I Let Out A Tired Sigh. I quickly remove all of my clothes, down the remaining coffee in the mug and jump into the shower. I wash the frustration out of my hair and calm my body for a while. Once I'm sure all the warm water is done for, I dry myself and put on some fresh and crispy pair of pyjamas and comfortable baggy t-shirt and jump onto the couch. I open my silver laptop and as if all the weight is back again.

I've been trying to prepare the cover for my new chapbook, "Sea Full Of Stars" for the past three days now. I'm not a visual artist and hiring one costs too much and I'm too broke to spend bills on softwares. It's never easy being a writer. Writing itself can be such a lonely process, although it is my first home. But then I have to design a cover that is not only catchy, mysterious and unique but also conversely uninhibited. Great. I spend hours trying to find the right website that'll let me make one for free.

For a minute there, I sit back tired and almost defeated. What if books didn't have covers, I think to myself. I could've saved all this hassle and been sleeping on my lonely bed in peace. I'd be "Netflix and Chilling" on my phone. I'd probably have been writing something new.

But what about all the books I've read? I confess that I've also once trusted the image more than the not-so-convincing texts. The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald with it's original art work is a stunning masterpiece. The eyes, the blue and the glam packed in it's dressing is an unbelievable turn on for any reader. But then again it wasn't designed by Fitzgerald himself. It was illustrated by Francis Cugat, a little known artist back then. It was the Gatsby that made me realise that it is an art to cover the book with a cape.

The same cannot be said for all the other books in my collection. Interpreter Of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri or Pablo Neruda's Love don't have the most convincing covers. I bought those books for the rave reviews I'd heard of them.

I do know that Rupi Kaur illustrated her own books. I get up and bring out all the poetry books that I own and try to fathom the making of their book art. The simplicity in Rupi's artwork is really appealing, but on the other hand Atticus's books look way too fancy. But the one thing they had in common is that their book covers were exactly what their book title said.

I too want my cover to reflect the idea and spirit of my book. But I don't know anyone who can design a book cover. Or who understands or reads my book or my art. I don't have my Francis Cugat.

I turn back to my computer, reducing it's brightness first because outside it's turning dark and I don't want to turn the light on just yet. I make a mental conversation with myself that if it doesn't work this time, I'll just use a template by Kindle Direct Publishing.

This time I go to YouTube and type 'how to make a paperback book cover for free' and hit Enter. The first video is of a middle-aged white man on the thumbnail, his hair slightly brown and a straight face. I click on it. The video starts demonstrating the process of making an easy to go book cover on this website called Canva.

I've used this app on my phone before but I never knew it could be used for making a paperback dress. I go to the site and follow all the instructions. I choose the image very mindfully, edit it, use the right fonts and change the colors. I do the same with the back cover and add a piece of poetry there. Then I keep following the instructions and after failing countless times, I make the perfect book cover for my latest collection.

I wipe the tears of joy slipping down my cheeks. I know I haven't made the best or make-you-pick-the-book-up kind of cover, but I'm happy.

I realise that I'm more happy because I could finally do something that fits the rules of the modern mass publishing world. I did something that will make people want to give me a look.

If it was upto me, I'd have the cover completely black or yellow and only bare my name and the name of the book. But that's not the case. I just smile with the fact that I made something that reflects the imagery or mood of my book. And I know that even with the exhausting role my cover will play, it won't ever gain the respect it deserves.

I go to bed hungry and drift off.

In these short stories, through personal episodes, the author talks about the complex idea of book covers being more commercial rather than artistic in the perspective of a reader as well as a writer.

