Giant Spider

Flopping onto the ground in exhaustion, Scaly could not help regretting her rash decision to combine her claw strike and water magic together.

Although the attack was far more powerful than any of her other attacks, it used up both her mana and energy, draining her to the point where she could only barely roll around on the ground as she began recovering her mana and energy.

Note for future self, never use that attack until I get stronger or its absolute necessary!

Thinking this to herself, Scaly slowly closed her eyes as she focused on recovering her mana and energy at the same time. Hoping that there wasn't any monster nearby who grew curious and decided to explore the crack in the wall connected to the small space she was hiding inside of during this period of time.

Rustle~

Unknown to her, almost at the same time that she began focusing on recovering, a rustling sound echoed out as a large spider leg several times larger than her quietly used the crack to stabilize itself before an enormous body covered the little light entering the space for a short moment before disappearing up in the direction of the cave ceiling.

If not for the fact that she had been lucky enough to stay inside the small space due to being exhausted after trying to combine her water magic and claw strike, the large spider creature would undoubtedly have noticed her.

Of course, Scaly was not aware of any of this as she continued to recover her strength while lying on the rocky ground without moving. 

Only after a few hours went by did she open her eyes fully recovered from the earlier attack she had unleashed against the innocent rock. 

Luckily, due to the earlier presence of the giant spider monster that had passed by while she was lying on the ground focused on recovering, no monster had dared to approach the cave wall she was hiding inside of. Fearful that the enormous spider monster was still around.

Whoosh~

Not aware of the possible danger, Scaly didn't linger around inside the small space and quickly made her way out of the crack in the wall before making it back on to the cave floor again.

Not too long after landing back down on the cave floor, an unfortunate Large Cave Harvestman happened to run into her and was instantly killed by her overwhelming power. Not even able to resist for a few seconds before dying.

This… It didn't give me any exp at all! How many of them will I have to kill before my strength increases!?

However, the thing Scaly focused on was not how easily she had killed the large cave harvestman, but the fact that her progress didn't change and remained stuck on 45% after she killed the large cave harvestman.

After her strength increased and she went through her second evolution and got one step closer to becoming a dragon, it also seemed like the experienced required to increase her level had significantly increased.

Killing the monsters, she did before her evolution no longer seemed like it would be enough for her if she wanted to keep growing stronger. At the same time, she also seemed to understand why the cave alligator and the berserk cave troll didn't hunt down the weaker monsters to increase their own strength.

Should I go find more powerful monsters to kill? But where- Ah! The place where the berserk cave troll went! If I go where the berserk troll went, I should be able to find more powerful monsters!

Debating with herself for a short moment on what to do now that hunting the monsters in the cave was no longer enough to sustain her growth, Scaly quickly decided to follow after the berserk cave troll. Believing that it should have made its way to a place with stronger monsters after its strength had increased.

Sensing something moving around above her, Scaly suddenly tilted her head upwards to see what it was-

Only to see two massive legs heading towards her at a terrifying speed-

Using all of her strength, she barely managed to avoid the two massive spider legs more than twice the length of her body as she turned to look up at the enormous spider around the same size as the cave alligator that had suddenly appeared in front of her without any warning.

Ignoring the weird information about spider elves attached to the description of the giant spider, it looked like the spider in front of her didn't have any special traits other than being large and tasting delicious.

As for strength… Although she had been caught off guard by the sneak attack earlier, the strength displayed by the giant spider was far weaker than the cave alligator and the cave troll. Obviously coming nowhere near the strength displayed by the cave troll after it evolved into a berserk cave troll.

Hmph! For it to dare attack me with such pitiful strength, its not even comparable to the cave alligator I killed a few days ago! Oh well, I guess it will make the perfect opponent to test out my new strength! 

Remembering the fact that she had managed to kill the cave alligator that was stronger than the giant spider in front of her, Scaly felt her battle intent rising as the mana inside her body began churning excitedly before transforming into a dozen water spears that flew directly towards the giant spider.

Her water magic increasing to level 7 not only allowed her to combine it with other skills, but also made it far easier for her to handle water magic. Allowing her to easily create the dozen water spears now flying towards the giant spider.
