Life has no shortage of cruelty and hardship. If the pain of living can be avoided, if one can escape the anguish that propels our limited existence forward, then what left is there? Conveniently, Henrietta cannot remember much of who she is or where she comes from. But, when you have nothing, you may as well move forward.  Plenty of people wish they could have a second chance at life. Henrietta doesn't know if she wanted such an opportunity to start over, but she's plenty relaxed enough not to worry about such things.

Henrietta Stone grew up in the Lithibanian forest where life was harsh, and surviving was harsher. She was getting along fine and genuinely enjoying life until she was taken by the people of the city, which was in the center of the 7 Rings of Life. What will happen when she must compete for a spot as a royal guard, or meet death for her failures? And what happens when she catches the attention of the three princes?

"Human life is limited. Every person will age, fall sick, and die. However, does anyone here know why we're mortal?"
Upon the platform, a nearly seventy-year-old professor spoke gradually, his voice echoing the large classroom due to its acoustics.
"Everyone knows that the unit of life begins with a single cell. Each of us here came into being as a tiny fertilized ovum that underwent cell division. 
"One cell becomes two, two becomes four, four becomes eight…"
Below the platform, Chen Chen propped up his chin with his left hand while his right hand twirled a rollerball pen. His eyes glazed over with boredom as he stared at the projection screen, daydreaming.
"Cells will undergo senescence and death as well. The newly divided cells replace the dead ones over and over. This is the secret to our unending growth.
"Even so, this cell fission isn't infinite.
"In 1965, Professor Hayflick of Stanford University discovered that human cells are unable to self-replicate over fifty-seven times. Every cell, upon its fifty-sixth replication, will die.
"It's as if there's a counter within each cell that determines when the cell would stop dividing and when humans would start to age…
"In theory, human cells can divide up to fifty-six times at most. By calculating the cycle of each cell division, we find that the limit of human life is at one hundred and twenty years. This theory is known as…"
"Clatter!"
Just as he was listening in fascination, Chen Chen's fingers slipped and the rollerball pen spun out of his grasp, falling under the desk.
Chen Chen immediately stooped over, feeling around the floor with one hand.
"Huh?"
When his head was below the desk, an unexpected glint of pitch-black light flashed before his eyes.
Whether it was possible for light to be black, Chen Chen truly did spot a flash of black light in that instant.
He looked over instinctively.
The item was long and pitch-black all over. It was wedged below the desk, trapped within a hidden groove.
Therefore, after Chen Chen had picked up his pen, he reached out and scratched that area.
With just a little bit of effort, there was a snapping sound and the black item was successfully pried loose.
"You there, burrowing under your desk, answer the question –"
Just then, the professor's voice suddenly rang out from the platform.
"Snicker!"
There was a burst of sniggers from his dormitory friends sitting behind.
Chen Chen hurriedly crawled out from under the desk, his face red with embarrassment.
He stared at the beaming professor, then glanced down at his textbook before stammering, "The Hay, Hayflick Limit?"
"Take your seat."
The professor wrung his hands and allowed Chen Chen to sit.
The lecture continued.
"At both ends of a DNA molecule is something called a 'telomere'. This component plays a vital role in cell division.
"It's responsible for keeping the chromosome intact. Each cell fission will shorten the telomere a little. When the telomeres are too short and thus unable to protect the gene structure, the cell would inhibit growth, stop replicating, and enter senescence."
"This is the Hayflick Limit."
With that, the professor turned around and quickly wrote "The Hayflick Limit" on the blackboard.
Chen Chen, who had just taken his seat, heaved a sigh of relief. While the professor was busy writing on the blackboard, Chen Chen swiftly glimpsed at the item in his hand. 
'Erm…'
In one glimpse, Chen Chen's interest was completely deflated.
It turned out that the extremely black item was nothing more than a USB drive.
Still, it was different from most USB drives. This one was much longer, about twelve or thirteen centimeters, and looked like a carbon rod.
Only its USB port revealed the truth – that it was merely a USB drive.
Other than this, the entire USB drive had no joints or cracks. It was pitch-black and had no mention of the brand name or storage space.
Nonetheless, seeing that it looked rather awesome, Chen Chen ended up stuffing the USB drive into his pocket. He would study it further in his dorm.
Currently, the professor was still lecturing. "With our current level of technology, it's impossible for cells to break past the Hayflick Limit but we could bypass this barrier through another method…" 
As he spoke, the professor wrote three words on the blackboard:
"The Immortal HeLa."
"Everyone must be thinking, if there's a way to prevent the telomeres from shortening, will our cells become immortal?
"The answer is – definitely!"
Under the words "The Immortal HeLa", the professor spiritedly added "The HeLa cell line".
"The HeLa cell line was derived in 1951 from a clump of cervical cancer cells, taken from a contributor named Henrietta Lacks.
"Researchers found that these cells collected from Lacks not only failed to die, they even showed signs of growth. Every twenty-four hours, the number of cells would double.
"Later, they discovered that these cells didn't die because of the tumor retrovirus that caused cervical cancer. This virus' gene was able to alter the lifespan 'switch' in ordinary cells, thereby creating immortal cells of unlimited growth.
"In the following years, HeLa cells were supplied to various research organizations across the Federation. They helped scientists achieve cell cloning and have also been used to investigate the effects of nuclear radiation on a human body. Moreover, they've been placed in a space-bound rocket, to study the growth of cells in a weightless state...
"Data from medical sciences and biology indicate that, by this year, there are more than sixty-five thousand papers related to HeLa cells and over fifty million tons of HeLa cells have been cultivated…
"Hence, later generations shared this common knowledge – that cancer cell lines are 'immortal'. They can continue dividing without end."
When the professor uttered this line, many students started to clap enthusiastically, indicating their respect toward the contributor, Henrietta Lacks.
"Of course, if we humans play around with this 'switch', we'll end up dead!"
The professor changed the topic abruptly, killing off the applause.
"After all, if the cycle of cell fission in our body is disrupted and doesn't enter senescence in time, it'll turn into a malignant tumor and threaten our life!
"We humans have kept on forging ahead in our search for the truth. When society was nothing more than an assortment of clans, the average human lifespan was less than twenty years. In the Middle Ages, that had progressed to forty years…
"With the emergence of science, human civilization plunged into a phase of swift development. In mere decades, humans of the Earth Federation enjoy an average lifespan that is close to eighty years!
"But is that enough?
"Even if humans achieve the pinnacle of development, we wouldn't surpass the hundred and twenty years stated in the Hayflick Limit. This is a long way from immortality. So, what do we do?"
After a pause, the professor continued.
"Thus, a revolution arrived…
"In 2002, this 'switch' was finally discovered. Professor John Sulston from the University of Cambridge, along with two of his colleagues, found a hereditary regulation mechanism that was then named 'programmed cell death'."
The professor wrote the words "Programmed Cell Death" on the blackboard and roughly drew a circle.
There was a loud snap. The chalk had broken under the professor's forceful fingers.
"This discovery shook up the entire medical science community because it determined that cell death is an automatic, physiological form of 'suicide', like a program that was secretly embedded!"
The professor spread his arms. "This means that, although we initially assumed that senescence was a natural process, in truth, it may be due to a genetic defect! If we can fix this flaw, there's hope that we may prevail over aging and attain immortality!"
A soft, collective gasp could be heard throughout the room.
It was like a huge door had just been opened. Chen Chen's pupils shrank and he could only hear one voice, constantly repeating that magical word.
"Immortality?"
"Immortality…"
"Therefore, as students specializing in biology, you're the generation with the best chance of rectifying this genetic defect."
The professor broke out into an expectant smile. "In other words, you're the ones closest to achieving immortality in the entire human history!"
The class was reaching the end at this point.
The silver-haired professor wiped his sweat with a handkerchief, then concluded in a hopeful, yet rueful, manner:
"There's no denying that we humans are still completely ignorant in the face of the boundless ocean of truth. Perhaps a distant, impossible dream like immortality is only the first step in the search for truth…
"However, no matter what, the future is in your hands…
"That's it. Class dismissed!"
"Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap…"
The room was filled with thunderous applause.