The city-sized magical symbols now compressed into the size of a pencil sharpener dropped from the skies. The three symbols danced around Feng. Then they stopped above the two very small empty spaces of the Holographic screen that was crammed with programs.
Deicide wasn't done yet, runes-building needles formed above the holographic screen of Chuba as he used blood magic.
Without much concentration and effort, Deicide with a snap of his finger commanded the runes-building needle to incorporate the magical symbols with the program.
The runes-building needles danced in and out of the magical symbol, cojoining them with the empty space of the holographic screen, changing their properties at will, from corporal to incorporeal. The needles sewed the magical symbols into the holographic screen, performing mystical deed.
When the magical symbols were fully incorporated into the holographic screen that ran various programs, Chuba announced, "Magic spell in-laid, programs combined into one. Initiating the formation of the Mystic platform, 1%..." The screen filled with programs changed to a loading bar.
Just like what Dracula said, Chuba automatically commenced the creation of Feng's soon-to-open shop.  
After the task at hand ended, Feng asked a question from Deicide, a question he was meaning to ask for quite a while.
"Why did you create three spells? We only needed two! What's the last one about?" Feng didn't ask before, as he was discerning how Deicide will co-join a magical spell with programs. Yes, he didn't know how to do such a thing, but he knew now because of seeing Deicide using the runes-building needles to stitch the magical symbols into the holographic screen. Next time, he wouldn't need to scurry here, as he could use Divine energy to do the same. He just needed to chant the [Divinity Scripture] to obtain Divine energy. Then he could do the same.
"Young chap, do you really want to know?" Deicide said in a mysterious tone. His red demonic eyes shined with a greedy glint.
Seeing that, Feng immediately nodded. His ear perked due to curiosity.
"It's... a surprise, you will find out what it is, later," Deicide replied with a massive smirk, one so ugly that even shit would look better in comparison.
Feng expression deflated, as he realized that the pig butchering ancestor trolled him.
The Almighty-Troller got trolled!
Furious, Feng snatched Chuba from Deicide's hand and stored it into his deep pockets. Then he moved out of the desolate soul space, taking off to the physical world.
Going away, Feng insidiously made a plan. Snickering, he said after leaving the soul space of Deicide and appearing into the void, "-10% profit for you, Ancestor pig butcher, "
Right after, he took the 'Out of soul space into the physical world' blue line. Feng conscious body returned back to his physical body. Dun-Dun and Chuba came along with him.
Feng could bring anything out from the soul space into the physical world through the blue lines as long as it was in contact with him. Depending on the size of the thing, he would need to expend none to a certain amount of energy.
Chuba and Dun-Dun were small and they cost him no energy to bring into the physical world.
They two galactical treasures were stored inside his deep pockets.
"Master, you are back," Dracula, who was guarding Feng corporal body, said as he saw Feng's eyes opening. 
"U--Hum," Feng replied. Taking out Chuba from the pocket of his underwear, he placed it in front of Dracula. Feng asked in anticipation, "It's been like this after the spells were laid with-in the programs, any idea how long it will take for this process to finish?" 
"An hour or two, but only if I don't join in and hasten the process," Dracula said. He took chuba and did what he is best at, not asking for the permission of his Master. "Twenty minutes and it will be done, Master"
'Emotion of Free will? Soon, his budding soul will evolve into an artificial soul,' Feng thought internally as he saw that his robot didn't ask for permission. He muttered, "Good"
Dracula took it as a praise, unaware of his master thoughts. He fastened the speed of his typing, helping Chuba in the task of the platform creation.
Dracula and Chuba completed the process. Within twenty minutes, the mystic platform was created. The platform could be accessible by anyone through a software that was created after the programs were combined into one. From the software, an app was created. The app was called Mystic shop, as that's the name Feng had decided upon. The app had the cover of the demonic Feng, whose looks are enchanted by the wings of the mythical creature Roc. Seeing the app, Feng laughed in pride. This laugh wasn't because of the creation of the mystic app, rather, due to narcissism. "Did God forgot to think when he was creating me? Damn, I am so handsome. People's will due to envy." Feng eccentrically thought, excluding the aura of a narcissist. His aura dazzled the mechanical eyes of Dracula.
"It's all up to you. Make everyone aware of the existence of this app." Feng patted Dracula's shoulder.

Dracula was sitting on top of the cargo of the black-truck.
The wind blew hard, hitting his face and ruffling his black hair. The darkness of the night surrounded him. Accompanying him was his master, Feng Mei, who wouldn't remain inside. It's because Feng was too excited to sit still.
Why were they out here? It's cuz' Chuba needed a better connection to connect to all the satellites revolving around the Earth
"And, Done," Dracula pressed on the launch button.
"Launching in 3," Chuba said. The chessboard began to glow in blue. Energy particles emitted out from chuba, condensing into one body of a circular shape right at its middle.

Placing Chuba down, Dracula and Feng moved backward to avoid the sudden burst of radiation.

