Feeling uncertain, she was about to step forward to take a closer look when she heard loud hissing noises. Several poisonous snakes sprang out. With a wave of her hand, a sharp wind blade struck two of the snakes.
The fierce wind blade was as sharp as a knife. She thought that the wind blade would cut the snakes into several pieces like before. However, when the wind blade struck the snakes, there was a loud clang. The two snakes were only knocked over by the wind blade and fell to the ground, there were no visible wounds on the snakes. They got back up and slithered over towards her again quickly. 
Upon seeing this, she was slightly surprised and retreated quickly. She felt very strange, how could her wind blade not kill the poisonous snakes? Moreover, there was a 'clang' that sounded like metal when it struck the poisonous snakes. 
While she retreated, she sized up the poisonous snakes and saw that the snakes that were attacking her were a small snake and a medium snake. Some of the larger poisonous snakes were curled up under the tree. Amongst them was a much larger snake, it was most likely the Snake King. It was as thick as a man's arm and about three metres long. At this time, the snake was staring at her with its red eyes, flicking its tongue.
"Are you threatening me?"
She raised her eyebrows, planning her move, as she watched the Snake King screech at her, its tongue flicking, staring at her fiercely with its red bloodthirsty snake eyes.
These snakes probably belong to gold attributes and therefore cannot be killed by swords. What about realgar, what snakes feared most? She retrieved a bottle of realgar from her space, unscrewed the lid and threw it at the snakes.
However, when the realgar landed on the snakes, she couldn't help but blink involuntarily when she saw that it had no effect on them at all. The snakes were still nested under the tree and didn't slither away, as if they didn't smell the realgar at all. 
Upon seeing this, she touched her chin and her eyes moved slightly. Realgar was useless? How could it be useless? Normally, any kind of poisonous snake wouldn't be able to withstand the smell of realgar. Realgar was the natural nemesis of snakes. The situation at hand had her worried. 
Her eyes shifted and landed on the tree. The snakes were unharmed by swords and not afraid of realgar, but what about the fruit on the strange spiritual tree?
It seemed that she needed to understand what kind of tree this was, and why the snakes were so reluctant to leave the tree. Since neither realgar nor sword could hurt the snakes, what about….. Poison?
With this idea in her head, she jumped up and moved to an area further away from the tree. She set up barrier enchantments around her to prevent the snakes from coming in and then retrieved the pill furnace from space and picked out several herbal medicines. She began working and mixed together about twenty or so herbal medicines and elixir medicines, then finally, she was ready to ignite the pill furnace. 
Flames screamed under the pill furnace, until when the right temperature was reached, she put the prepared mixture into it. After about an hour, the twenty or so medicines were combined within the pill furnace and the smell of the medicines permeated the air. She couldn't help but start to wonder. 
The snakes became unusual because of the unknown spiritual fruit tree, once her pot of medicine was ready, would it have the desired effect she wanted to achieve?
When she thought of this, her eyes twitched and she retrieved three more medicines from space and added it to the pill furnace.

Xiao Mufei couldn't proceed with his plan to kill the snake king. Now, he was in trouble and didn't know how to get out of it. He was fine now, but as time passed, he might get exhausted!

The men saw Xiao Mufei got trapped, but there was nothing they could do to save him.

Xiao Mufei was the strongest among them all. He was the only one who could rush so far over the snakes. The others was unable to do so. The only thing they could do was to sigh!

At the moment, Ye Xiao tapped on Erhuo's head and said, "Erhuo, it's your time to show what you got. Go!"

Erhuo looked aside and made a sound proudly. "Meow!" It got down to the floor and made a stretch, before it walked out step by step in an elegant way.

The disciples of Cold Moon Palace were trying their best to defend the attack from the snakes. Some of them stayed in the center of the defense area to restore the qi and energy, but they still kept watching Xiao Mufei. Nobody noticed what Ye Xiao just did. If somebody saw him, they might scold him for playing with a cat at this moment when their master was in great danger!

Erhuo elegantly walked over a dozen steps out and then suddenly hunch-up its back. - Shoot! - It disappeared leaving a mass of white smoke.

A long white smoke was shooting towards the snakes fast.

