"Ah, so this is Gordom's border?" I asked, looking out the window where a huge wall stood. It was without a doubt the biggest wall that I had ever seen in my whole life, and I couldn't even see the end of it from inside the carriage.  
"It is, and when we go out of that gate," he pointed to a tall and rusty gate by the center of the wall, "We will no longer be in the land of vampires. Instead, we will reach a place called Shadow Woods."  
"Shadow Woods?"
"It's a forest that belongs to no one and is used to divide the three lands," he explained, taking out a parchment from his pocket. The parchment turned out to be a map of the three lands, depicting the location of each land.  
"Have you heard about Axthrone?" he queried, and when I shook my head no, he laid out the map on his thighs, showing me the map.
When I looked at the map, I realized for the first time that the three lands were all located on the same continent, separated only by the forest called Shadow Woods. Shadow Woods itself was located by the middle of the map, spanning from the bottom to the top of the map—splitting it into two halves.
Wonsvile took the majority of the map's left side, while Gordom and Myltha shared the remaining half. Myltha occupied the smaller upper side, whereas Gordom occupied the larger bottom side.  
"You see, all of this used to be one," he said as he circled the entire map, "There was no Wonsvile, no Gordom, and no Myltha—there was only a place called Axthrone. It used to be a place where all creatures lived peacefully alongside one another. However, the peace didn't last long."  
I nodded to his explanation, allowing him to continue.  
"Axthrone was destroyed when a war broke out, and we call that war the Great Axthrone War. It first started as a war between all creatures, each creature vying for dominance—though I can't say the same about humans," he chuckled, "Werewolves, vampires, and humans eventually came to an accord and resolved to battle the witches together, as witches were the ones who first started the war."
"Why did the witches start the war?" I asked.
"Of course, to rule the world," he answered, "They wanted to create a world full of magic, where witches rule over all creatures. They were greedy for power, but then their greed cost them their magic."  
"What do you mean it cost them their magic? They can't use their magic anymore?"
"Ahh, did I not tell you?" he asked, tilting his head to the side, "There are two kinds of witches, a black witch, and a white witch. The black witches were the ones who started the war, not the white ones. And when I say magic, I mean black magic. Black magic is magic that is only used by the black witches, mostly to bring harm to others."  
There are two kinds of witches? It was my first time hearing about it.  
"How did they lose them?"  
"At that time, the white witches were on our side. Despite the fact that they are sisters, black and white witches have always had a bad relationship since they never view things the same way. That's why white witches banded together with us and helped us defeat the black witches. While the other three creatures cornered black witches, white witches gathered their strength to seal the black magic in an orb known as the black orb.
But due to the immense power of black magic, one black orb was not sufficient to seal it all. As a result, white witches sealed the black magic in three black orbs and kept them hidden in a place only they knew about."
"Why didn't they just destroy the orbs?"  
"Because they lack the power to do so," he explained, "In order for them to seal the black magic, they needed to pay for a price—and that price was their own magic. That's why they could only seal half of the black magic, but that was enough to defeat the black witches."  
"So to defeat the black witches, the white witches sacrificed their magic?"  
"Not completely, but yes," he said, scratching his head, "I don't really know much about the witches, but I believe only a certain group of white witches lose their magic."
"Does that mean white witches are good? But why are they treated the same way? People would immediately kill anyone suspected of being a witch, regardless of whether they are a white witch or a black witch—or if they are a witch at all."
"Well, it's because we can't tell them apart. The fear of not being able to tell them apart drove people to kill just anyone under the suspicions," he folded the map back to his pocket, crossing his legs together, "But as white witches are quite helpful, a few recognized ones live under the protection of the church, using their magic to help people in need.
White witches who live under the protection of the church will have a mark on their bodies, and only those who bear the mark of a white witch will be safe from the people's dread—although it seems not everyone knows about this fact."
It is true that not many people knew about this fact—or about any dark creatures in general. I only knew about the dark creatures because my mother used to tell me a lot of interesting stories, but even with that, it was the first time for me to hear about the things Luke told me about today.  
While not many knew about the existence of the other two dark creatures, it wasn't quite the same for witches. We have been told many horrible stories of witches, but none of them tells about the different kinds of witches—probably because people had decided that all witches were evil. Despite the differences in their nature, both witches were grouped together and feared the same.  
"Does that mean all the witches we found outside of the church are black witches?"l
"Not exactly," he shook his head, "White witches who live under the protection of the church are always heavily guarded, with every of their action observed. That is why I believe there must be some white witches out there who chose to live in the darkness rather than live under control."  
"But why are they controlled?"  
"Because there might be a chance of them turning to a black witch by tapping into the remaining black magic."
Ahh, that makes sense. I wanted to know more about how they sealed the dark magic, but I didn't think Luke would know that much about the witches. It was quite fun to learn more about the world I'm living in.  
I was so engrossed in hearing Luke's explanation that I didn't notice that we had long entered the Shadow Woods. When I looked out of the window, I realized why this place was called the Shadow Woods. The trees around us were thick and tall, towering over us and hiding nearly all of the day's light. It seemed as though day had abruptly given way to the darkness of night.
It wouldn't be shocking if something suddenly showed up... something otherworldly.  
I swallowed the lump in my throat, slowly backing away from the window. I was not fond of things like this, even though I was used to the darkness. I'm not sure when the dislike for this first started, but I believe it was on one of the days when I was locked in the underground room.  
I remember I was locked in the underground room for about a week, and I was very weak due to the days of starvation. I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't feeling well, but I recall seeing a shadow in the underground room where I was constantly alone—a shadow that wasn't mine.  
Even though the room was dark, I could still see some light from the small opening created by the closed door, and that light caused me to see the shadow. At first, I thought I was hallucinating. But then the shadow started to move, going around the room and stopped in front of me. It stayed for some time as if scrutinizing me before then started to move around again.
The only chair in the room started to move on its own, and the chains left on the ground started to make a clanking sound. I was certain that there was something else in the room, as I could feel a breeze whenever the shadow went past me. It was the first time that I was afraid of something I couldn't see, and it made me realize there was a lot about the world that I didn't know about.  
I remember—for the rest of my stay in the underground room—I was not alone.  
"AHHH!!" I screamed.
While I was replaying the horrifying memory in my head, something suddenly touched my hands, immediately startling me. I drew my hands away from whatever was touching me, but it turned out to be Luke, who had the same surprised expression on his face after attempting to take my hands in his.
"Did I... do something wrong?"