The duo were led by the Duchess to an encampment, though, it seemed too busy for a country not currently at war with anyone. Geralt and Ciri occasionally saw glimpes into some of the tents, spotting men with heavy injuries obviously not caused by human weapons.
Geralt "Was there some kind of attack here?" he asks, curious at what creature might have caused all this.
Henrietta shakes her head, "Unfortunately yes, but not from any country, guild, or even a band of brigands... The one responsible for all of this is the target for your contract, the people have taken to calling it the "Beast of Beauclair", though, my guard captain Damien de la Tour will have more information than I can provide." she says, stopping in front of a large man hastily giving orders to different squads of men.
Damien "You, go patrol the waters surrounding the palace, see anything hostile or out of sorts, then kill it... Understood?" he says, the men nodding before being sent off.
Eventually he's sent all the men away, and notices the Duchess's presence. When he turns towards them Geralt and Ciri finally get a good look at his appearance... He has a bald head with an immaculately maintained mustache, his face does have three large scars displayed on it, two of which look recently received.
Damien "Duchess? Are they the ones you requested?" he asks, giving them an appraising look.
Henrietta nods, "This is Geralt of Rivia and his daughter Ciri, they have already proven their expertise in killing monsters so please restrain yourself from testing their mettle."
Damien rubs his chin and looks over them, "This iz not some bring your daughter to work day Witcher, the beast has killed many already and doesn't seem to slowing his rampage down anytime soon."
Ciri frowns "I could easily beat you if that's what you're implying" she growls at him.
Geralt gestures for her to stop for a moment, "Him? Meaning you've already identified whatever is responsible for this?"
Damien nods, "I encountered them personally... Some kind of fanged monster with huge claws." he says pointing at the scars on his face.
Henrietta "Damien here thought that your service was not needed, that he could solve the problem himself... I invited you anyway as I didn't believe him knowledgable enough in such matters to stop the beast's rampage."
Geralt nods with crossed arms, "You chose right, what you've described is a Higher Vampire, an immortal being that literally cannot die no-matter what you do to it... Inhumanly fast, strong, durable... And all of them have abilities unique to themselves, giving them an incredible advantage over combatants that aren't aware of how they fight."
Henrietta's composure breaks momentarily, "Immortal? Then Toussaint is doomed?"
Geralt shakes his head and gives a smug look to Damien, "Fortunately I brought Ciri... She's likely one of the few people alive that're able to combat such a creature."
Ciri "How'd you reckon Geralt?"
Geralt "Hmm, we've got a certain painting capable of containing something like a Higher Vampire." he says, causing Ciri to slowly nod in realisation.
Henrietta "It seems you have a plan in mind already? Truly quick work, I expected nothing less from the man Dandelion admires so."
Geralt "All we need now is to find where this Monster of yours is."
Damien "Hmm, from the original five victims we found a pattern...The beast hunted men who strayed from the virtues Toussaint was founded upon... Compassion, Generosity, Honour, Valor and Wisdom... Using these hints is where I finally met the beast, but it was too fierce and defeated me... The next kills were on similar men, all knights who'd strayed even slightly from their path." he says looking downtrodden.
Geralt "Hmm, don't suppose you know of any knights who'll likely be attacked?"
Henrietta sighs, "As much as it pains me to say, many knights have begun to lose the virtues that made them so righteous in the first place... There are too many to attempt to catch the fiend in the act."
Ciri "Then... Why don't we have a knight "Stray" even further? Have a knight publically show how much they lack the virtues and wait for the beast to strike." she reasons, Geralt slowly nodding at her idea.
Henrietta "No... We can't have a knight reputation sullied through such a thing, especially when their life would be put in danger as well!" she refutes, only for Damien to chip in.
Damien "I... I myself will do it... As repentance for my failure at apprehending the beast." he says.
Henrietta "No, Damien, I command you to not do something so, so, STUPID!"
Damien shakes his head, "Apologies Duchess, but I have made up my mind... I will become a dishonourable swine to save this land." he states, his resolve made.

