What do the words Third-Rate Villain mean? Doesn't every human being possess their own background story? Just because a game hadn't explored one's background story, does it mean those characters are irrelevant? In a world where video games come to life, Astron Natusalune is introduced as a seemingly insignificant character—a third-rate villain with a minor role. However, this ordinary facade belies a haunting past that has shaped Astron into the vengeful soul he has become. Someone who would do everything for his vengeance. What will occur if Astron's soul combines with one from Earth? Will he relinquish his position as a third-rate villain, or will he forge a new path? Driven by a singular purpose—to avenge his sister's tragic death and bring justice to a cruel world—Astron embarks on a transformative journey. Witness the journey of the Astron as the young boy experiences a profound shift in his own values as he witnesses firsthand the consequences of unchecked vengeance and the true complexities of morality. -----------------------------------0------------------------------------ Chapter length 1750-2500 At least one chapter a day. Chapter 1Chapter 0.1 - Prologue

/TAP/ /TAP/ /TAP/

In the heart of a forgotten town, where shadows danced along crumbling alleyways, the souls of the past whispered tales of sorrow and redemption.

The rain was pouring down as the heavy atmosphere filled the environment.

The sound of someone running could be heard as the steps clashed with the beads of water formed over the surface.

/HOWL/

The storm veiled at night. But that wasn't enough to stop the silhouette from running. Her face was covered with a cloak to protect her from the heavy rain.

And after a round of walking in the rain, the silhouette finally reached a hut.

/CREAK/

Instantly opening the door without knocking, the silhouette entered the hut like she was in a hurry.

The door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit room occupied by an old woman, her eyes closed as if in deep meditation.

"You are here," a raspy voice resonated from the depths of the old woman's throat, her words carrying an otherworldly aura that sent shivers down the girl's spine.

/TAP/ /TAP/

The girl approached cautiously, her wet cloak dripping onto the wooden floor as she stood before the seer. Her eyes, filled with a mixture of hope and desperation, searched the elderly woman's face for answers.

"I seek guidance, wise one," the girl spoke, her voice trembling slightly with a blend of trepidation and anticipation. "The moon of the Spirit world is about to align with the moon of the Real world. I need to know what lies ahead, what destiny has in store for me."

The flickering candlelight in the room cast dancing shadows upon her face, accentuating her anxiety.

The old woman raised her hands as she pointed to the sky. "So, the time has come…. The time for the destiny to unfold…. The twins of the moon are about to be born…" As her words echoed inside the hut, the girl flinched and waited.

Waited for her to continue her words.

"However, a harsh reality awaits them. A harsh destiny that no one but one shall bear." She stopped emphasizing her words. "One of them will close their eyes to this world, and the other one will always wish he was the one that would close his eyes." The woman spoke, her hands moving in the air, pointing towards the girl.

"And, you, my child. You will be the guide to the one remaining. The fate of our world will be in your hands when the time comes, my child. It will be at the hands of you… Whether you will be able to guide the weapon under the guise of a child to the light, or you will fail your destiny."

As the words of the seer echoed inside the room, the girl's hands trembled, absorbing the gravity of her role.

"The one that was left…." The girl murmured, her voice barely audible. "What must I do? How can I ensure that he finds the light?" As the words poured from her trembling lips, anxiety gripped her heart, tightening its hold with every beat.

"You can't ensure anything," the seer's voice carried the weight of ancient wisdom. "Destiny is elusive, its path winding and uncertain. It is never meant to be absolute, for it is woven from the threads of choice and circumstance."

The girl's shoulders slumped, a heavy sigh escaping her lips. "Then-"

"However," the seer's voice held a glimmer of hope, a spark of guidance amidst the vast expanse of uncertainty. "There is only one thing I shall say to you, dear child."

"You must embark on a journey, my child," the seer spoke, her voice resonating with an otherworldly clarity. "Seeking out the place where the wisdom and power spoke more than anything else. Where the ones with the heaviest destinies gather….. There, the one in destiny will come towards you on his own…."

Hearing this girl, the girl's eyes shone once again as color returned to her skin.

"Remember, my child, that your compassion will be your greatest weapon and shield. Nurture it, let it guide your actions, and let it kindle the flames of hope within those who have lost their way. Never lose your way on the path of pride."

As the seer's last words of warning settled in her heart, the girl felt a surge of determination coursing through her veins.

"The place of knowledge and power…. My fated one… I will be there for you…." A small mumble left her mouth; she turned towards the seer.

With a final nod of gratitude, the girl turned to leave the seer's presence, her mind already filled with thoughts of the profound role she was destined to play. And as she stepped into the unknown, she carried within her the belief that her compassion would illuminate the path of the one who sought the light amidst the shadows of his destiny.

"Oh, my little one…. Hope you don't fail us….."

