You know, when i see harem fanfic with Same damn mc every time, I ask the same question. Is it all? Like his character don't exist, mc doesn't do anything and no change for Canon is made. Is it all what you got? But here I see at least something, at least villain mc. And yes, that is a character. Because I don't even know how to describe harem fanfic mc of all other works... Like Japanese beta male? Something like this.

Harem novels and villain MCs already became the new cliche, people just aren't tired of it yet. You can legit make a whole novel whose sole purpose is the MC making a harem and having fun times with girls, and still have it on the top 5. Same for evil mcs, just saying the MC is evil is normally enough to attract people. I'm really tired of 90% of the novels on here having the MC being extra evil for no reason, and complaining when the MC isn't ruthless no matter the kind of story.
Tbh there are two extreme sides. But evil mcs make way more sense than those delusional self righteous hypocritical mcs.and harem is like a huge part of novels. It would never die the same to evil mcs as long mcs like naruto exist

I wouldn't say evil mcs here make way more sense because most of the time they aren't being evil for their own benefit or other reason, they literally just do it to look cool for their readers or for no real reason. It would be interesting if it happened once as it would make a unique MC, but when it becomes the norm it makes people quickly get tired of it. Just like how Japanese protagonists are most of the time goody two shoes, original novel protagonists are 90% of the time mindless psycopaths This is just swapping one cliche for another, I don't really like it that much.
