If you like a story in which all characters AREN'T complete trash, this definitely isn't the novel for you. Author seems to get enjoyment in having control and power over how much he can make the 'MC' suffer. The entirety of the novel goes like this -> MC lacks information -> MC encounters an arrogant/scheming character/group -> Those people/group tries to walk over the MC and take advantage of him -> Makes enemies with major group or important individual (through no fault of his own -> MC gets chased/almost killed -> MC gets power up. Not to mention that every area he enters he is almost immediately taken captive/forced to do something stupid. His only parent (father) is supposedly very powerful from a big family yet just left his son without ANY PREPARATION for essentially an apocalypse. The world he came from was UNIFIED, yet his grandfather (THE EMPEROR) encourages everyone to chase/KILL his grandson "for his own benefit". Even to the last chapter I read, everything I read is exactly like this...just bigger enemies and more complicated schemes. Unless you are completely masochistic or sadistic (like watching the MC suffer throughout his entire life) I suggest NOT picking up this novel. Waste of time and effort.

"A Will Eternal" Why? Seriously. The MC in that web novel is just plain autistic. He's basically Steve Urkel (for anyone over 30 ;)), in that he constantly fucks shit up, then wonders why people get pissed at him. It's especially annoying because, out of the hundreds of Xianxia stories I've tried to read, A Will Eternal is the one that comes closest to having an actually good reason for the MC to cultivate in perpetuity (he wants to live forever).

I always thought I was the only one who felt this way because no one outside of myself would ever leave comments about this kind of stuff on the LNs that I read like this. I'm glade I'm not the only one who can see how bad this kind of thing really is.

Veinydique:I remember the time when I was reading Against The Gods which had a different formula but was essentially the same. These types of novels just make me want to flip tables in rage. But relatively new readers are suckers for these novels.

Renegade Immortal is one of the absolute best cultivation novels out there but the MC suffers so much :(
Keeper_everwood:Yeah...thanks for the review. Novels were the MC is always struggling for survival really wears me out. I've read Against the Gods and a couple more in this trope. They were entertaining novels but oh boy....did i self-torture myself to go through the stress of reading those chapter.
exactly what I thought, there is no controlled pace in this story, it's all just continuous action and trying to continuously climax without taking a breather, you just get tired and want the mc to calm down, look around and take things in, but that doesn't seem to be possible in this novel even 600+ chapters into the novel.

The second coming of gluttony isn't it the novel with one of the worst MCs that act like a naive Japanese isekai protagonist despite being like over 20 and being a former alcoholic gambling addict? If it is I dropped it because of the MC
