cliches that it's possible to be. 1/5 and I would recommend to this author in particular that they keep their day job, because being an author is just something they shouldn't do. World background: abysmal. The bog standard modern-day face slapping novel, but the absolute worst version of that in every category. 1/5 Overall: I had low expectations but was somehow still disappointed. This showed up in my WN weekly recommendations for some unknown reason (someone probably sold their soul to the devil), and I started reading it solely because the chapters weren't locked. I regret it and wish I could light the brain cells containing the memory of this failed abortion on fire and burn them to complete and utter nonexistence. I regret very little about my life so far, but reading 89 chapters of this garbage excuse for a novel is one of those rare regrets. Author, I hope that you have to answer every seventh question you're asked with the phrase "in my butt" for the next four and a half years.