"Oh! Thank you for catching that little troublemaker. Please give her back to us," said one of the guards while panting for air.

Not knowing what to do, I frantically held the man's hand and pleaded, "Please save me! They are going to hurt me! I don't want to go back!"

The man first looked at me for a couple of seconds, then at the guards. "Go," he said to the guards grimly. Surprisingly, he was on my side. I was counting on my lucky stars to ask for help from him and I was fortunate enough to earn it.

"What?" asked the guards, confused by the man's words.

"I said go... before I kill you," he threatened. I was hiding behind the man's back and couldn't see his face, but my guts told me that he meant his words.

The guards looked surprised by his words but quickly recovered from them and, instead, started to challenge the man, "We won't go before you hand us that girl."

The man sighed and said, "I warned you." After that, the man let go of my hand and turned my body around. "Don't look," he said, before starting to walk towards the guards. 

Every step he took exuded confidence, and he was not the least scared of the guards who were armed with swords when he himself had nothing but his bare hands.

I closed my eyes even with my back towards them and heard one of the guards scream trying to attack the man. No longer after that, the only sound that I could hear was something like... bones breaking.

A few moments later, it was completely silent. Is he done? The silence was soon broken by footsteps that I assumed were getting closer to where I was. Is this the footsteps of the man or the guards? That was the question that popped up in my mind.

I was ready to run, but before I could proceed to do that, two strong arms gripped both of my shoulders, turning my body around. I nervously opened my eyes to find a pair of red eyes staring softly at me.

