Chapter 26

Koa left the Adventurer's building after his discussion with Lily. Take her consideration will not be happening though because Koa would like to complete the Quest soon rather than later, also he is not tired yet. Koa was heading straight towards the gate to leave.

Upon arriving at the gate, he saw that there were main city Guards on the walls looking outward. Koa walked to the gate and was about to walk out when he was stopped by one the guards.

"I recommend that you wait until morning." Guard

"I have heard that before, but I would like to finish my quest soon rather than later." Koa

"I know how you must feel but going out at night is a very dangerous thing. There is a possibility that you could get hurt and we won't be able to help you." Guard sternly replied.

"Be that ad it may but I am still determined to go." Koa

"Well, I cant force you to stop but I will wish you luck. If you are in danger try to run to the city gate." Guard

After the guard said his piece he turned and left Koa heading towards the barracks. Once arriving at the barracks, he went to the mess hall. A few other guards saw his complicated face.

"What's wrong with you Jacky. You look gloomier than usual; did you get rejected by a girl." The other guard said while chuckling.

"what?. Ahh no. it is the adventurer's the new ones are very difficult to get through. They think because they passed the test to become one that they are almost invincible. But in reality we get reports of their corpses within the next few days. It's just sad to see them go and die not accomplishing anything. That and this city is with a dark zone, so when night fall comes it is like a nightmare when you are not within city walls." Jacky

"Oh yeah that's right you were an adventurer for a quite some time before you retired. Now you are a city guard trying to warn people of what is to come. Why did you retire again you said you were pretty strong." Guard.

"Well, I was strong, but my team was as strong as me. I was hopeless to help them when they needed me. I took two team at night, but both were slaughtered without care and I was barely able to survive. Those damned Shade Jackels we never stood a chance their ability to see at night and hide nest. They always patrolled the area outside the city where the Helget flower grow. I haven't heard anyone that survived when they went to try to remove the nest. They only ended up as corpses in the field of Helget." Jacky

"Couldn't we just have them get rid of the nest during the day? They are nocturnal so they should be sluggish." The other Guard

"During the day so you think that I would gone during the night if we didn't have to. The Shade Jackels have an ability to hide the entrance to the nest during the day and it not an illusion the entrance becomes a solid surface just like a rock or stone." Jacky

"Wouldn't it be problem if there was to many of them?" a young Guard asked.

"Yes. But luckily we have a bounty on Shade Jackel corpses to help limit them. They also apparently have low birth rate; they are one of the only of the Jackels that can't give birth to litters they only give birth to single pup. This makes to very tight as a pack though if someone kills one they have made sure that it is alone, or they would be remembered by the pack. Their grudges are life long, trust me that is why my second party died, because they remembered me and started attacking. At the price of my party was given, to let me live and I regret it my best friend died. He had a child on the way, to make it up to him I give half of everything I make to his family." -Jacky

"oh I'm sorry Jacky I didn't know." The young Guard said.

As the guards of the city were talking and going into adept conversations; Koa was almost at the area where Helget was growing. The forest was lively with the sounds of bugs, with the light of the moon it was not to complicated to see, but with Koa and his increase in his dexterity helped him see better without having to strain his eyes. After expiring being in a forest for a bit of time and experience Koa noticed a few marks on the lower ended of the trees. These were territory markings, when noticing this Koa decided to take a slower approach and see the strengths of the beasts in the territory.

Koa was cautious because he had ignored makings before and wound up getting in a large fight with goblins. Luckily he came out in one piece thanks the his healing from the Blood Essence. After this encounter Koa became more vigilant when it came to searching in areas and would only fight if the pathway were blocked by those territories.

Koa was not excited to get his quest done now because he would have to pass through this territory and depending on what is there would be dangerous to him. After an hour of scoping out the territory Koa had found out what was owning this area it was a strange type of Jackel.

"These beasts are very observant of their area, almost killing anything that tries to challenge or enters the area. If I am lucky they will get distracted by another animal and I can slip by and get those plants. If am not I will be hard pressed to kill to many of them." Koa said