Henrietta scowls and storms off, leaving the trio alone as she heads to her palace.
Geralt gives Damien a respectful look, "Are you sure? There's a chance you'll be torn apart..." he says bluntly.
Damien nods, "If it must be so, then let it be so... I wish to battle again against the beast, and reclaim the honour I'd lost... But, first, I need to learn how to be a cantankerous swine... Perhaps you could show me Witcher?" he asks seriously, not yet realising that he'd insulted Geralt.
Ciri's about to punch him in the face but is stopped by Geralt, "It's fine. Alright, let's go to a Brothel, drinks are on me... First, though I'd like to make sure our contract has been finalized... With the Duchess gone that leaves you to sort it out."
Damien nods, "You've already been given the Vineyard Corvo Bianco, the gold reward will have to wait until after we've killed the beast." he states. "Now, we should get moving." he says, anxiously walking into town towards the nearest brothel.
Ciri sighs, "I hate brothels."

Most people who die and are confronted with a godlike being like to take the easy route... Not this guy.

The audience was quiet as they held their breaths. The battle was so high paced that most of them couldn't see what was happening, and the victor was decided just like that. As everyone was waiting for the dust to clear to see who had won, Henrietta looked at the ring with an astonished expression. 
'What was that?' Before she used those mid-tier spells her mana spilled out and covered her... I think I've seen that before, but where?'
As Henrietta was trying her hardest where she saw such mana, the dust finally cleared. Everyone was surprised to see who the victor was. Standing with not a single scratch on her was Lara and the one on the ground unconscious was Irene. 
When Henrietta saw Irene's condition she couldn't see how Lara beat her. There were no visible signs that Irene was attacked, except for the torn part of her dress that happened during the middle of the fight when Lara's mana blade pierced through. As Henrietta was still trying to figure out how Lara won a voice sounded beside her. 
"She used her mana and bloodlust to pressure the enemy into the ground," Layfon spoke while looking amused. 
"Mana and bloodlust, how could?..." Henrietta then remembered another person who did something similar. This was one of Kretos's favorite moves to test if one is worthy to fight him, but how could something like that affect someone on Irene's level? As if reading her mind Layfon gave an answer. 
"The little elf girl isn't weak but she lacks actual combat experience. She has never fought a life and death battle before and being exposed to bloodlust coming from someone like the Silent Death isn't going to be easy to take. Even those battle-hardened A rank adventurers shiver when they hear her name much less feel her bloodlust from up close and personal. Added to that fact she used her mama in tandem to her bloodlust, well this outcome was within my expectations." 
Layfon shrugged his shoulders as he gave his opinion. Henrietta once again looked at Layfon with a bit more curiosity than before. This guy saw everything and he knew how Lara won. 
'It would seem like I've underestimated this guy...'
"So lady Henrietta won't you announce who the winner is already?" Layfon shot a smile at Henrietta. 
"Ahem, Ladies and Gentlemen the winner of the first quarterfinals match is none other than the S rank Adventurer Lara!" 
When the audience heard Henrietta's announcement they were all jolted awake. Some of them were still unable to grasp what had happened, while others simply cheered out because of the excitement they were feeling. 
Once she was announced as the winner of the match Lara was about to walk out of the ring. As she was about to leave she felt an overwhelming presence behind her. Lara instinctively turned around and took a stance. Yet when she looked all she saw was the unconscious Irene. 
'Was it just my imagination?'