"Are you okay?"

By the words that were exchanged now, Penny gathered that the white witches couldn't use powers like that of the black witches. To clarify she asked, "I thought the white witches couldn't make use of it," Father Antonio smiled. 
"It isn't that we can't. Being born the same as twins. One with good and the other with bad qualities, both have been gifted. It is just that white witches believe in not tapping into the black magic," he explained to have more curious on her toes. 
"Why not?" If it was going to benefit and repel the black witches, wasn't it good? She looked at Damien who looked as if he already knew the answer to it. Though he knew quite a few things about the witches, he wanted her to learn things directly from a witch and not himself. 
Father Antonio walked towards a plain wall, pulling a folded chart that was at the top with the ring to hook it below. Picking up the lump of coal which was lying around, he drew two stick figures, "This is the white witch and this is the black witch," he drew a moon and a sun to emphasize it more, "We have codes here when we speak so that we don't have any witch to pick on what we speak."
Penny knew that, "The moon is the black witch," she said.
"Correct. The moon represents the black witches and the sun represents the white witch. Here is the black magic which is made of pure darkness," he made a scribbled circle on the plane, going to draw as he spoke, "The white witches know about it. At least a lot of them who have lived in the same coven unless they are orphaned or haven't been told their origin on what they are or where they come from, where the information is lost. Leaving them completely clueless and live the life of a human. Some find out about who they are and are burnt alive because of the very trust they keep with the humans they have grown with."
Seeing father Antonio look towards Damien, Penny instinctively looked at him where he had been listening to the priest speak with an uninterested face as if he already knew about it. Looking back at the man who had looked at the pureblooded vampire, he said,
"Mr. Quinn has more knowledge about it than I do. He has been walking on these lands for a long time before I even came to existence," that was taken for granted thought Penny to herself but now that she thought about it, did the witches live as long as the humans or more than that? 
Damien spoke from his seat, "The witches came to the existence the same time the pureblooded came to be known by the humans. The witches were all white in the beginning. Though there are some stories or rumors of the existence of black witch coming forth to be different, each and every version you hear will be different. The question is which one do you believe?"
Penny waited for him to continue, her attention which was held by both the men who were speaking about the very first existence of the white witches and black witches which she was sure no one would know for sure as what the truth was. 
Leaning back in his chair in a way where the front two legs of the chair were left hanging in the air with the back legs of it supporting, "Humans, witches, vampires, each have their own version but even witches have their version mixed which you will find faults in. Like Father Antonio said, both the kinds are gifted equally because they are part of the same coin," as Penny heard Damien speak, she saw the priest drawing something more in terms of lines between the two stick figures, "The black witches when they first arrived, the truth was already known but the white witches had hid it from most of us. The truth is the black witches were once white witches."
A deep furrow formed between her brows, taking in what Damien just said on the black witches. The black witches were once white witches?
"How can that be possible?" she asked not able to grasp it. Everyone knew how different the witches were, and though they were different, the witches were burnt after finding them from hiding. 
Father Antonio stepped back in the conversation to say, "It is the black magic," she saw the arrow being pointed towards the white witch and then the black witch, "The white magic and black magic are things which are not to be tapped."
"Not even white magic?" she raised her eyebrows to see the man nod. 
"The magic is accessible to us but that doesn't mean you can take and make use of it. Using white magic in minute quantities will not harm one. We make use of it here to build the necessarily needed weapons. One of the white magic is the holy water which the humans very much seek to protect themselves. Just because the water comes from the church doesn't make it holy. The prayer that is used is nothing but a spell used by the white witches," Father Antonio placed two glasses of water for them to drink on the table,
"When a white witch starts to stray from the expected path, tapping into the forbidden magic which is the black magic, their body composition starts to change before they turn to a black witch. Mr. Quinn is right though. There are many lores that surround the black witches. Some who call them the Satan's children while some say they are born that way and maybe they are."
This meant there was more than one way the black witches came to existence, thought Penny to herself. Still thinking how unexpected it was to have the white witches turning to black witches. 
"Let me show you," said the priest, untying the robe that he wore and then the button which had the cross mark on his neck. He pulled one side of the dress that he wore to reveal the severe pigmentation that now covered on his skin which looked similar to the black witches' true form. 