After a second, Erhuo was about one meter away.

That was where there were most snakes and the most dangerous place. Erhuo just touched the floor and the snakes all moved over to it. Dozens of snakes started to bite it.

Erhuo could be swallowed by one snake, not to mention dozens of them!

It stood there and didn't move a bit. It tilted its head looking at the snakes indifferently. Suddenly, it humphed with its wet nose.

"Humph! Mia!"

Its right claw pad hit the floor. - Pah! - Its half-closed eyes suddenly opened!

It burst out an enormous mass of qi towards the snakes.

After that, those snakes which had been surrounding Erhuo all moved backward like they all got stricken by lightning. The snakes from the distance were still moving closer to it, yet the close ones were moving outward!

The snakes kept getting closer like a mountain suppressing on the snakes around it. The snakes around it tried so hard to keep the other snakes away.

- Crack! Crack! - Too many snakes were getting close. Those around Erhuo were crashed!

However, even though those snakes' bones were cracked, they didn't move away a bit. They surprisingly formed a shield to defend Erhuo.

The snakes showed only fear in their eyes!

That was the fear for the upper level creature!

It was even more fearful than death!

Erhuo waved its tail and elegantly walked away.

Wherever it walked, the snakes made way for it.

That was such a marvelous scene to see!

At the moment, countless snakes stood up and moved aside. That made a small path for Erhuo!

Erhuo, a little cat the size of a man's hand, walked in the path casually and elegantly. It was so arrogant.

It happened so fast and nobody saw it. Otherwise, the men would have been shocked and their jaws would fall to the floor!

If Xiao Mufei saw it, he might cut off his own eyes because he wouldn't believe what he had seen. He was totally wrong about 'it is just a normal cat'!

The snakes that made way for Erhuo… their necks stayed the same shape. They didn't even dare to breath in front of Erhuo!

They all stood straight up and didn't move a bit like ice sculptures.

They might not be as respectful like this to the snake king!

Erhuo walked so arrogantly and elegantly! It looked so good!

As Erhuo walked away, the snakes finally got down to the floor. They didn't continue the attack, but just slipped away and hid in the bushes! They ran away from their battle!

Of course, they ran away! Nothing was more important than saving their own lives from that monster now!

The snakes attacked from everywhere like tides. People of Cold Moon Palace wouldn't have time to look at what happened on the little cat.

Ye Xiao had been watching Erhuo so he saw it.

However, the snakes blocked his sight, so he didn't see the whole thing happen. Otherwise, he would be impressed more about that little cat!