Once Irene was taken to the infirmary Henrietta was about ready to announce the next battle for tomorrow. 
"That was such an exciting battle! What a way to start the to quarterfinals! Alright, let us find out who will be participating in the battle tomorrow."
Henrietta randomly pulled two names from the same hat she used yesterday. When she saw tomorrow's match up her smile grew wider. 
"The next battle is between the half-demon Hime, and facing her in tomorrow's battle is our very own Afeus!"

When Afeus heard his name being called he started to sweat. After watching today's match he knew that this tournament's level wasn't something he could handle. 
'Should I just forfeit?...' The moment Afeus thought of that Kretos's face flashed in his mind. That confident look Kretos had as if there was nothing he couldn't do was engraved in Afeus's mind. 
'If it were him facing a stronger opponent than himself, what would he do?... Of course, there's only one answer. That person would laugh and smile merrily as if there was nothing to worry about... What the heck am I doing?' Afeus clenched his fist as a look of determination shined in his eyes.

Hime was also in the arena and looked at her opponent for tomorrow's match. Based on the intelligence she had gathered about the participants, Afeus was just a normal student of the school a few months ago. 'Still, overall it doesn't seem like tomorrow will be a problem. I just need to win this tournament to smoke out those traitors that want to cause chaos.'

It was already night time Afeus was practicing the movements he saw Kretos do one time. Every time Kretos moved during a battle he would use this weird movement that would affect the enemy's line of sight making him look like he disappeared due to how fast he was. But Afeus knew that truth, Kretos told him that he was using a technique. 
Afeus had been practicing this move for the moment Kretos showed it to him, yet no matter how much he tried he couldn't apply the move properly. Still, he needed it now to have even the slightest chance of victory. 
Afeus was panting as sweat-drenched his whole body. He needed to at least be able to use it once. Afeus once again tried to move but his body was feeling heavier thane before. Still, he pushed his body to move. It was at that moment someone appeared before him. 
"Who thought you that move?" The one standing before him was one of the contestants in the tournament, Valdel the magic swordsman. 
"What's it to you?" Afeus answered, but was also shocked that someone would ask that question. To an outsider, what he was doing just looks like he was practicing a weird-looking dance. 
"Please tell me who thought you that move." Valdel bowed his head as he once again asked. Afeus truly surprised to see Valdel do this, he was expecting Valdel to get violent if he didn't answer his question. All the people Afeus knew would have used violence to get what they want, this was the first time he saw someone bow his head in front of him. 
Afeus felt a bit awkward as he scratched his head. Afeus then approached Valdel until he was two feet away from Valdel. 
"There's no need to bow, I'll tell you who taught me the move." 
"Really, thank you very much!" Valdel raised his head and once again bowed his head. 
"Oh, come on I already told you not to bow your head. Someone as powerful as you shouldn't be used to bowing his head like this." 
"What's the difference between being strong or not. Isn't comment courtesy to show your sincerity when you are asking someone a favor." Valdel looked at Afeus as he answered. 
Afeus was stunned, this was the first time he has encountered a person like this. He was used to those forceful types like Kretos who used their strength to their advantage. Seeing a person like this actually exist gave Afeus a weird feeling. 
"The guy who taught me the move is called Kretos." When Valdel heard Afeus's answer he looked downcast. Noticing the change in Valdel's expression Afeus was once again in an awkward position as he didn't know what to say. After a minute of silence, Afeus spoke. 
"Um, so why did you ask who taught me the move?" 
"I'm looking for my best friend, and he uses a similar move. I thought that he was the one who taught you that footwork, but it seems like the footwork wasn't Ren's original."
"Oh, I see... I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help." 
"Nah, it's alright. Just telling me who taught the footwork was already a lot of help... Can you show it to me one more time?" 
Afeus was confused as to why Valdel would want to see him do the weird footwork one more time, but he still complied. Afeus once again used the footwork but it was still done wrong.