"Who touched you?" he asked, his eyes brooding down at her and when she didn't answer, his voice thundered in the room, "WHO?"

The butler who stood near the wall spoke shakily, "Sir, it was Mr. Reverale," Damien's face turned sour, his jaw ticking in anger he turned his face to the side where the butler stood behind.

"Bring the man here."

"N-now?" stuttered the butler. It was the time of night.

Damien who hadn't broken his eye contact with the girl in front of him, pushed his hand against the wall which now rested beside his beautiful girl's head. Turning his body, he first looked at his butler who had his head bowed. With great courage, the butler came to meet his Master's eyes, "Do you have any other better time? Or should it be after I wring your neck?" Damien asked calmly tilting his head. Not a second later, the butler ran out of the room to return back with Mr. Reverale after twenty minutes.

"Damien, are we having a late tea party?" Mr. Reverale came to greet but the master of the house had other plans. Spotting the knife that was stuck to the apple on the table, he reached for it to pull it out.

Just as Mr. Reverale went to exchange a handshake with him, Damien took hold of his hand to place it on the table. In one swift movement as if he were chopping onions, he chopped the four fingers of the man off his hand making him yelp and cry in pain.

"No one touches what is mine. I am sure this will remind you the next time you even think about touching her," sighed Damien as if he were tired of telling people to keep their dirty hands off his belongings.

Meet Damien Quinn, a pureblooded vampire who is a complete narcissist, brash with his words and stingy even though he is rich who haggled when he bought a slave from the black market.

(3rd person P.O.V) 

As they walk downstairs they come in front of a wall, the dark witch leader runs her hand through the walls looking for something that helps them to get inside the secret room. Finally, after some time, she manages to find that brick and push it, and the walls move away and give them the way to get inside the room. 

The room was dark when they get inside the room. Their, leader snaps her finger, and the room light up, with the candles flying around the room. They look around the room but didn't find any single dark shadow witches coven. 

"There is nothing here? Are you sure, leader, that the spiritual moon whiches had kept them here?" Molly, one of the dark witch's asks her leader. 

"Yes, I think they were here otherwise the water in the pound wouldn't be so powerful to make her energetic and take away all of her exhaustion," their leader said to them. 

"Do you think; the white witches got here before us, and take the shadow coven witches and warlocks, somewhere as? " one of the dark witches asks their leader. 

"I don't think so, I don't sense any kind of positive energy here, and I don't think they would know what we are thinking or planning to do by spying on us, because if they had, I would have found out about it," their leader said to them. 

"Then what do you think, happens here?" another dark witch asks their leader. 

"Maybe when a fight between shadow coven witches and spiritual moon coven witches happen, an of the strongest dark witches or warlocks drop of the blood has fallen in the pound, that's why it still contains some dark energy? What do you think leader?" Mara asks her leader. 

"I think you are right," their leader said to them. 

"But, unfortunately, the whole pound of dry now, so it was useless now," their leader said with a sign. 

"Don't worry, leader, I have stored some of it in a bottle, just in case before informing you about it to you all, it was enough for the spell and portion to help us, finding them," Bellasitic said to her leader. 

"You did?" their leader asks her. Ballistic nodded her head at her and take the small bottle out of her cloak and, handed it over to her leader. 

"Good, let's go now," their leader said to them and, they all walk out of the room. They close the door and teleport themself to the castle. They added five drops of water that they found in the pound in a potion and cool it down for some time. Then, they sprinkle the potion on a black crow while murmuring a spell and, flew him away, after attaching a tracking device on his leg. 

After 4 days, the dark witch who was keeping an eye on a crow, come and inform them that they finally found the location of the shadow coven witches and they do some preparation and leave to find him. Peter who was watching and listening on a nearby tree in the castle leaves to inform Nikki about it. 