There was something strange about this particular tier-3 spirit medicine. As for its overall quality, shockingly, it had surpassed the low-grade to reach mid-grade. Bai Xiaochun was ecstatic, and immediately forgot about how depressed he was because of the rabbit.
Holding the pill in his hand, his excitement grew until he was panting, and his eyes glittering.
"This pill is a spirit medicine that can change the fate of 10,000 Snakes Valley.... It will teach all of these snakes... how to shut their mouths!" Even as a proud smile spread across his face, he suddenly remembered the rabbit, and his heart thumped. But then the violent hisses of the snakes reached his ears, as well as the sound of snakes slamming into the spell formation shield.
"Pipe down!" he growled, glaring over at them. With that, he produced the turtle-wok and performed a spirit enhancement.... Furthermore, he didn't stop at a twofold enhancement; he drew upon his few remaining spirit tails to perform a threefold enhancement.
Silver light glittered, and many of the impurities in the medicinal pill were removed; shockingly, it rose from mid-grade to premium-grade!
Medicinal pill in hand, Bai Xiaochun strode out of the stone hut to stand at the edge of the spell formation, where he looked at the countless snakes spraying venom and slamming into the shield.
"Half a year ago, Lord Bai told you that I would show you how awesome I am. Don't forget. You forced me to do this!" With that, he waved his hand, sending the medicinal pill shooting out of the spell formation to land in the middle of all the snakes.
He had added a drop of his own blood to the mixture, so as soon as the pill flew out, countless snakes pounced, struggling amongst each other to be the one to swallow it down. The snake to win out in the end was in the fourth level of Qi Condensation, a cloudy-eyed death viper. As soon as it swallowed the pill, a tremor ran through it, and its eyes began to shine with a strange light.
Bai Xiaochun looked over excitedly, but before anything else could happen, one of the bloodgod cobras charged forth. Considering it was in the eighth level of Qi Condensation, it crushed numerous other snakes that got in its path, reducing them to nothing more than a gory paste. Then, it swallowed the cloudy-eyed death viper in a single gulp.
Bai Xiaochun's eyes went wide as he looked over at the bloodgod cobra, which looked back at him with cold eyes before slithering to a rocky outcropping, where it coiled up.
Bai Xiaochun was starting to get nervous, but had no choice other than to wait and see what else happened. After the time it takes an incense stick to burn, the bloodgod cobra suddenly shivered. Apparently, it wanted to open its mouth, but there was something very sticky keeping it shut. It struggled mightily, and managed to open its mouth a crack, revealing sticky strands stretching between its lips and fangs.
Bai Xiaochun was delighted to see that his work was a success, and eagerly awaited the second effect of the spirit medicine to start working.
Yet again, enough time passed for an incense stick to burn. The bloodgod cobra's mouth was now completely sealed shut. Its eyes were bulging out of its head, and instead of being cold and vicious, they now looked like the eyes of a goldfish. The snake seemed confused, and instead of being fierce like before, it seemed slightly cute....
Soon, poofing sounds could be heard from the bloodgod cobra, like that of flatulence. A pink gaseous substance appeared, which rapidly transformed into a fog that spread out in all directions.
More poofing sounds could be heard; apparently the bloodgod cobra was not yet finished expelling gas. Bai Xiaochun looked on excitedly as the process continued for the rest of the day.
Other than the area within the spell formation, the entire cave was now filled with a pink haze, which the other snakes inhaled. Gradually, a sticky substance began to build up in their mouths, and their eyes began to bulge. Soon, the next set of snakes began to pass gas.
Eventually, the poofing sounds rang out like muffled thunder, echoing out about the cave constantly. As the haze filled the subterranean chamber, all the of the snakes came to be affected.
Even the snakes deepest within the chamber, whose glittering eyes Bai Xiaochun found the most frightening, began to emit poofing sounds.
A few days later, the haze faded away. Bai Xiaochun stood there in the spell formation, looking around at the silent snake cave. There was no hissing, no venom spraying around. The mouths of all the snakes were shut tight, and their blank eyes bulged with confusion.
Bai Xiaochun threw his head back and laughed uproariously. Sticking his chin up proudly, he naturally assumed the sullen manner of a lonely hero and swished his sleeve.
"With the snap of a finger, I shut the mouths of all the snakes in 10,000 Snakes Valley. As for that profoundly consummate pill of mine, I shall hereby name it... the Shut Your Trap Pill!"
The lonely hero strode out from within the spell formation into the hordes of lovely little snakes. As he looked around, he smiled happily and felt like even more of a hero. But then he noticed a one-step viper off in the distance who was glowing red, almost as if its body were heating up. Then, in the strangest of developments, it suddenly started thrashing around violently.