" Go on " said Bell, as he listened intently.
" The laboratory is in the state of the arts, it has a door, which does not only require a code, but also a fingerprint. Inside the laboratory are sensors and security cameras, which are both observed 24 hours a day. There is ventilation system, but it is not large enough for any human to fit through, and lastly, the blood of Er was on a table in the middle of the room, but it had not been moved, since there was still dust around the glass which it was contained it, but the blood is missing " 
" Now, my dear boy, the stage is set, who took the blood of Er? "
" A mosquito "
Watson burst out laughing, but he then saw the proud look on Holmes' face.
" Surely you jest? " exclaimed Watson.
" Nope " said Moriarty with a smile.
" The ventilation system was key. I whole heartly believe that it was neither the doctors nor the nurses, and I looked at the footage of the cameras, and no one but the doctors and nurses had entered the laboratory, so a mosquito must have had made its way to the blood through the ventilation system and then it drank the blood "
" But… where is this thieving insect? " asked Watson.
" I looked for it in the laboratory, but I could not find it… " said Moriarty, sounding defeated.
That was when Bell reached into his pocket and pulled out a glass containing the culprit.
" Sir! How did you do it?! " exclaimed Moriarty joyfully, as he looked at the mosquito.
" My dear boy, you have come a long way, but you still need more practice, for it seem that you forgot that mosquitoes like the warm and not the cold, which is way our little friend here was hiding within the lamp "
" But… I looked at the lamp? " said Moriarty, confused.
" Yes, but you did not look inside the lightbulb, " said Holmes with a smile.
" A rookie mistake… " uttered young Moriarty.
" Wait… how did it get inside the lightbulb? " uttered Watson, confused.
" This particular lightbulb had a small crack on it, which was small enough for the mosquito to enter. I found it while you were talking with the doctors and nurses " said Bell with a smile to Moriarty.
" So you took it, and left me at a disadvantage, " said Moriarty.
" I assure you, my dear boy, I did no such thing. The mosquito was still inside the lightbulb, while you were examining the room " 
Moriarty now just smiled.
" It seems like I still have much to learn… " he said.
Holmes simply walked over, and placed his hand on Moriarty's shoulder.
" Do not be disheartened. One day soon, just like with Africanus, you will surpass your predecessor "
" Now Watson, Moriarty, I think that it is high time that we delivered this thief back to the doctors, so that they made retrieve the blood of Er "

Henrietta tightens her grip on me.
"B-But, all those dead, because I wasn't able to do better"
Ren sighs at this train of thought.

Henrietta freezes at what Ren just said.
"If your Brimir was perfect, why do the elves still hold the so-called holy land. Because he was unable to succeed in his lifetime. Do you hear people blame him? Ren makes sure, Henrietta is looking him in his eyes.
"While that religion may say you can never make up for your sins, but did you sin personally? Did you kill anyone maliciously or anyone at all? No, whatever you tell yourself, being ruler demands you take action against those that seek to harm those you are sworn to protect."
Ren gives a malicious smile.
"Or do you prefer doing nothing while that puppet Albion attacks? Having them kill or enslave Tristan citizens and work to death towards whatever they say?" Ren shows his teeth while smiling. "While you are on your hands and knees serving those who killed that Wales of yours. You are a real beauty after all and would be the former ruler. I imagine to break your people's spirits they would parade the failure of a defeated nation defiled and probably mind broken from all that was done to you- "
Henrietta violently shaking smacks Ren across the face, her face showing nothing but rage.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up! How dare you-"
Ren flicks Henrietta on the forehead, making Henrietta knee in pain.
Probably could have held back a bit.
"Really, that slap probably hurt you more than me." Ren sighs. "You can't even hurt someone right."
Ren dismayed at her action.
"You have magic, don't you? Why not try and drown me in a water sphere, if you really want to punish me."
Ren points at her.
"The point is that you had no other choice, but to fight back. That or run, which would have been something you would have been filled with guilt for the rest of your life."
Ren pulls Henrietta to her feet.
"Who else could have led Tristan through this time. Remember how only Louise was the only person you trusted? Remember how everyone else was only looking towards gaining more power for themselves? How that judge sold off Tristan and gave up, despite him not being the one to pay for anything. You led Tristan through this dark time and deserve like everyone else here to be happy and celebrate that it's over." Ren eyes Henrietta with a look of lust. "But, if you keep moping and going on about woe is me crap, I'll punish you myself. You could use my firm hand to get your head on straight, not to mention a good spank on the ass."
Ren finishes with a rogue and mischievous look towards Henrietta's ass.
Henrietta's expression is a mixture of a flushed face with a tiny smile, before changing into a shy expression and covering her butt.
"I am still Queen and ruler of this land. Do you not fear what kind of punishment I can sentence you with?" says Henrietta getting her bearing back.