Nikki was brushing her hair and was about the walk out of her room when she heard someone peeking at her window, she opens the window to and Peter fly towards her and lands on her should, then tells her everything that happens in the castle. 

 "What? But how is it possible, we made sure that they didn't able to find anything that helps them find their location," Nikki asks herself, and then rush down to inform others about it. 

"Emma, the dark witches found out about their shadow coven location," Nikki said when she walks inside the living room. 

"What? but how? I thought we have covered all their traces, while we were there," Nathali said to no one particular. 

"We dwell about it, later, right now we have dark witches to stop, let's go," Emma said and teleport everyone to the amazon forest. 

"Everyone surrounds every corner of the cave," Emma said and everyone follows her instruction. 

"Casse and Izzy, you guy go to the Simba forest and investigate and find out how they found out shadow coven witches location, and take few others with you too," Emma said to the two strong and old witches, they nodded their head at her and teleport themselves in the Simba forest. 

After some time, they feel the presence of the dark witches near them and heard the alarm goes off, signaling that they are not too far away from them. 

"Take your position and be ready to attack, as soon as they step in the barrier we will attack them," Emma said and prepare a fireball in her hand to throw at them. 

"We have followed it many times and it always stops here," they heard one of the dark witches said to their leader. 

"But we can able to see and sense any dark present here," they heard another witch said to their leader. 

"That is because they have putten the invisible wall here and cover the shadow coven members presences so that no one can find them," they heard the dark witches leader said to them and Emma give them the signal to get ready to attack them. 

 

As soon as, the dark witches murmur to spell to remove the invisible wall, Emma and others attack them with spells taking them by surprise, but thanks to their fast reflection dark witches able to save themself. 

Nikki use her earth power and made the trees grab the dark witches and killed them by snapping their neck or showing a branch into their hearts, but they were smart as soon as the tree branches grab them, they burn them or somehow able to slip throw the branches before Nikki able to do something to stop them. 

 Nikki curse under her breath and use her mind power to go inside their mind and kill them while inflating to much much pain in their head. After some time, the dark witches who have gone to the Simba forest comes back and start attacking the dark witches. 

Seeing that they are outnumbered by them, the dark witches decided to retreat since they have lost almost 1/4 of their people and can't afford any more casualties. Nikki was about to follow them but Emma stops her. 

"You have lost too much energy, by using mind-controlling power, you push yourself, even more, you will pass out due to exhaustion, and it will only make their work even easier to get you," Emma explains to her when Nikki look at her with a questioning look. 

"So, what do we do then, they had already found about shadow coven member locations and after finding us waiting for them only confirm their location," Nikki asks her. 

"It's time, we call everyone and prepare to attack them, and complete this chapter for once and for all," Emma said to her. 

"Are you sure about it?" Maya one of the older witches, asks her. 

"Our training is almost over, we already know about their location, they are injured and outnumbered, so if we attack them now, it will become easy for us to win this war with fewer casualties, " Emma said to them. 

"Sia, I want you to mind link the alphas and vampire coven leaders and tell them to gather at my mansion for the meeting with their warriors," Emma said to her, she nodded her head at her and do as told by her. 

"And what about, shadow coven witches, we can't leave them unguarded, " Nikki asks her. 

"The protection spell which we have cast here is still intact, to keep them away from shadow coven members. and I don't think they will come after them for two tree days because they were still recovering from the injuries, and before they can fully heal and come here, we would have already killed them," with that said Emma teleports everyone back to the mansion.

