So the premise of the story is pretty good. You know why the MC is unique and what his goals are right from the beginning. My problem with it is how xianxia it is. I mean seriously killing intent pressuring him? It’s one piece, only conquerors haki should be able to do that. Also, using poison is dishonorable according to the family murdering slaver pirate? Seriously? If you are okay with the cultivation work type writing then you will love the story. If not, well then you are like me.

LIKEI don't necessarily hate cultivation settings. But they have to be done right. It seems likely from what you said, that this is not. Try reading WMW or Age of Adepts some time. Cultivation doesn't have to be shit, it just usually is these days. Because everyone gives all the BS tropes a free pass, no matter how badly they fit.
The problem is the setting, using xianxia tropes in a Japanese novel just doesn't work, there's some weird af Naruto novel with ancient cultivator inheritence, qi godchakra and the dao in it, when it shows up it just feels and reads wrong. (That novel even had all the ninjas stop wearing their outfits and started dressing in robes and flying on swords too.) So far this novel isn't too bad with the xianxia tropes but when they show up, it's very noticeable and full of cringe. (The very first sentence in chapter 1 of this novel is full of xianxia vibe for instance.)