Now that the one-step viper's mouth was stopped up, it couldn't hiss, and even seemed impervious to pain. Soon, its skin was lacerated and bleeding, and yet it didn't stop thrashing around.
Shocked, Bai Xiaochun had a mind to intervene, but the one-step viper truly seemed to have gone mad. Then, Bai Xiaochun's face fell as more snakes in the vicinity all started turning red and thrashing around. The heat emanating from them even caused the air to ripple and distort.
Most conspicuous of all was the bloodgod cobra, which had grown much larger since consuming the medicinal pill, and was thrashing about with particular violence.
In the depths of the cave, rumbling sounds began to echo out, and soon all of the snakes were thrashing around with maddened violence. Some of them even launched themselves into the air and slammed into the stone walls.
Bai Xiaochun's eyes were wide as saucers as he dove back into the spell formation. Instantly, the countless surrounding snakes began to batter against the spell formation shield as if they were insane. The mere sight of it caused Bai Xiaochun's scalp to grow numb.
"Oh man, this is bad. These snakes are going crazy. If they keep thrashing around, something really bad is going to happen!" Bai Xiaochun was starting to get very nervous. His original intention had simply been to get the snakes to close their mouths; he had never imagined that something like this would result. As soon as he thought about how angry Li Qinghou would be when he saw the current state of the snakes, he began to tremble.
He ran anxiously back into the stone hut and began to concoct a medicinal pill. He produced vast amounts of medicinal plants, hoping to concoct some remedy to solve the problem. No longer was he proudly complacent like before. Instead, he looked like he was about to cry, and frightened out of his mind. A few days later, he charged out of the stone hut, hair disheveled, eyes bloodshot.
He had three medicinal pills in his hand, which he had concocted over the past three sleepless days and nights. What he hoped was that these pills would calm the snakes down, and at least buy him some time to concoct a true antidote.
The scene which met his eyes as he emerged was shocking. All of the snakes were writhing and thrashing in complete madness. The stone walls were cracked and smashed, and many of the snakes were covered in bloody wounds.
Bai Xiaochun really was about ready to cry. He quickly tossed out the medicinal pills, which exploded in midair, causing a mist to spread out over the snakes. Almost immediately, they calmed down, and their wounds even began to heal....
A few days later, the snakes were still calm, and the thrashing behaviour hadn't returned. Finally, Bai Xiaochun breathed a sigh of relief.
"You nearly scared Lord Bai to death! I thought something bad was going to happen. Humph! Well, with my skill in the Dao of medicine, this was pretty much a non-event!" Feeling very proud of himself, Bai Xiaochun was about to go about working on an antidote when he suddenly stopped in place and swallowed hard, looking at one particular snake off in the distance.
It was a cloudy-eyed death viper, and now that it had recovered completely, it began to emanate a shocking aura. The fluctuations were not that of the cultivation base, but rather, its fleshly body. It suddenly twitched, hitting a nearby boulder and smashing it to pieces.
Bai Xiaochun's widened. There were quite a few cloudy-eyed death vipers in the cave, and although their venom was deadly to the extreme, their bodies were relatively weak. They definitely shouldn't be this strong physically, and yet, his eyes weren't deceiving him.
Panting, he looked around at the other snakes, and sweat began to drip down his forehead.
"How is this possible?" he muttered hoarsely.
More snakes began to twitch, and then erupt with fleshly body power. They weren't thrashing about, and yet, even their slightest movement caused the ground to tremble. Boulders were shattered as if the snakes were whips in the hands of almighty beings, whips that could smash any obstacle to pieces.
They all possessed seemingly unlimited fleshly body power, and even worse, some of them were starting to head in his direction.
Before, the spell formation could stop them easily, but now it began to tremble and emanate cracking sounds. If that spell formation broke, Bai Xiaochun couldn't even imagine how he would possibly deal with so many infinitely powerful snakes.
It was then that the bloodgod cobra, which had an even stronger fleshly body than the other snakes, slammed into the spell formation. At the same time, the head of another snake appeared from the very depths of the cave. The snake stared at Bai Xiaochun with bulging eyes.
The head was enormous, roughly three meters long; as such, it was only possible to imagine how long the rest of the snake was. Terrified, Bai Xiaochun screamed and ran back into the stone hut to start concocting another temporary remedy.