The circular-shaped energy body shot into the skies. Launched at a fast speed, the beam produced a massive sound.
Boom!!!!!!
Everyone in the black-trucks woke up. Their faces wore a startled expression. The kid's heart was trembling, as the sound produced was dreadful to hear. It was the same as a bomb explosion. Arnold, who was sitting in the passenger seat, tried to find what caused it. There was no fire in the surrounding. 
Half leaning out of the window of the black-truck, he saw what caused the booming sound. It was no explosion!
He saw a blue light that had probably emerged during the night, as last time he looked at the skies there was only Doom Cloud. The beam of blue light pierced through the NIGHT Skies and the Doom cloud, heading off to space. In his eyes, the beam of light seemed to be the pillar of heavens.
It wasn't just Arnold who saw that. People around the world also experienced this blue light.
"When did Earth started shooting stars?" A young monk, his head completely bald, was sitting inside of a buddha temple which is located on top of a massive mountain. The mountain included a city created within its center by the brilliant work of civilization. He muttered while thinking of the devilishly handsome man he saw on stream, "Is it related to him?"
"The blue light of hope," The punkish women with the superpowers of flame said.
"That light, it seemed to be moving closer to us," An extremely short man wearing broken glasses said to an extremely tall man, who is half-naked. His muscular chest was exposed for the world to see. They were both running, the short man was out of breath. He was breathing rapidly. "Let's head there," the short man said between breaths.
"You need to rest, I will hold you," the giant-man kindle offered.
"Are you blind, zombies are chasing after us. Picking me up will slow down your speed. If I can't catch up to you then just abandon me." The short man refused the help of the giant.
Behind them was a massive wave of headless zombies. These were truly undead undead. These fuckers didn't die even after having their head smashed. They couldn't be killed by any means. There was just no way to kill them. These headless zombies were immortal and totally inconceivable.
The short and the tall man ran together. Rushing towards the source of the blue light. Bringing along with them, an army of in mortal zombies!
People around the world had different thoughts revolving around their head when they saw the blue beam that seemed to pierce through the heaven. Some believe that it is the pillars of heaven, which will uphold the skies of this world that was slowly and steadily descending into chaos. Peace will shine once more in this world, along with the golden ray of the Sun.
While some thought that the demon had descended. This was the gate of hell! 
Feng, Dracula, and Chuba didn't know that their simple act of creating an app that will be accessible by anyone will result in such a butterfly effect. They wouldn't have cared even if they knew.

Daniels and Lilly made their way back to the tavern without a hitch. No more strange encounters with asshole rich kids.
Though it wasn't incredibly labor-intensive, Daniels still got a little beat up. The both of them had to trek all the way there and back so they were a little tuckered out. After the nice hearty meal coupled with the walk back the two just wanted to relax for some time. They unstrapped their gear and decided to lay down for a little nap.
Daniels left his pistol on the nightstand within easy reach as he got into bed, and Lilly soon joined him. It was still odd sharing his bed with someone else, especially so a beautiful young woman like Lilly, but her presence and body warmth were incredibly soothing.
The two ended up snuggling together, not quite in a romantic way, more along the lines of just enjoying each other's warmth. Soon enough they fell asleep in each other's embrace. Daniels would later note that he'd never slept as soundly or easily even back on Earth than he had sharing the bed with Lilly. He enjoyed a serene dreamless sleep.
When Daniels awoke the room was dark. Lilly was still snuggled up against him soundly dozing. He gently stroked her hair causing her to softly smile in her sleep. He could very easily see himself falling in love with this girl. He opened up the main system menu and checked the time displayed on the small digital clock.
The clock read 12:41, and sure enough, when he checked his stats he saw that his mana was completely replenished to a full 160.  He wanted to hurry and summon the new equipment but didn't want to wake up Lilly.
Taking a glance around he found an option for a queue, allowing him to pay for the equipment without immediately summoning it physically.
He returned to the MKG and immediately qued two of them for deployment. They both came with 26 round generic magazines with additional costing 18 MP. 40 round mag-ex2s could be also purchased at a rate of 25 MP per mag.
He was frustrated at the lack of available mana to summon equipment with, but for the moment decided to summon 4 26 round magazines leaving no room to summon anything else. To be properly combat effective they'd need more magazines and tactical vests to store the magazines. While Daniels could use the item box to store his mags, it took concentration to rifle through the magic storage box whereas with a vest you just grab and reload.
He wasn't able to bask in self-pity or frustration, however, as Lilly snuggled up against him in her sleep. His expression softened as he felt her body resting up against his. It was almost as if she sensed his discomfort in her sleep and moved to fix it.
Yeah, there was no doubt in his mind, he was falling hard for this girl.

