Romance is a very popular genre in Webnovels. The first thing that come to mind when we talk about romance are the CEO novels. Even though we don't want to admit it, they are the mainstream romance stories in the Webnovel website. 

So why do people love romance stories? I hope you find the answer while reading this chapter.

FattyBai: I'm a simple guy, I see plot and I drown it in martial arts and manly stuff. Of course, I don't know what feelings are. Can you eat them to increase your cultivation base? *think smart emoticon*

Elyon knew that "Romance" is not his strong point. He writes a fantasy story with romance, but he can't tell if the romance will be able to attract female readers. Out of curiosity, he asked some of his fellow authors the question "Why do you read romance stories?"

Here are their answers…

Kyosei: Because I am single. 

Reili: To fill my empty void of a love life.

Minrei: Because romance let you feel what is to be loved, plus it is universal you dont need to learn magic or cultivation in order to read.

Bajj: Due to lack of romance irl.

Murakami: I read because I enjoy the friction and conflict between the FL and ML. The insistence vs resistance is naisu.

Qin: I reads romance only for ideas and info.

VlassisBehrakis: I don't read romance novels.

Elyon then  ̶a̶m̶b̶u̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ asked some readers about their opinion about romance novels.

Yin: I read romance novels because I want that kind of drama to happen to me in real life. But I know it will never happen haha.

A Certain Irresistible Meowlin: I wonder why? And I do read romance novels. Though the chance of me dropping them is also the highest out of all the genres. Every so often I come across a scene that makes me just want to squeal and fangirl.

Elyon decided to dig deeper and asked a few of his senior "romance authors" some questions about their reason for writing romance stories.

The first question is… Why did you choose to write Romance Stories?

Anjeeriku: I'm comfortable writing romance stories compared to other genres. I'm a helpless romantic person and I like novels that can invoke other people's feelings.

Bajj: First of all, I like reading romance story. It was the reason why I read books before and reading other genres comes after. All in all, due to these romance fiction books, I got the opportunity to read more great books with different genre.

MishaK: That's what I read, so write that too.

Zehell2218: Because as reader, I want to read romance novel so when I write, I write romance since my motto is I write what I want to read.

Ikazainudin: The easiest genre. Everyone can relate.

End_of_Era: It wasn't a full on Romance, it was slice of life with romance which I feel was necessary with progression of the characters.

The second question… When you were making your ML and FL, did you imagine yourself as the lead of your story at any given point in time?

Anjeeriku: I would be a liar if I said no. There were instances that I'd put myself in my FL's shoes. Whenever that happens, my writing feels more passionate and truthful that sometimes it was hard to know where my fl starts and where I end. 

Shen Yi, LMD's ML was based on a person I've lost, The One That Got Away so it was sometimes hard not to self-insert whenever there were scenes that need to invoke feelings from readers. 

Bajj: I believe that every character the author was making and breathing life into it, a part of him/her is added to its character. But me imagining of being the ML/FL, never. I'm too pure for that. Kek

MishaK: Yes I did but sometimes. Otherwise you can't infuse emotions in your characters. It is important to understand your characters.

Zehell2218: Yes, I imagine myself as the lead. Of course, I tweak it a bit, such as in age and appearance. But mostly, the characteristics is similar to me.

Ikazainudin: FL and ML character based on what I want to be irl. Yup. I imagine that will be my love story.

End_of_Era: Yes, my leads had some ocassional self insertion.

The third question… If you were to choose some other genre aside from romance, what would you pick?

Anjeeriku: Fantasy. I always look up to those authors who can write fantasy stories/novels well. I believe writing a fantasy novel is harder than writing romance.

MishaK: I am writing a Fantasy romance aside from regular vanilla romance *smile emoticon*

Ikazainudin: Psychological/horror and maybe children story.

End_of_Era: The new genre I'm writing is fantasy/violent .

Anjeeriku: I'm sorry for not being inconsistent with updates. Y'all know I love you, but a little consideration and patience as I face this rough patch in my life would be very much appreciated.

Hello Guys! I hope you enjoyed this chapter of WWCG. Personally, I've read a few CEO novels myself. I also read some FL stories like A Slight Smile Is Devastating (Love O2O), Hidden Marriage, Doomed to be Cannon Fodder, Transmigrator meets Reincarnator, A Mistaken Marriage Match: A Generation of Military Counselor, There Is an Angel in That Church (short story), Eight Treasures Trousseau, Grabbing Your Hand, Dragging you Away, A Mistaken Marriage Match: Record of Washed Grievances…

Ai~ there's a few more that I won't add to the list because it will create a wall of text. Well anyways, the reason why I read these stories is to get an idea on "WHY" the ladies love to read them.