With a thought, the land becomes a vast sea. With another thought, it transforms a field of mulberries.

With a thought, a thousand friends are killed. With another thought, ten thousand Immortals are slain.

Only I alone… shall be everlasting. 



"Lycster, you have nothing to worry about. Because I've already let them go free." 
Vy looked up at the wall clock that had been installed right above the door. 
"If I'm not wrong, they should have been escorted out of the town right about now. Caster would have also prepared their horse carriage for them by now. They would be sent back together with the two assassins they had sent." 
Lycster nodded, then he paused. 
"Assassins?!"
Vy chuckled, while Dotty burst out laughing. Lycster looked at them with his jaw dropped. 
"Did you say assassins? There were assassins?!"
Vy explained what had happened, and even showed him her discovery of the Blacrium metal and the three snakes she got. She used this opportunity to learn more about the snakes that she had as well. 
"To be honest, I was surprised that the snakes listened to me so well. I wonder why." Vy said. 
It was true, the snakes were fearful of her at first, then they became loyal to her, abandoning their reptile instincts. Lycster had a look at the snakes, they too seemed to like him. None of them was hostile. They simply curled up in his palm when they were given the opportunity. 
"Could it have something to do with the fact that we can transform into animal forms?" Lycster asked. 
"That could be it," Vy replied. 
As the snakes slithered on her hand, Vy asked Dotty to help her analyse the species these snakes were. Dotty carefully patted the scales of the snake as she brought up the relevant information for Vy. 
These were Lakreem snakes, a poisonous species known for their rare venom. One bite would cause the victim to suffer excruciating pain. A second bite would lead them to suffer hallucinations. A third bite would be instantaneous death. 
<These are just cute little babies! Aren't they just adorable~> 
Dotty cuddled the snakes together, rubbing her cheeks against their heads. The snakes did not seem to mind Dotty, simply hissing as she hugged them. One of the snakes, the black one, even curled up around her. 
"Did you say they are just babies?" Vy asked. 
Looking at them, Vy had assumed they were full-sized snakes, at least they were similar in size to some of the ones she had seen for sale in the markets and in the wild. Each of them was able to coil two to three times around her wrists, their length as compared to the length of regular snakes. 
"They look like adult snakes to me," Vy continued. 
Dotty laughed, shaking her head slowly. 
<They are just cute little babies~>
Dotty lifted the heads of one of the snakes, gently squeezing it between her hands. 
<Look this cute little face~>
Vy laughed, snakes were adorable indeed. 
"Aren't you afraid of the venom from these snakes?" Vy asked. 
<Well, I can't be hurt by them, Vy! Plus, while Lakreem Snakes are highly venomous, they are loyal too. Right now, they are loyal to you so I don't think I have much to worry about.>
Lycster sat next to Vy, teasing one of the snakes. They seem to take a natural liking to Lycster as well. 
"I wonder if we had a snake form if we might be able to speak to them, just like how you can communicate with the wolves," Lycster said. 
"I almost forgot I had that ability," Vy replied. 
It was on one of their hunts in the forest surrounding the Prism Sector that Vy and Lycster encountered a pack of wolves. It was an instant connection, as Vy was able to communicate with them telepathically. They quickly acknowledged Vy's dominance and left after a short conversation. 
"What did they talk about anyway," Lycster asked out of curiosity.
Vy paused for a moment in thought, remembering the conversation brought a smile to her face. 
"They thought they met their maker and wanted me to be their leader. Nothing fancy." Vy replied as the black snake coiled in her palm, resting its head atop its body. 
"What?" Lycster stared at Vy blankly. 
Vy laughed, "Well, the leader or the alpha of the pack thought I was some Wolf God, because of how large my form was compared to them. Plus they mentioned I smelled different. So they wanted me to join them to make their pack stronger."
"You had that entire conversation with them, in a matter of a few seconds?" Lycster asked in disbelief.
Vy nodded, "Yup, pretty much. You'll get it when you meet your first mountain goat. In the meantime," she stood up from her seat, with all three snakes coiled on her right arm, "I think I just remembered who might be able to speak to the snakes."
"Is Nestor in town?" Vy asked the bartender. 
"It's been a while, Miss Vyrena. Or should I address you as Miss Mayor?" the bartender replied with a grin as he continued wiping down one of the many glass beer mugs. 
"Just Vyrena is good enough," she said. 
"Humble, I like that." the bartender said as he poured her a mug of cider, "on the house. He's in town, he's right over there."
The bartender pointed out to a corner table at the far end of the tavern. Vy thanked the bartender for the drink and walked over to join Nestor at his table.

"Where am I?" Vyrena asked herself.

The girl tried to move her body, but all of her muscles and bones ached. Her throat was as dry as the desert, she needed water. In the near distance, Vyrena could hear the sound of moving water. Gathering all of her strength, she crawled inch by inch towards the water source.

Upon reaching the riverbank, she quenched her thirst greedily. It tasted clear and refreshing, a good sign. She could feel the dirt and grime that covered her entire body. Unable to bear it anymore, Vyrena dunked herself into the water.