The chapters won't normally be this short, but the next one was going to be too long if I added the two together, thus I separated them.

the story is the typical weak to strong attempt, keyword attempt, because this genre usually tries to add in a sense of realness to it, thus the story either ends being really good or the lowest form of trash possible that makes it unreadable. The mc at the start is weaker than an average normal human on basically all parameters and he doesnt even have mana, yet despite being weaker than you and I he somehow managed to get in a school for super humans... how you may ask? no reason lol, he doesnt even have any sort of connection, money or academic ability, but its not like this author cares about logic, thus this story fails right at chapter 1. Anyways I didnt start reading this expecting a masterpiece so I preserved and turned a blind eye to all the stupidity and cliches right till (spoiler) the classic girl turned into a vampire arc cus vampires are cool and edgy, this arc was just too stupid and braindead to the point that I cant endure this torture anymore -_- in this arc the author went way out of his way to break the already almost non existent logic in this story, from mc letting villains injure him because a demon is seeing through them? although this was not an issue with the other villains who are even ranked higher, but if he didnt get injured the random vampire wouldnt have found his blood on the street to get a power up for by licking the blood that is somehow still fresh and get the power to turn magical girl into a vampire -_- summary: typical trash story that pretends to not be a trash story, so it doesnt offer any sort of enjoyment. And to the author if youre reading this please find another career this is really not it -_-

I read about 300 chapters. I just wanted to drop it multiple times throughout my reading, but I thought it will get better, so I hung around longer, but it didn't get better. ------------------- Here's the good parts of the story: - Author takes new approaches to the typical reincarnated into a game scenario. It's not just someone died and poof he's inside a game world. Also, a lot of events are properly thought out (no stealing opportunities, no utilizing future knowledge to steal from auction...etc. you know, the typical stuff you see in other works). - MC has a purpose and drive. He doesn't just want to exploit the game and get stronger for flimsy reasons. He an extreme revenge type of dude, which I like. - Characters have variety and each has a set personality and growth. ----------------------- Here's the problem with the story: - Main problem: Writing a lot of useless words and adding a lot of flowery words. Author might think that these set the atmosphere and make for nice writing, but honestly it's distracting and makes it over the top. especially when even characters talk in this over the top flowery language, like when professor Eleanor briefed students about the test. [Examples: "the rustling of leaves seems to whisper secrets and warnings" - "forming a chorus of anguish" - "a symphony of terror that pierced the darkness" - " thanks to the enhanced boots" - "this alone showed how much potential.." - "it was evident that.."....etc] All these are added in paragraphs of action disrupting the flow of battle, or when there's no combat, then it's just an attempt at using beautiful language, but it's just cringy and tiring to read. _________ Author could take a couple of points from korean novels, they don't add unnecessary expanding nor describe things in flowery words. ___________ - Another problem is that the story is dull and got more boring with each following arc. Honestly the first arc was the best one, despite the overly flowery words and cringy talks between characters, the story itself had a clear direction. The following arcs are bland. For example the latest arc I read, they went to phantoms land, however it didn't feel like there was a build up nor a climax, even the reward after everything was done was underplayed and felt boring despite the big power up. ____________ - Now my final problem with the story: It didn't feel like we went anywhere, the story almost feels stagnant, even though the timeline moved forward and the MC got stronger, I see no immediate goal in sight. Here's how things will unfold with this story: MC trains > gets stronger > gets shoved in event > fights something > gets power up > trains > event > power up.. .etc. That's how it happened in all 300 chapters and that's how it'll be going forward, it's bland and boring. Do you know why other stories with a similar set up are more appealing? It because characters have long term goals (which is present here "revenge") and they have short term goals. MC here doesn't have short term goals nor any desires. He hates demons with a passion, so it should be reasonable for him to have goals like to brutally scheme against anything demonic and go DOOM mode on them. But we don't see that, the dude just gets shoved into situations that have demons and he defeats them. Demons come to him, not the other way.

Apart from the negative comments below, I love this story. I enjoy the interactions between each character. The author doesn't introduce too many characters. The original story isn't a harem, so there's no NTR involving the MC. Irina doesn't even like Ethan, the original protagonist. She likes Victor, but as mentioned in the story, she never ends up with him in the original timeline, even after Julia rejects him. All the original main cast are childhood friends—Ethan, Lucas, Carl, Irina, Julia, Lilia—and they sort of view each other as siblings, so it's a bit odd for them to develop romantic feelings for one another. Even Ethan likes Jane. As others have mentioned, it's a typical weak-to-strong MC story. The MC starts out as a third-rate villain seeking revenge for his sister's death and becomes powerful through a pact with the devil. But thanks to the MC's memories from his life on Earth, he seeks power and revenge in a different way. Honestly, I prefer for the MC to end up with only Irina rather than the interactions between the MC and his senior, Maya, as well as the pure-hearted future saintess, Sylvie. Yeah, the MC has three potential romantic interests. The MC is a bit edgy but also a handsome man who is close his heart to the people around him at start of story. Irina is a strong, determined, and proud girl. They both have one similarity they don't like to obey others easily, which leads to them bickering and fighting. Throughout the story, they start to open up to each other and change each other for the better. Some criticism for the novel. I hope the author also develops the other main cast characters. Honestly, I also feel the story has problem with slow pace, and I think there are parts that could be cut. At the same time, I feel the character development for the MC, Irina, Maya, Sylvie, and Ethan is too fast. After reading almost 700 chapters, I thought it had been 1-2 years at the academy, but it’s only been one semester