The next day the two went to the guild to report completion and receive their reward. They got their 8 silver and went on to sell the abundance of slime cores. The guild paid 2 copper per core and they sold off the 60 some-odd cores for 6 silver coins to top off the quest rewards. 
Daniels decided to celebrate their first successful quest by treating Lilly to a higher-class restaurant than normal on his own dime. Their usual tavern, while not considered cheap, was mainly suited towards slightly well-off adventurers who didn't mind putting out some silver for a hearty meal. The place Daniels decided to take Lilly was for all intents and purposes a modest steakhouse.
Seeing as they went for lunch, and most of the place's business came from the dinner hours, they didn't have to worry about any heavy lines or reservations. As they were brought to a table Daniels noted it was a nice-looking place. It had a good homely feel to it, not trying to be incredibly fancy or stuck up, yet still offering some higher-class meals.
They were directed to a nice corner booth and handed menus by the polite waitress. The waitress left and gave them time to decide. Lilly took a look at the menu and looked a little worried.
"Don't worry too much, enjoy yourself. I said I'm paying didn't I?"
"But it's quite expensive! The main dish here is about what you'd pay for a month's stay at a nice inn!" she replied looking worriedly.
"Please don't worry about it, I'm not exactly rich per see but I'm pretty well off. The least I could do after your excellent work is treat you to a nice meal."
She looked down with a slight blush avoiding eye contact.
"In that case, I'll have a plated silver tail of venison and toast."
He nodded and kept looking through the menu. The meal she'd asked for was only about 13 silver so it wasn't a huge deal to him. He decided on a nice highcow steak and what seemed to be some sort of baked french fry type side. It netted him around 20 silver but he was willing to pay it for a good steak, and the prospect of otherworldly french fries was too much to pass on for the former American.
The waitress came back and took their orders before asking what they'd have to drink.
"We are well known for our sharp champagne if you would like to have that. It comes included with the highcow steak."
"Could I?" Lilly asked timidly.
"Sure. If we could please have a glass of the champagne and would you happen to have any sparkling water or anything of that sort? I prefer to stay sober myself."
That was a blatant lie, Daniels loved nothing more than a couple beers after a hard day's work, but he knew he needed to stay sharp in case anything happened. Handling guns drunk is highly discouraged, and champagne was a bit too high class for his cheap beer pallet.
"Of course. So that will be a plate of silver tail venison with bread and a highcow steak with a side of kartoffelscheibes?"
"Yes please."
"Alright it'll be out in 10 minutes, thank you for your patronage," the waitress bowed and left to take the order to the kitchen.
Another waiter came by with glasses of water while they waited, and Daniels was surprised to see ice chunks in the water.
While they waited they chatted a little bit, learning a thing or two about each other. Through their conversations, Lilly learned that Daniels had the mindest of live free or die, which was not a thought process that was very widespread. This world has been ruled by monarchies and empires pretty much the entire time civilization has existed. Tommy elaborated on the lengths his home nation had gone to become free and stay free. It surprised Lilly that people could truly rise up against rulers and rule (for the most part) by the people.
Daniels found out that Lilly had a profound love of reading. Despite his attitude and mannerisms, Daniels himself loved nothing more than to sit back or lay in bed with the kindle app. As he told Lilly about Kindle he could practically see stars in her eyes.
Soon though, their food arrived. They ate their meal in comfortable silence only occasionally mentioning how good it was. And it certainly was good. The "highcow" steak tasted far better than even the best-prepared steaks he'd ever had back on earth. Must be a different species of cow or the like. And the fries, who knew that baking fries would be so good? Now all he needed was buns and ketchup and he'd be able to recreate a good old-fashioned burger. Now that was a happy thought.
Lilly'd ordered another glass of champagne, and the effects were showing. When they got up to leave she was a bit tipsy. Daniels tried to help her walk but that didn't help either.
[What is that shit? Straight ethanol?]
Just like back in the forest, Daniels gently lifted her in a princess carry. Her soft eyes and flushed cheeks looking up at him, she was absolutely stunning. Daniels wasn't one to take advantage of a girl though. He walked back to their inn with a couple of people congratulating him on his "score" and more than a few looks of scorn.
[It's not what it looks like though...]
When he entered the inn the receptionist woman gave him a stern disapproving look. He would've explained but it seemed that Lilly'd fallen asleep in his arms.
[Oh well, wouldn't be the first time this has happened.] he thought to himself.
When he made it into the room he tried to lay her gently on the bed, but as he was about to turn and walk away she grabbed his head and pulled him into a deep yet awkward kiss.
He pulled back after a moment in shock.
"Lilly what are you..."
As he pulled back she started to cry.
"You... You don't want me?" she softly cried in her drunken stupor.
"No no no, I never said that. I'm just worried the alcohol has got you feeling weird. I don't want to do anything that you'd regret," he told her softly, "Lilly, I really do think I love you, I just don't want to hurt you."
Tears welled up in her eyes at his confession. He reached down and hugged her warmly.
"You're so nice to me... Laying down and snuggling with you just feels so right." she said in between sobs.
"Shhh, I feel the same." he stroked her hair as she drunkenly sobbed, "Lilly I know you've gone through hell, that's why I want to make sure you're happy and well taken care of. I know we haven't been together that long, but trust me when I say I'd go to the ends of the Earth for you."
She sniffled, "Earth?"
He kept gently stroking her hair and rubbing her back, "DO you remember when I said I'm from very far away?"
She lightly nodded.
"I'm not from this world Lilly, I've been reincarnated here from Earth. It's been quite a ride, and I likely would've been very lost and without direction had I not met you. I don't believe in love at first sight, but I do believe everyone's got someone they're destined for. I don't know if I'm destined for you but I certainly know that I feel a strong bond for you that transcends friendship. I love you, Lilly."
Her crying stopped slowly but surely as she calmed down. Soon he was left with just the sound of her softly breathing. he gently laid down in bed with her. It seemed she was fast asleep. He continued to softly stroke her hair as she curled up to him in her sleep. He softly kissed her head and felt her tension ease away in his arms. 
[Lord I thank you for this gift you've given me. For her.] Daniels prayed in his mind as sleep took him.