The cool refreshing feel of the river water jolted her senses. As she emerged from the water, she could finally open her eyes and take in her surroundings.

-How did I end up here?- she thought to herself.

She tried to remember what she could. Memories flashed through her mind.

- I died -

The realisation shocked her to the core. Her eyes were wide open. Recalling the details made her head spin.

She recalled drinking a substance and laying down in her bed. A familiar hand held onto hers, his words echoed in her mind.

-I'm here for you. I'm here for you.-

But as soon as that memory faded, new memories from the host body bombarded her. When the recollection of memories was complete, a voice popped up in her mind.

In fact, whenever she was reminded that he was only a little child, she would stop overthinking the matter. She could feel that his palm was getting a little too warm. Gu Xijiu was alert of the possible threats, like the instincts of a woman intimidated by a powerful man.
She was about to take a step forward to get away from his grasp, but that was when he pulled her close by the waist. "Quiet. The snakes are here."
Gu Xijiu was surprised. It was true that the snakes were here, but why must he pull her close at the waist? Why did the child have to be so touchy?
Gu Xijiu wanted to hit his arm to let her go, but before she could even touch him, he suddenly pulled his arm back. She almost hit herself at the stomach.
Shen Nianmo did not only let her go, but he also took a few steps backward and hid himself behind her protective figure, like a child seeking for protection. "Chongsheng, you have to look after me. I am afraid of snakes."
Gu Xijiu did not feel quite right. The child sounded like he was trying to flirt.
"If you are afraid of snakes, you should get up there and wait patiently," Gu Xijiu responded scornfully while eyeing the pearl.
"No, Chongsheng, we shall do this together. You are considered as my junior apprentice, so I cannot possibly leave you behind," Shen Nianmo answered with a firm determination, as if fearless in the face of death.
"If things go right, I can be your senior apprentice. Never mind, we should talk about this a year from now. It is not the time to talk about these insignificant things. I see that many snakes have approached. Which of them is the desired one?"
Gu Xijiu was speechless. The child was indeed good at playing tricks. He was the one who had brought up the topic of senior and junior apprentices. Now he acted as though Gu Xijiu was pressuring him merely on the insignificant titles.
Determined, she decided not to lower herself to the same level as the child. She turned and fixed her eyes on the pearl instead. A terrifying scene unfolded before her eyes. There was, indeed, an abundance of snakes. There were snakes of different sizes and colors. Some were red, black, and even purple.
The snakes rustled tirelessly on the ground, emerging from many hidden corners of the tunnel. Like flying moths darting into the fire, they slowly moved towards the pearl. In a swarm, the colorful snakes moved in a compact mass. Under the radiance of the pearl, their eyes started to reflect in pale green.
Gu Xijiu could see many small, green eyes shimmering. She was irritated by the repetitive patterns of the snake. The sight of the countless snakes immediately sent a shiver down her spine.
These rarely seen snakes were extremely poisonous. The very poison that was spurted from the snake was enough to kill a celestial being. The air was now also filled with the fishy smell of the snakes.
Gu Xijiu tried to suppress the irritation and focused on the snakes to differentiate them.
"Which one?" Shen Nianmo lowered his head and whispered into her ear.
Gu Xijiu was mildly agitated by his warm breath, so she shifted her head a little. "I have not found it."
"Why do I get a feeling that you are interested in all these snakes?"
Gu Xijiu did not answer. Truth be told, she was indeed interested in all of them. She was an expert in the use of poisons. Her habit was to study all kinds of poison, so she would definitely be interested in the poisonous snakes. These snakes were the treasured rarities that she would love to collect. However, the snakes were too venomous. She dared not rush into the circle of snakes foolishly and catch them all at once. Perhaps, she should start with the ones at the back.
"If you call me as your senior apprentice, I will catch these snakes for you," Shen Nianmo offered his help. He was standing very close to her.
Gu Xijiu answered scornfully, "I thought you were afraid of snakes."
"Hmm. If you can call me as your senior apprentice, I can forget about my fear for a second."
The child had a smooth tongue.
Gu Xijiu did not take him seriously. She continued to eye on the snakes while thinking of a way to catch them.