"I don't really mind the kind of punishment you have in store for me. What will it be? Perhaps strapping me on the bed and having your way with me~"
Henrietta flushes a bit.
Ren gasps.
"Or could it be! Do you prefer doing my child self?! How naughty and deprave of you my queen~"
Henrietta's expression turns full red in a way that would make tomatoes jealous at the shade of Henrietta's face.
Then Henrietta.....smiles. Oh, no.
"fufu~ Ren. You really are too loose with that mouth of yours, perhaps I should just sew it shut. Oh, but don't worry it can always be unsewed when I believe you can behave yourself."
Ren, despite all his power, and will vehemently deny he felt a chill down his spine and some pink dust on his cheeks.
"Your Highness!", fortunately, Anges saves the day. She probably assumed the person next to me would be the queen.
Though she was a little bit too loud, so I grab them both before the citizens become a nuisance.
I get them to an empty alleyway and set up a field, while I do so.
Henrietta and Anges have an idea of what just happened but ask anyway.
"Ren, what is this about?"
"What have you done?"
Ren turns to them and seriously asks Henrietta.
"Remember what we talked about earlier? I'm about to answer that. I trust Anges, but is it alright for me to include her on this topic."
Henrietta pauses for a second and then nods indicating her trust towards Anges.
Anges smiles at this and looks towards Ren.
I tell them about how Albion was only a puppet to Joseph and his familiar. That his purpose was only to sate his boredom and in doing so set Tristan and Albion against one another. I tell them about Tabitha and her mother. I told them, how we plan on storing Tabitha's mother in a safe place and kill Joseph before he can complete any more destruction. I give a short summary of the weapons he's making and what I believe is his future targets.
Henrietta and Anges are shocked and horrified by the revelations that Ren had told them and what is to come.
Henrietta becomes peaceful and stares at Ren.
"Even if what you say is true, there is no way I could approve of your course of action"
Ren laughs at her arrogance.
"What arrogance my queen. I don't need your approval because I will do so even without your permission. My actions and sins are for me to bear alone." Ren gives her a mocking smile. "And let us be real, could you even stop me if you tried?"
Ange's arms herself, sword in hand, waiting for Henrietta's command.
Henrietta thinks 'I would like to think I know Ren. From what I can gather he fights for his own dreams and desires. Despite my status, he never once considered himself subject to my authority, he only went along with what wasn't below his bottom line. I have no control over him and he says his actions and sins are his alone to bear.'
Henrietta takes a deep breath and firmly stares at Ren.
"I won't stop you, but I must confirm and question him myself. I would want to be there when you attack Joseph."
Ren thinks 'How troublesome, but given what I learned today, it can be done.
"Troublesome, but it can be done. The nation's conference that will be taking place in a few days, me and Tabitha will strike after it and when Joseph is on route back to Gallia. You and Anges will keep your distance until the battle is over, I make no promises on both of them being alive, but I can try to get one of them, and have them tell you the truth." Ren sighs then stare at Henrietta. "Does this satisfy you, Henrietta?"
Henrietta nods.
"I'll inform you when I am to leave towards Albion's capital Londinium."
"Good, that's all for now, let us head back. I have those two to escort back to the academy."
Ren picks up Louise and Tifa. He only mentions that Henrietta was in need of some fresh air, so they went on a walk. Louise thinks there's more to it, but with all bark and no bite, Ren charmingly gets the matter to drop and escorts them back to the academy.
I tell Louise since Tifa does not have any housing for today, she will be staying with us and sleeping on the same bed.
Louise must have bonded with Tifa a bit because despite a growl of discomfort, does not make a big deal of it. So after a long day, we go to bed after changing into nightwear. Ren has a Louise on his right and a Tifa on his left, though there is some stuff to take care of. But for tonight all is alright.

I always wondered how and when I was going to die. I always hoped I would just crossover into a fantasy world. I got my wish. No, an opportunity for challenges and adventure. While being OP at the start is something everyone would want, but my current situation is an incredible exploration. One that can maybe give me a sense of fulfillment I lacked before.

Why am I having a hard time breathing? I was fine just awhile ago. What's happening?

Why does my chest feel tight? I can't move.

I tried to move my hand and even tried to lift one finger to wake myself up. I was just sleeping. I'm sure I was sleeping. My dream was still... I can't remember it...

I tried to struggle from that heavy force that's pressing against my head and chest. I could be experiencing sleep paralysis. I should pray so I could wake up soon...

I did my best to open my eyes and felt relieved when I successfully do so. But it looked dark, like someone's trapping me from the darkness.

It had taken me a couple of seconds before I realized what was going on, someone's trying to suffocate me using a pillow. I quickly pushed the pillow off my face and pulled myself up to sit.

I panted heavily as panic slowly rushes to my body. No. Stay calm, please...

"Why can't you just die?" My eyes widen as I recognize that voice. Eliza...

