A Family of Friends

Edward was extremely dedicated to his glaring Cain didn't think he would literally spend the entire class trying to read their mind but that just gave Cain and Twig more ammo to mess with him. At the end of the day as they were followed closely by Edward. Although Alice liked that Edward shared her burden of seeing the future she thought it was funny seeing him squirm from not being able to read minds for the first time.

Getting to the rest of the Cullens Alice introduce Cain and Twig. Gesturing towards them like a big reveal she said. "This is Cain my new boyfriend and on his shoulder is the majestic Sir Twig." Twig followed her introduction with a flourish of his wings and a bow stunning all but Edward and Alice.

Cain just rubbed his forehead and introduced himself. "Hello I'm Cain Fennix and as she said Alice's new boyfriend. I hope to get along with all of you and become good friends." Towards the end he was looking at Jasper and Emmett. Cain always thought they were cool and wanted to try having them as friends. Noticing his glance they reached out and shook his hand while introducing themselves.

After all said and done they finally noticed staring holes in to Cain's back. Emmett couldn't resist asking. "Why does Edward look like someone just spat in his face." Finally looking away from Cain Edward said quietly enough so only the Cullens should be able to hear. "I can't read his or Alice's mind." Shocking all of them. Cain just snickered and responded. "And it's been driving Eddy here up the wall it's hilarious."

All but Alice looked at Cain dumbfounded. 'He could hear that and he knew Edward could read minds.' Seeing them look at them like that Cain chuckled again and said. "Who do you think put a block on Alice's mind so he couldn't read it he gives nobody any privacy it's creepy." Remembering the bowing bird and the fact Cain has fox ears and a tail that were still wrapped around Alice's arm they realized it's not so weird he knew they weren't human not to mention the fact Alice seemed extremely close with him.

Jasper at his moment also noticed his throat wasn't burning as much as before, like something was blocking the sent of humans and calming his thirst. Realizing it's because of the sent coming off Cain Jasper like him much more he had always struggled with his thirst and Cain made it easier for him. Noticing the fluctuations in emotion from Jasper, Cain smiled and nodded at him proving his theory.

Emmett spoke up at this time. "Ya sometimes his mind reading gets on my nerves because he never knows when to stop. Can you do the some on me it would be more fun to mess with him if he can't see it coming beforehand." Emmett quickly accepted Cain as a friend seeing he liked messing with Edward as well. Cain excited to have a human friend readily agreed and snapped his fingers placing one on all of them while thinking to himself. 'This is great I get to make friends and torture Edward at the same time this is a win win if I ever seen one.'

After chatting with the Cullens for a while they realized they were the only ones left in the parking lot confused about the lack of another car aside from theirs Chloe asked Cain. "Did you not drive to school today? Do you have someone coming to pick you up?" Looking around and seeing no other cars Cain understood why she asked and said. "Nah me and Twig flew here but I'm probably going to start driving here tomorrow."

Looking at Cain like he said something alien Rosalie asked. "Flew like in a helicopter or something." Cain laughed and said. "No I flew here as a bird." This confused them even more. Seeing this Cain just quickly turned into a bird and turned back quick enough to make sure only the Cullens could see it stunning them once again.

Alice looked Cain with smile on her face while hugging his arm. "Cool right he can turn in to a bunch of things he showed me during lunch." Thinking back to it she started petting his tail. Seeing her so happy to him off made him feel warm and started to rub his back as he continued. "Today I felt like stretching my wings a little so we flew. That reminds me do you want to go on a date tomorrow I'll show you something cool." He said turning to Alice and kissing her on the forehead.

She happily agreed and flung herself at him and wrapped her arms around his neck giving him a kiss. He knew she would be excited to hang out but he never thought she would be this excited. As she dangled off of his neck he kissed her back. After a few seconds they separated but didn't let go at each other as they stared into the others eyes.

After what seemed like a eternity they heard a cough looking over they saw all of the Cullens looking at them smilingly well almost all of them. Edward had already gone to sit in the car at some point brooding over the fact he couldn't experience his favorite pastime anymore. Cain embarrassed to no end however Alice still didn't let go and just stuck her tongue at them and said. "It's not like none of you don't do it as well it's almost a daily thing at home." This caused them to look away shyly knowing full and well she wasn't wrong.

Cain laughed at their reactions feeling much better. He looked at her and said. "I should get on the way if I take to much longer I'm sure my mom is going to start looking for me." Thinking of his mother although he was reluctant to leave Alice he was surprisingly looking forward to going home and seeing his mother. Alice was reluctant but understood his need to get home as she had heard the full true story of his childhood.

After a short flight home having fun with Twig along the way he approached his house only to see his mother on the porch waiting for him. He was excited and expectant but as he flew closer he realized something wasn't right. His mother seemed angry. Landing on the ground he approached her.

But before he even got 10ft from her she asked with skepticism and anger in her voice. "Who was that glued to you side for almost the entire day." And without missing a beat Twig said in a mater of fact tone. "That was Alice, Cain's new girlfriend she is awesome and thinks I look cool." As Twig said this Cain felt a chill down his spine.