Let's just say that it's a unique way to see a world in the eye of a lady (if you are a man of course). When done properly, the execution of the story can capture the hearts of anyone, even male readers. I believe that no matter what gender you are, as long as you find the story interesting then it doesn't matter whether you are a guy or a gal no?

Perhaps, when I'm not too busy to write my stories, I'll once again pick a romance novel to read. Hopefully, I will find another hidden gem that will bring unexpected surprises to anyone who are lucky enough to find them.

I am 16 year old, Who is just about to be 17 in a month, and I hate romance ,Not because I cannot do it. I don't know since this is my first time! I don't know why this screen magically appeared but romance is sure a good pick?

Lia doesn't make sense. She ought to believe that romance is happiness, a later when you grow older the feelings and bond will mend forever. Like what God had told her.

Is it really true? The romance of Sherry Min and Gin Park? Is there "A Reason Why?" A novel that I love and unexpectedly the author made me cry but, I got the author points. It was to make more monnies. Maybe it was a good trial for me. A love that needs trust.

She ask herself if her life would turn out like Sherry and Gin.

Nothing to her unconscious mind, a fable was stated by,

about a guy who lost his wife to a psycho serial killer and when the police thought they "found him" a girl with really good hearing said it wasn't that guy and now the guy who lost his wife is mad at her and thought she was paid to save his wife killer but that wasn't at all the case. then a year later she joins the police team force as a senior and then meets the same guy and as a team, they try to find the killer through various dangers.

genre:   romantic comedy
this one made me laugh and smiled. it was filled with humor and that's why i like it so much it was definitely a nice experience.
5. It's ok to not be okay (was always on plus/standard)
genre(to me): comedy, romance,sad,deep,psychology,past
it apparently said it was melodrama but it made me laugh so much you have no idea there were lovable characters that made me happy and you'll recognize them right away ( i think til the 8th ep. you'll realize but wtv)

4. Hotel Del Luna
it's storyline and the amount of surprises and love in it just left me empty once i finished it i do that a lot with dramas i get attached with including everyone in here.

3. Angels Last Mission: Love
genre: romance,sweet,fantasy,comedy.
this left me with a lot of questions but it was enjoyable and i would totally recommend it. i loved it since the first episode. trust me it'll get you good for sure!

"All right guys, remember what we're doing?"
    "Yes!" my bandmates responded. The drummer's name is Josh, back up guitarist is Sam, and the other guitarist is Will, he sings as well. They tended to their instruments while I walked over to Emily.
    "Now, if you're nervous, just look at me, alright?" 
    She nodded her head and gripped her assigned mic with white knuckles.
    "Sixty seconds till curtain!" 
    We played some chords in harmony with each other to check the key signature and the speakers.
    "Thirty seconds!"
    Dim lights faded up so we could see in the darkness of the covered stage. The curtain lifted and the crowd cheered. There were hushed whispers about the new girl on stage. The drummer in the back cracked his sticks together to get us on the beat. We started to play "Bad Romance," covered by Halestorm. 
"Want your bad romance. I want your ugly. I want your disease. I want your everything, as long as it's free. I want your love." I sang
"I want your love." Sang Will. 
 "Love, love, love. I want your love." 
"I want your love, I want your love."
"I want your drama. The touch of your hand. I want your leather-studded kiss in the sand. I want your love."

Now is Emily's cue, let's see how she does.
"You know that I want you, and you know that I need you. I want it bad, your bad romance."
Perfect.

Now the hard part. I trust that Emily can do this. She looked at me and then the crowd then closed her eyes. Here we go.

As soon as she started to sing I froze in awe. The crowd went wild. Will had to bump into me to tell me to sing and play, but I couldn't take my eyes off her.

"I want your love." Will backed up.

Emily jumped into the crowd and danced with them as Will and I sang. 
"I want your psycho. Your vertigo stick. Want you in my rear window. Baby, you're sick. I want your love."

"You know that I want you, and you know that I need you. I want your bad, your bad romance." Emily sang in the crowd and they cheered.