"Just die, your highness, please." She said, almost a whisper, then she tried attacking me again with the dagger she grabbed hidden on the ribbon of her dress. This time I gathered all my strength to push myself off the bed.

I groaned softly as my body hits the cold floor then I rolled a little more to move to the side of my bed near the balcony. My body feels heavy, I wonder if she did something with my body before I woke up.

She was my handmaid and I somehow trusted her. I even treated her properly, so why?

I wanted to ask her questions that suddenly flooded my head, but I have to knock her down first. Before I can do anything against her, I felt another force hitting my back.

"Ugh..." I yelped as my body rolled to the middle part of my room.

For some reasons, I wanted to cry. My body's starting to shake as panic engulfed me.

Henrietta... Don't be so afraid, please... We have to survive...

I tried convincing myself, this body of hers, I want both of us to live. I shut my eyes tightly, silently hoping that any of those three musketeers will show up and save me.

"Let's capture her alive if we can't kill her here," the man who kicked my back suggested.

I could only tremble in fear. My body's not cooperating with my mind, and I'm starting to feel sick.

"Who did you say you would capture alive?" That voice!

I quickly lifted my head and looked at the door of my room. My eyes could be swelling, but it'll be because of the tears I was holding back that's now starting to flow against my cheeks.

Hendrix! Thank God!

"Argh!" The man groaned loudly.

"How dare you enter a lady's room without permission?" It was Arthur's voice!

I witnessed how the man fell on the floor after Arthur had stabbed him with his sword. The heat from this terrifying experience's starting to fill my head. I could feel my chest tightening up even more. And the last thing I heard were their voices calling out to me.

"Henrietta!"

I found myself lying alone on uncle's bed when I opened my eyes. I mentally checked on myself first and was relieved when I felt no pain from breathing anymore. I should be fine now, right? Henrietta should be fine now.

"But can't we tell her now? She's been through alot already. Do you think uncle and aunt will be happy if ever they were here?" It's Hendrix's voice, and it's coming from behind that door.

The door was partially opened that's why I can hear their voices clearly. I carefully got out of the bed and went towards the door. I don't want to eavesdrop, but I think I have the right to know what happened to Henrietta before I came here.

"But they're not here, Hendrix. That's why we must protect her at all cost. We can't afford to lose the last survivor of their twins."

"Twins? What do you mean, uncle?"

I was unable to control myself after hearing what uncle said. Twins? What does that mean? Was that even mentioned in the book? Why can't I recall that part?

"Henrietta... How long have you been standing there?" This is my second time seeing uncle's surprised face. The first time was when I first kissed his cheek.

"Please enlighten me, your excellency. I want to know everything that you're hiding from me," I said, my voice wavering with authority.

They both stared at me for a moment, probably assessing if I'd back down or not. Unfortunately, I won't miss this chance of knowing whatever they're hiding.

Uncle heaved a heavy sigh, as if he was already giving up. "Change your clothes and go to my office," he said with a dismissing tone then left.

I'll make sure to figure out this puzzle piece. I marched towards my room, not bothering to look at Hendrix. Maybe I'll thank him later after all of this.

It only took me a couple of minutes to change into a new dress. I wanted to sprint to uncle's office, but Hendrix seems to fancy blocking my way.

"What is it, brother?" I asked as we head to uncle's office. I found him standing outside of my room. I wonder what he's thinking.

"I'm just worried. I hope nothing changes after this," he said then gave my head a gentle pat. He sounded so weird just now.

But I should prepare myself, I might get hurt knowing the truth.

"Take a seat," uncle motioned at his office's couch. He sat on the large solo couch and beside him was Arthur, he looked silent. I took a seat at the long couch then Hendrix sat beside me.

Silence surrounded us and my heart started beating weirdly, as if it was warning me to be on guard. Please calm down...

"15 years ago, Empress Avery gave birth to the heiress of Clareian Kingdom. Everyone was delighted knowing that they were bestowed with a wonderful blessing, but little did everyone know that it wasn't just a sole heiress. Empress Avery gave birth to a set of twins that only the Emperor's family and exclusive servants know." I watched as uncle held on to his hands that's sitting on his lap. He looked so conflicted.

My heart kept on aching with every word that comes out of his mouth, telling me everything I needed to know.

After the twins were born, only Princess Henrietta was allowed to come out of their secluded room, the reason being her the first child. They were only seconds apart, yet they distinguish the twins as if they have a wider age gap. Amethyst, the second twin, lived her life inside their room that was located at the top part of the main palace.

She was always left there alone and only her nanny gave her the affection and attention she needed as a child. Her parents were busy playing and spoiling her older sister, Henrietta. Despite the discriminating situation she's in, Amethyst remained positive.

She always reminds herself that only the first child are given the right to do all sorts of things while her, the second child, will be forgotten. It was alright for her. She felt fine, after all, Henrietta will still by her side. Her elder sister who loves her so dearly, not even minding the gaps that the adults are setting up for them.