Blink. Luca found himself having a meeting with the chaplain and the rest of the big sisters. However, as it turned out, Isla was more informed about what was happening than the chaplain. She overtook the meeting and had been discussing the strange congregations around Cape Cod.
Along with her surface findings were photos of the streets where the congregations had happened. For the last three nights, small groups were spotted. However, last night, their exposure was the longest. It was as if they were watching over the city… but as goons lurking in the dark.
It was a strange and alarming sight even to Luca, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that he… actually knew who those could be. At one photo, his eyes widened as he saw a familiar silhouette among the gang gathering in the not-so-conspicuous area of the park.
Even if the youths wore some kind of carton masks and had their hoods pulled down, Luca would never mistake just about anyone for Noah. That height, that posture, that frame… not to mention that he remembered what Noah was wearing last night.
Could the people be… witches? But… what were they doing so out in the open?
At this point, Isla was speaking in the language of officials. After she finished her report, she didn't move the slide and continued to display the photo where Noah was allegedly found. "Of course, all of these are baseless accusations. When examined thoroughly, we knew exactly who those are."
Her eyes flashed and gazed at Luca discreetly. "These are the witches of Mammon…"
"Mammon?" The chaplain was shocked. He was only allowed to know the operations as he was tasked to pacify the people of what they may witness in the coming days. He already had to dispel the rumors about the devil because of that blue fire that ate the unofficially opened resort.
"Isn't that… a demon prince?" His brows frowned. He knew what the witches could do and how they actually become one. Hearing of them gathering in multitudes made alarms ring in his head.
Isla nodded. "In fact, they were all tasked to do a very simple thing."
The chaplain was praying for strength to receive the revelation as if he had a feeling that something very bad was about to happen. The White Magi were already here; what else of a sign did he need to know that the city was in trouble?
Isla's pause made the chaplain's heart race. He wasn't willing to hear anything so ominous…
"To warn the people."
"…"
The chaplain's heart and mind suddenly went silent. The next, he was all encumbered by confusion and demand. "What do you mean 'warn the people'?! Aren't they supposed to be bringing chaos and sin to the children of God?!"
Isla wasn't fazed by the chaplain's reaction as she had seen that look in the faces of the rest. She flashed a smile and waved her hand. "No, no. Normally, they would… but there's something happening now that made them waive their own agenda.
"Most witches of Mammon were non-combatants in the world of magic. That meant that they're nothing bigger than gangsters who mug people. Their greed was only limited to money; I don't think only a few could be entrusted with bigger things like convening with the other legions.
"However, something so big was coming up, and every legion is on the edge of their seats. Moreover, the reason why they were all out last night… was that someone requested to speak with them." Isla directed her laser light at the figure who seemed to be Noah. "Him."
Gianna's eyes flared, but she remained silent. It was the same with Winona and Tabitha. Alessa had a different reaction, and it was indifference. It was as if she counted on him being so bold about the things he actually wanted to do.
The chaplain frowned. He tried to memorize the features of the tall, strapping man Isla was referring to. "Why? Who is he?"
"We don't know yet,"—Isla lied without batting an eyelid—"but he seemed to be going from one street to another last night, speaking with the designated leaders of the thugs in the area. Even the leaders of the gangs were very respectful to him.
"Nonetheless, he should be someone with a high position in the witch world. A Supreme of a greed coven? Someone from the other legions? We don't know." Isla glanced at the photo on the screen. "What we do know was that he was making use of the witches of Mammon's surface intel.
"You see, there are two intelligence legions of Hell. One is the witches of Asmodeus, and the other is the witches of Mammon. However, most of the time, the witches of Asmodeus was referred to as their intel legion. The greed witches didn't seem to be as reliant… unlike last night.
"I just realized that… the big happening was affecting both the underground and the surface. The witches of Asmodeus could go on and on about the secrets of the tycoons and their hidden alliances, but only the witches of Mammon knew how the people reacted to everything.
"Every murmur would be filtered, and regular people would be tracked down easily. The witches of Asmodeus were all about crafty torture and secret extractions, but the witches of Mammon held more intel about how much the masses actually know about the worth of magic.
"This man right here"—Isla emphasized the anonymity of the man—"knew that the masses was the main weapon of the enemy. So… he went around last night, from street to street, to activate the alarms of the masses. An agitated population would be more defensive about rumors.

"So it all came to this. You and me, finally standing face-to-face." A wide, menacing grin spread on Satan's face as he looked down at the approaching witch. "Tell me, Montana Mills... how was your descent to Hell?"