    Nailed it again that I froze, my eyes still on her as she's buried in the crowd. Goosebumps shot up and down my arms and back. Will bumped me again and I shook my head and sighed and continued, "Want your bad romance. Want your bad romance. Want your bad romance."
Emily started heading back to the stage and I stopped playing to help her up. I sang to her and to the crowd as I helped her up. "I want your love, and I want your revenge. I want your love, I don't wanna be friends." I got her on the stage and I danced with her as I continued singing. Josh, Sam, and Will played while I sang to Emily and the crowd, but Emily doesn't know I'm singing this to her. She thinks it's part of the song.  "Je veux ton amour. Et je veux ta revanche. J'veux ton amour, I don't wanna be friends."
"I don't wanna be friends." Will sang.
"I don't wanna be friends." 
"I don't wanna be friends."
"No, I don't wanna be friends." I spun her away from me. 
"I don't wanna be friends." Will continued. 
"Want your bad romance." She spun back to me.
"Want your bad romance."
"Want your bad romance." She was in my arms and I was looking at her. She and I were breathless and the crowd cheered. For a split second, I froze while I gazed at her. I wanted to kiss her so badly, but instead I continued. 
"I want your love, and I want your revenge. You and me could write a bad romance." 
"Oh oh oh oh ooh." she sang 
"I want your love and all your lovers' revenge. You and me could write a bad romance." I was expecting her voice this time so I continued playing. 
"Oh oh oh oh ooh oh oh oh ooh oh oh! Caught in a bad romance. "Oh oh oh oh ooh oh oh oh ooh oh oh! Caught in a bad romance." I walked towards her as I sang the final part.
"Want your bad romance." I put down my guitar and touched her arms and slid my hands down her until I was holding her waist. Our faces were millimeters apart, I whispered. "Want your bad romance." While the last few chords played I kissed her. So deeply, so passionately, so emotionally. I moved my hand tighter around her waist and my other to push her head more towards mine. Her lips were so soft, and she tasted like apple cider. I want more. After I ran out of breath I pulled back and the crowd was going crazy. I looked at Emily and she was so flustered, my desire only grew. The curtain fell and we got ready for our next song, and a speech before the song. 
"Did I do good?" Emily's small, flustered voice asked.
I looked at her with pride, and smiled. "You left everyone speechless."
"But I distracted you. I'm sorry I ruined it."
"You didn't do anything wrong. You can blame that on me because I can't resist you." I moved her face to look at mine. "You were perfect."
She blushed again and smiled. "Good then."
"Yo Hunter! It's talk time!" Will shouted by the curtain. I nodded and sat Emily down on one of the boxes and joined my bandmates. The crowd cheered as we walked back on stage. Everyone was shouting questions about who the girl was who sang so perfectly.
"She's a self trained singer." responded Sam.
"And she's close with Hunter," added Josh.
"Speaking of that, let me get her up here." I said. Then I disappeared to bring her on stage. Once she was on people cheered louder than before. I handed her my mic and she said, "Hi."
I took back the mic and said, "This is Emily Youngblood. We met about a month ago on her birthday, September sixteenth. When she turned sixteen, golden year for her. You could say we're soulmates which brings us to now." I turned to her and the crowd shished. It was her and my world now. Just us. "Emily Youngblood." I pulled out the jewelry box and opened it, revealing a necklace. It was a rose gold circle with diamonds, and a little glass ball in the center that said, "I love you," in one hundred different languages when a light shined through it. I put it on her and continued. "I love you so much that I gave you one hundred different languages to proclaim it. I need you to be with me. Now and forever." I looked directly into her ocean eyes and said, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
She smiled and smirked, she was going to make a joke out of this. "Such a gentleman, how could I say no? Yes, I will."
The crowd cheered and I hugged her and spun her in my arms. She's all mine now. All mine. I carried her in my arms as my band and us went backstage to prepare for our next song.
"Wait for me here, okay? I'll take you home after."
She nodded and I kissed her forehead, then I joined my band and we played a song called, "Monster Mash" for the season. People sang and danced along to it as we played. After the song was over we bowed and went back stage one more time to clean up, but Emily wasn't there. In her place was the necklace she just got, but it was broken. The chain looked like someone ripped it off her neck and then left with her. Silently, but aggressively. There's only one person she would listen to under those circumstances. Her father. He took her away from me again. I have to save her. I grabbed her necklace, took my guitar off my back, and ran to my truck. I started the truck and slammed on the gas. 
Emily
A yank came around my neck, and the necklace was thrown in front of me. The smell from behind me was strong and familiar. My dad. He put his giant hand around my small mouth and dragged me home. How did he know I was here? How is he even here?  He never leaves the couch, much less the house. He's clearly drunk and high, and he's going to use me as his doll again. I struggled to break free, but I was no match for a fat man like him.
"Stupid bitch playin' games again, not listenin'. When are ya ever gonna learn to stay home?" He threw me against the wall in our cold, smelly, old house. 
Hunter where are you? 
I huddled in on myself to protect the important parts of my body while dad raised a beer bottle to smash against me. 
Blood. Warm, sticky blood. It flowed smoothly out of my arms as he raised another and struck me again, and again, and again. All my strength was leaving my bloody arms as he kept striking me. Until he stopped suddenly.
