"Please sit down. Let's get introduced. I am the Chief of Services of the Anti-Slavery Division. Sector Long. My name is Maria," the woman introduced herself.
"My name is Kinwe. I am from the planet Twilight 7. Engineer. Our ship was taken by pirates two years ago. Can I contact my family?" The Little One held his hands out with his palms up in a begging gesture. 
"Not now. You must understand that the Grirad sector is dangerous at the moment. Orc scout ships are looking for us. We maintain a mode of cloak and silence. Let's be clear. You said you were an engineer. What specialty did you work in?" Maria asked in a quiet and tender voice. She knew that members of the twilight race did not smile. To show their teeth was to be aggressive.
The short-eared twilight man began to talk about his life. Lee listened attentively to the engineer and understood that this intelligent man would easily comply with the request to work for ten years on a new planet.
Three hours later, Maria already had four signed contracts for new employees with the company Long Production. Lee carefully and accurately followed the woman's orders and registered his company in the capital city of Ferin. He wasn't worried about leaving a trail. The main thing was that his company had paid all the mandatory registration fees and had the right to do business within the Alliance. 
No difficulties were encountered by the boy with the paperwork. Ferin looked at the little fool with a smile. Does the little human want to spend the credits? Fine! Make him feel like the owner of a company that can't do any serious business. No one will do business with a race of humans who live under the control of the Ferin race.
The new employees were well aware that the conditions of their service were very unpleasant. Ten years of high-paying work was a good thing. The restrictions on freedom didn't please anyone. But everyone was intimidated by the simple fact. 
Sector-level slaveholders are not a band of low-level pirates! Sentient upon release will be forced to tell about being captured as a slave and working in an orc mine. The orcs are brutal and have a frenzied temper. They will simply send a team of assassins to pacify the former slave forever. 
Isolation on a distant planet is a lifesaver. The company guarantees life and great credit earnings! Of course, all relatives of former slaves will receive a video message from the former slaves. Communication with relatives is not forbidden! But it will be careful and accurate communication. 
Nick scratched his bald head and shook his head when he recognized such living conditions for the aliens.
"These freeloaders will suck all the credit out of us! A hundred rotten cowards and bureaucrats! Lee, couldn't you have recruited tougher freaks? Why did you pick the weakest?" Nick was unhappy that his marmosets would have few dummies to beat.
"I picked the lighter ones," laughed the boy.
"The little slacker and weakling. Don't forget. You have class tonight and a set of new exercises. After dinner, I will finally build up the exercise room. At precisely six o'clock in the evening you must report for duty," ordered the sergeant.   
"Roger, sir," the boy answered clearly. He was not going to refuse to continue developing his skills.

Lee stared sadly at the information. He could only work on six sentient in a twenty-four-hour period! And there was no time to waste. It was impossible to bring troublemakers and rebels to the planet.
"Maria, let's change the communication style. Call out the most insolent cat. Yes! The most insolent and powerful ferin. That's the ringleader of the group of tailed ones," the boy pointed a finger at the ferin, who had already shown his claws several times.
"I see," the woman smiled. She knew the boy's problem. There is a price to pay for everything and mental magic wastes too much energy.
"Usagi, my girl, bring this sentient to us for a conversation," the woman asked.
"Maria-san, the sentient one will get a reliable escort now," nodded the blonde girl in the sailor suit.
A few minutes later, a brazen cat entered the room and looked at the humans in surprise.
"Bald worms? What are you doing here? Get out of the room, I want to talk to the ones who freed me from these green-skinned bald freaks," the cat hissed.
"I'm the one who freed you from the orcs," the boy knew at once who he was dealing with. He knew how to behave to gain the respect of the hunter tribe.
Lee walked up to the cat and punched him in the stomach without further words. Then the boy's hands grabbed the cat's ears and two knees to the face dotted the familiarity procedure.
Ferin fell to the floor. He hissed curses about tails tearing off and shaving the fur. The usual swear words of the usual brute of the ferin race.
Maria did not deny herself a demonstration of intent. The woman approached the cat and kicked the former slave several times. She disliked the ferin very much. Lee Long froze in horror and wanted to cover his little Lee with his hands between his legs. The spy didn't spare the brute.
A squeal and groan resounded throughout the cabin. The cat squirmed on the floor and shrank into a lump. He tried to cover his vulnerable spots.
"Usagi, little one, are you recording the negotiations?"
"Maria-san, the negotiations are being recorded according to protocol."
"Very well, I think the sergeant will like this material. His new thugs and dumb stormtroopers need an entertaining video," laughed the woman.
Lee shook his head.
Maria was very frightening to him sometimes!

The System is important, and it serves as the ultimate support for Lee Long's development. But I don't overload the book with descriptions of game statistics.
Chapter 75 begins part of the book in the genre of description of fights and adventures in the Game Locations with great use of game statistics and receiving artifacts and other useful trophies.

