It wasn't the reveal, it was how author presented it. It would make sense to tell John Impact his origin to establish connection and tag along. But the way it played out was not just 'unrealistic', it was downright unbelievable. It made no sense!

oh good sir trying to play (i'm differenty) bs? dotell me what good there is when the mc tolds others that their world is a mere fragments of imagenary of some strangers and he *peeked* at their whole-part of life on his past life other than giving them existing crisis? it's one of the most stupid things to do and had more bad than good to his *friends*. keeping it to himself doesn't mean that he is being evil or selfish or whatever you bunch of differenties tend to point at...it's merely gives a special kind of feeling to the character and us readers. i mean he can use the knowledge to help them without going everywhere blabbering how their whole life is a mere game he played at home. so ya no offense but yours and the brother comment above you just show how bad some people try to show how they ain't following the shepherd as you said.