My second endeavor in writing has our protagonist Daniels sent to a strange world that will be all but too familiar for you, the readers.  What differs this from other isekai, however, is Daniels ability which will let him become the living breathing incarnation of "Victory through Superior Firepower".

I do not plan to hold punches with language and if I deem it appropriate for the situation, the wonderfully gory details.  I hope that this can set itself apart from my other work in terms of quality, coherence, and worldbuilding.  As elements may be added tags will be appropriately mirrored.

Greetings to all my readers, I wish to say something to you.

Firstly, I want to apologise to all of you. All those who have found this fanfic to be enjoyable, I truly apologise to you for not so inconsistent in writing the chapters of this fanfic or responding to you all. There have been multiple reasons for why I was inconsistent but it doesn't change the fact. I hope you forgive me.

Honestly speaking, I had started writing this fanfic with nothing concrete in my mind. I was just fed up of fanfic in those days that I felt that I must write something better than fanfics with those pussy main characters and all. I didn't expect you all to like this much, however, much can be contributed to the fact that it was one of the first Against the Gods Fanfic here. Nevertheless, I am very glad for all the support you have shown me.

Even before I had started writing this fanfic, I had been writing a novel. It isn't a lewd novel I guess haha... It's something I have been working on since 2-3 years. Its outlook is also not like that of an official novel but still, I have done all I can do alone, writing the novel, editing it and everything. Some friends helped me, but eventually, I completed it by myself.

I am from India, and in 3rd year of my Engineering. I guess I found my passion too late as I had already joined the college and wanted to graduate before working actively in the writing field. However, near the end of my first year, I had already started writing this Fanfic. Perhaps it was because of my lust of popularity or because I also wanted to write a Douluo Dalu fanfic, I started writing about it too. I guess I chewed off more than I could bite. Writing three novels at the same time was far too taxing. Especially when I had to give out regular chapters. I even started using p.atreon to collect money for advance chapters because I wanted to prove to my parents that I could earn through writing as well. My parents were convinced but I was seriously exhausted after a month or two. I couldn't go anywhere and spent all my time on discord or writing.

After that, I was interested in a girl I met online. She was from the same country as me. I was infatuated with her. The time talking to her was so relaxing that I slowly found myself getting out of writing. I slowly reduced my time in writing and started to talk with her more. However, she soon found someone else she liked so I got a little angry. We had a quarrel and I was pretty much pathetically depressed. I know I was in the wrong but I still couldn't control my emotions at that time. I was quite pathetic, I guess. Haha...

Anyway, I am out of depression. I had started watching animes again because of a bit of my free time and study for engineering. (I pretty much failed in quite a few subjects in a few semesters so I had to reappear in those exams again. Had to study all that too...) In a bit of my free time, I read some novels. I tried to improve my writing style and felt that it has improved a lot. During that time, I kept my mind focused on my main novel and kept everything aside. I just wrote something now and then for fun. It was to try out whether it would look appropriate in my main novel or not.

I have said it before but I guess I will say it again, I wish to turn this story into a manga story. I know I am not from Japan, it's probably a little preposterous for me to think of making manga and publishing it. Even after that, I have little hope of gaining popularity. However, I still want to make a manga. I am going to hire an artist and discuss a long term plan with him to ensure that it would come to reality even if it costs me a lot.

Currently, I have released my novel on the Kindle (Amazon), I won't say you must buy it. In fact, I urge you not to buy it if you do not like it. That will be your own decision. I just want you to read the free preview available on kindle, just tell me if you like it or not. I just want to know a bit of your viewpoint if you will like the story or not... I haven't asked anyone known to me to review the novel because the first few reviews I wish for are the true reviews. I just want to know whether my story is worth reading or not and let you be the judge of this fact.