"Worth the wait." Montana lifted his left arm and curled his fingers, blue flames blazing to turn it into a four-fingered claw. "Since you're looking forward to meeting me, I take it as you getting ready to fall by my hands."

Satan only got up from the throne and dropped the goblet at the side as his humongous bat-like wings slowly spread behind him, casting a shadow that ate up the entire width of the chamber. He raised both hands as if downplaying the witch's words. "You really think you can kill me now?"

Montana crouched down and summoned the blue flames to embrace his body as a silhouette of a hellhound emerged around him. "I do."

Boom! He dashed towards the demon prince at the speed of sound and swung down his claw. Satan only laughed out as he summoned bones to cover his arms and block the attack.

A loud sound and a brutal shockwave followed and rippled through the air as Montana's claw struck against Satan's arm. With their eyes getting at the same level, Satan returned the glare that Montana gave him.

However, Montana grinned as well as his dark eyes lit up brightly in blue fire.

"Do you really think I can't take your place as a demon prince?"

After the banquet, Lotus and Wendy were called into Roland's office.
"Did everything on Sleeping Island go well?" he said to Lotus with a smile, "I hope I didn't bring you any trouble during Tilly's absence."
"Of course not." Lotus nodded and then whispered, "Oh... well, you gave me a scarf as a present last time, and I haven't thanked you yet."
"Don't be so formal." Roland waved his hand slightly. He knew that they would become less familiar with him after a period of time away, but this did not mean their personal relationship would be broken. Actually, this unfamiliarity was just temporary... He believed they would soon be able to be comfortable in this union again as long as he treated them as usual. When Heidi Morgan heard Roland's announcement, she sneered at what she perceived to be a commoner's stupidity. She thought that this was a stupid move from Roland since the witches would clearly side with her in the debate. There would be no way that they would agree with what Roland was saying about reconciling with the church. This was a great opportunity – for her. Roland would lose his remaining support among the witches and she would be able to easily take power. Clearly Roland was shooting himself in the foot.

The members of the Bloodfang Association met together before the debate to discuss their plan.
 
"This is our chance", said Heidi Morgan. "We will be able to show the witches the truth and humiliate that fool Roland. Roland is a commoner and has never shared our pain. That is why he cannot understand what we feel. He sits atop an altar of superiority and doesn't consider the feeling of us witches. That is why he will never be able to control us. In the end, he is just a commoner without magic. It was foolish of us to even have considered working with him. In the end, we must depend solely on ourselves."
 
"So what will our plan be?", asked one witch.

Roland entered and gave some opening remarks. "I am glad that all of you can make it today. We are here now so that everyone can discuss their ideas. A good leader listens to his people and I welcome all of you to say what is on your mind. Don't worry, I will not punish you solely for having differing viewpoints from me so do not be afraid to talk. A good leader does not shy away from criticism so feel free to criticize me as well."

Heidi Morgan smiled. Roland was almost making it too easy for her.

"Now, would anyone like to speak first", Roland said.

Heidi Morgan stood up.

"Heidi Morgan, you are recognized to speak", Roland said.

"Thank you for allowing me to speak." Heidi had a smirk on her face. "There is one issue that I believe must be addressed. An issue that affects all witches. All of us witches have suffered throughout our lives. For most of our lives we were hunted by the church and we had to wander from place to place, living in terrible conditions. The church was the greatest cause of our suffering and their crimes against witches have stretched back for hundreds of years."

Heidi Morgan watched Roland to see his reaction. However, Roland seemed to sit without looking concerned in the slightest.

Heidi continued to speak. "Such a crime cannot be forgiven! We must continue to fight against the church to end their evil existence once and for all. Even if we are not doing it for ourselves, we must do it for the previous generations of witches who died because of them. It is up to us to avenge all witches everywhere, throughout all of history. The church thinks they can absolve their sins by simply putting out a few words. We must not be fooled by their sweet words, their sins cannot be forgiven. They must be judged, and we shall be the ones to do it!"