Bethina unpacked a little, then sat in an overstuffed chair to rest. She remembered when she'd first started to work there. It had been two years ago, starting her sophomore year of high school. Her father had been killed in the war, and her mother hadn't remarried. As a widow, there wasn't a lot of money, especially at Christmas, so that year so Bethina had decided to get a job to help out. 
The post office bulletin board had several advertisements tacked to it, including one that had been there for weeks: an advertisement for a nanny. The address was unfamiliar, so she'd copied it down and asked the post master. He'd blinked a few times, then said slowly, "It's that old plantation outside of town. I don't think you want to go there."
When she'd asked why, he'd simply told her that the place was bad luck. But, superstition wasn't enough to stop her.
Eddie was the one who'd given her a ride. He lived next door and had inherited his uncle's truck. Though they weren't close, they were friendly enough for favors. However, as Eddie parked in front of the massive stone mansion, he agreed with the post master. "There's something weird out here. The family never comes to town. They don't go to church, their kids don't go to school. I can't remember ever seeing anyone except for that guy with the mustache."
"Perhaps they go to a different town? There are plenty of explanations."
"Sure there are." He'd frowned. "You're sure you want to do this? I told you already that I have to run some errands, so I'll have to come back for you. That means you'll be on your own for a while."
"I'll be fine," she'd assured him as she opened the door. "What do you think they're going to do? Kill me?"
Eddies "guy with the mustache" had turned out to be Buford McClaren, and he was the one who'd interviewed Bethina. When she explained she was still in school, he rejected her, saying they preferred a live-in situation. She would have been on her way immediately, except Eddie hadn't returned. With nowhere to go, Buford had seated her on a bench in the hallway with a stern warning to stay put until her ride appeared. She'd done just that  it wasn't as if she'd had any plans to snoop, thank you very much.
The silent minutes had passed while she sat alone, wrapped tightly in her winter coat. The cavernous hallway was unheated, and outside the golden glow of evening was shifting to the purple of an early winter twilight. 
She'd wondered how much longer Eddie would be  maybe she shouldn't have been so quick to say it was all right for him to leave her. Naively, she'd assumed she'd ace the interview, and then be shown around, introduced to the family and the children; that there would be so much to do that Eddie would be stuck waiting on her. Instead the whole thing had lasted five minutes. She doubted he'd even made it back to town before she was dismissed.
That was when she'd met Alexander.
A small boy with black hair and dark eyes, he'd crept down the corridor in an exaggerated style, stopping now and then to listen, hand to his ear. She'd sat perfectly still, holding her breath as she watched, and he'd practically reached her before he'd noticed she was there. When he had, he'd jumped in the air, eyes wide, hand clamped over his mouth to muffle the squeal.
She'd offered him a smile and a nod of greeting. 
The boy had shuffled closer, and given her a good once over before he asked in a whisper, "Who are you?"
"I'm Bethina."
"I've never seen you before. What are you doing?"
"I'm waiting for my friend to pick me up. What are you doing?"
He'd looked left, then right, then leaned in closer to whisper, "I'm sneaking."
She'd tried to hide a smile. He was the most adorable thing she'd ever seen. His skin was so pale it was almost translucent, but it just made his dark eyes look even darker, and his lips even redder. 
"Where are you sneaking to?"
"Anywhere." He shrugged. "I sneaked out of bed early."
His words had thrown her. Out of bed? But it was nearly dinner time. She'd chosen to ignore that, and instead had said, "I think you mean snuck'. You snuck out of bed early."
"Oh. Yeah. I snuck out. So, when will your friend get here? Will it be soon?"
"I hope so. He had some errands to run in town, but they shouldn't take too long."
He'd climbed up on the bench next to her, wriggling as he settled in. "Then I'll wait with you, so you won't be lonely. My name's Alexander." 
She'd taken the offered hand, surprised at how cold it was. But then, the hallway probably wasn't the only room they didn't heat. If he'd been lurking all over the mansion, no wonder he'd be chilly. "I'm Bethina."
"Pleased to meet you. Do you know any games?"
Off the top of her head, she hadn't known anything, but she could always make something up. "Of course. What kind of game?"
"It has to be something we can play here, while we wait." He'd looked thoughtful. "Not I Spy. There's not enough stuff here in the hallway to spy."
"How about a story game?" He'd blinked at her, and she'd explained the rules  she would begin a story, and then stop and he would add to it, then stop, and she'd take over again, back and forth, until the story was at its end.
Alexander was quick on his feet, and his additions to the tale showed he had an education steeped in the classics. Many of his notions were antiquated, even the way he phrased his sentences sometimes felt old fashioned, but he was smart, clever, and easily amused. She'd thought what a pity it was that she wouldn't be able to work with him.
It was after they finished the story that Alexander asked if she was visiting one of the servants. 
"Oh, no. I came to interview for the nanny position."
"You mean to be my nanny?" His eyes had lit up. "That would be wonderful!"
She'd patted his knee, grateful for his confidence. "Yes, it would be, but I guess it won't work out because I can't move in here."
His excitement had flickered. "Why can't you?"
"Because I'm still in school and my mother would never allow it. Besides, I think they're hoping for an adult."
"You look like an adult to me."
"That's because you're a child. In a few years you'll be my age and you'll see."
Looking back now, it had been a cruel comment, but how could she have known at the time? Still, Alexander had taken it in stride. "So you don't want to be our nanny?"
She'd noticed the word our and wondered who the other children were. The interview had been pretty short, and Buford had given her no details. "That's not it. Mr. McClaren doesn't want to hire me."
"I could have Mother talk to him. I bet he'd change his mind, then."
"I doubt it." As the words left her mouth, she saw Eddie's headlights cut through the darkness and shine through the windows of the shadowy hallway. "My friend is here. I'd better go now. It was very nice to meet you, Alexander. I hope you get a wonderful nanny."