But one stormy night when they both turned eight years old, an assassin infiltrated the main palace. It was during Henrietta's birthday celebration when she was murdered by an assassin sent by a foreign country that hates her father so much.

The emperor and the empress tried saving Henrietta by consulting the powerful mage of the tower but the mage couldn't heal her anymore. Henrietta was no longer breathing, and the only remaining of her was her life essence and magic.

The emperor and the empress begged him to do anything to at least revive her life essence and magic or at least protect it. Uncle said that the mage suggested for them to transfer Henrietta's life essence and magic to a new host. And that new host was none other than her forgotten twin, Amethyst.

Everyone was delighted as they remembered the forgotten twin. They quickly dragged her out of their room, and Amethyst was horrified as she heard the news about her elder sister. Despite that, no one gave her any right to weep for Henrietta.

The essence and magic transfusion began 5 days after Henrietta's death. They followed the mage's instruction and locked Amethyst inside the tower. Before it commences, the mage warned them beforehand that the new host might experience a terrible side effect after this, but it seemed that everyone didn't care. They only care about their only Princess, Henrietta.

The transfusion was successful, but the mage and Henrietta's body were nowhere to be found. The only one left inside the tower was an unconscious Amethyst. Uncle said that after Amethyst woke up, she can no longer remember anything about her childhood, even her name. So the empress, who was starting to lose her shit named her.

"Henrietta Amethyst le Clair. And everyone started treating you like a doll with no genuine emotion. It only ended after the emperor and empress' death. And you began changing after a few years."

I felt speechless. I could feel a certain emotion welling up inside of me. It wasn't about my past life, yet it hurts so much. I'm hurting for Amethyst who can't even mourn for her sister. For Amethyst who was locked inside their room and forgotten by her own family.

Is this why she turned evil in the novel? Was it because she felt too much that she wasn't able to control her self anymore? That she felt good after releasing her anger, her pain, her suffering... I think... I kinda understand why she became evil. It wasn't because of Uncle Deus and his son's treatment. It was because of her family. They were the first ones who treated her badly. 

"I'm sorry. I was there the whole time; I should've just taken you in my home and ignored everything they said." I didn't even realize I was crying, I only did when uncle hugged me tightly.

It wasn't my pain to bear yet it feels so heavy knowing how we're actually alike.

"We don't really hate you as it is. We just wanted to get your attention that badly that's why we were bullying you before. We're sorry for not approaching you gently." Arthur was the first one to speak. He sounded so sincere.

"We really like you, not because you're Amethyst or Henrietta. We like you because you're Henrietta Amethyst, our little sister." I couldn't help but cry even more because of their cuteness.

Uncle pulled away and cupped my cheeks. I sobbed softly as he wiped my tears away with his handkerchief. Then he stood in front of Hendrix and Arthur. I quickly stood up when they all kneeled in front of me.

"We dedicate our life to the future of the Empire, Crown Princess Henrietta Amethyst."

For some odd reasons, I quickly got over the pain that was filling me up just awhile ago. Hearing their words of assurance helped and maybe because of the fact that I am not her helped me as well. We remained inside uncle's office and discussed about what happened.

"It seemed like the assassin came from the same foreign country who attempted to assassin Henriett─your highness before. Your handmaid Eliza was their information broker and the one who leaked about your existence." Hendrix was the one browsing at the documents that Sir Reynolds brought in the office.

"Or maybe the maid's holding a grudge against her since she had that courage to suffocate you with a pillow inside your own room," Arthur hypothetically said.

That can be a possible thing as well. "Either way, we all know that the mastermind can possibly be that same foreign country. Can we deploy some spies to check on them?" I asked as I check on the other documents on the center table.

As I remember, there's a specific spell to locate an anonymous person. I really should learn this kind of things since it's really helpful during this kind of situation.

"Henrietta's right. We should send someone to spy on them." Hendrix seemed to agree with me, but why is uncle just watching us in silence?

Oh, right!

"We have magical gems, right? Do we have something that can act as a tracker and locator?" They seemed surprised with my sudden question. But that gem exists, right?

Do you think I'm dumb when it comes to magical shits?!

"Very well. I'll leave the three of you here, I'll return as soon as possible." Uncle stood from his seat and rushed outside.

I should be used to their weird antics, but why do I still find them odd?

White king head flower herb was a rank six immortal material, it was tossed into the immortal formation.
This immortal formation of Wu clan was famous in history, it was called dead sea life retrieval formation. It originally belonged to an Eastern Sea rank eight Gu Immortal, but after this Gu Immortal came to Southern Border and provoked Wu clan, they got killed instead.
Dead sea life retrieval formation was a healing immortal formation but the core Immortal Gu was only rank seven. That Eastern Sea rank eight Gu Immortal was indeed a rank eight Gu Immortal but before dying, all of their Immortal Gu were destroyed.