The confederates to Heidi's scheme began clapping and other witches started joining in. It seemed that many of them were quite convinced by what she had said.

Then, Roland stood up and addressed Heidi. "May I ask you a few questions?"

"Of course", Heidi said, completely confident in herself.

"The church says that the reason they were killing witches was to create warriors to fight against the demons and save humanity. What do you think about that?", Roland asked.

"They are evil", Heidi said assertively. "Witches should not be sacrificed so wantonly. Every life of a witch is important."

"I agree. So you would never sacrifice a witch for your personal gain, correct?", Roland asked.

"Yes", said Heidi Morgan. After all, she couldn't really say anything else.

"I see. Well, I would like to give the floor to someone else who has something to say." Roland then exited the room and then a witch entered. It was Annie.

Heidi Morgan didn't recognize Annie. As Annie got up onto the podium, Skyflare suddenly realized something. She tried to get to Heidi to tell her something, but Annie already started talking.

"I was a witch in the Kingdom of Wolfheart", said Annie. "I fled from the church alongside my friend who was also a witch. Then, we came upon another group of witches. The Bloodfang Association."

Heidi Morgan was frozen in terror. She didn't think one of the witches she discarded would manage to survive. And to come back at a time like this, it was disastrous.

Annie continued to speak, with each word further condemning Heidi Morgan. "I was separated from my friend, who was recruited into the Bloodfang Association because of her useful ability. Heidi Morgan didn't think my ability was useful, so she had me sent away. I was given away to a cruel nobleman who abused me every day. These were long torturous days. Finally, I managed to escape and I ended up in the Kingdom of Dawn where I was rescued by king Roland's people."

Annie gathered up her breath. "I did not expect to see her here!" Annie pointed at Heidi Morgan. "The woman who betrayed me and sold me away to a noble. To hear her speaking about protecting witches, it sickens me."

The room burst into uproar. With Heidi Morgan's crimes exposed to everyone, the people around her started condemning her while the rest of the Bloodfang Association sat in shock.

Heidi Morgan started speaking to the other Bloodfang Association members. "I did this all for you. I gave up those other witches to protect you", she said desperately. Finally, even the other members of the Bloodfang Association started rejecting her.

"I never should have trusted you", one witch bawled. "I should have known you didn't really care about witches when you planned to assassinate Ashes just so you can take over."

The additional information about Heidi Morgan's evil intentions caused further condemnation from all the witches around her. Heidi saw everything falling apart around her.

Finally, Heidi Morgan lost control and started laughing. "It's all over it seems. All of my work, come to nothing." With a crazy glint in her eyes, she turned to Annie. "Since my life is over now, I am going to take down the one responsible." Heidi Morgan lunged toward Annie.

Suddenly, a gunshot echoed through the room. Everyone fell silent. Heidi Morgan slumped to the ground, dead. In Iffy's hand was a pistol, still smoking from the shot.

Then, Iffy spoke. "You almost killed my friend once, I won't let you try to do it again."

Eventually, everyone calmed down from the shock of what just happened. After Heidi Morgan's body was removed, Roland entered the hall again.

"It is tragic that this had to end in death", Roland said. "We should let go of our past grievances. There is no need for anymore bloodshed. The greatest threat to witches isn't any one organization. Rather, it is ourselves. In order to survive against the threat of the demons we must all come together, regardless of our past feuds. From this day forward let no witch make war upon any other witch, let no witch organization conspire against this new beginning, and let no one consort with demonic powers, and to all the enemies of humanity seek not to bar our way for we shall win through, no matter the cost."

With the leader who was stirring up resentment dead and discredited, Neverwinter once more settled into peace. Knowledge of Heidi Morgan's crimes had greatly discredited her movement and resentment against the church was suppressed in favor of a new beginning. The Bloodfang Association soon dissolved. Its members were not wanted in the other witch organizations because of their tainted association with Heidi Morgan. So, most of the Bloodfang witches ended up joining Roland's Witch Union.
